Veteran's Day 2012

On Armed Forces Day, we honor those who have served or who are serving in our nation's military.  On Memorial Day, we honor our war dead.  And today, on Veteran's Day, we traditionally honor those who have served or who are serving in combat - though in recent times, we use this day to honor all members of our armed services!

Today, we'd like to honor our favorite combat veteran - our dad!  We've shown you one of our favorite pix of him - this one ...

Mike and Booter, 1991
Dad and great brother Booter, 1991

... in previous Veteran's Day posts - but today we have a couple different  ones for you!

Here is Dad in front of part of the Brigade he commanded; they were getting into formation for the 2nd Infantry Division (2ID) Change of Command Ceremony back in 1995:

Dad and the 2ID Division Support Command (DISCOM)

That was at a place called Camp Red Cloud, Korea.  [Mom was out in the stands somewhere - and great brother Booter and great sister Lucky were back at Mom's place in Seoul (Yongson Army Garrison), holding down the fort.]

Here's another shot of Dad with the Commander of the Korean Service Company (part of Dad's brigade):

That was from where Dad lived - a place called Camp Casey, Korea.

We're very proud of our Dad's service in the Army - and that he is a combat veteran.  Here at Ao4 HQs, we understand that freedom is not free. We thank all of our veterans for their selfless service, dedication to duty, and their courage. It is because of these men and women that we enjoy the great freedoms we have today. They are the strength of America.

Veterans - past and present - we thank God for you and pray for His blessing on each and every one of you.

With respect -
Zim and Dave
And our mom

  4. Those are great photos! I was hoping to go to the Veteran's Day parade here (which I thought was tomorrow, but apparently is today), but it got rained out. The wind is blowing so hard right now I just heard a tree limb crack and fall, scary! Anyway, happy Veteran's Day! I loved the post. :D

  15. Tell your dad thanks so much! We thought of him yesterday while we were driving to church and all the flags were out!

Umm...I guess I wasn't driving to church. They don't let me go there.
