Cat Walk Poses

Ha roo, pups and cool cats.  It's me, Zim!  Before I get started, many of you asked what I was watching  on yesterday's post.  It was a show on The Golf Channel called The Big Break.  It was fascinating, as you could tell!  Sadly, no popcorn or other snacks were provided.  On to the news of the day!

Our friend very sweet friend Tiger Lily gave us this wonderful award:

I'm supposed to link to the kit-cat who gave us the award, give 5 reasons why we think life is grand, and pass the award along to 5 friends.  Cool!

First off, many thanks to you, Tiger Lily!  We are just getting to know you and feel blessed by your friendship!  This award is the icing on the cake!  Or ... the freshly baked salmon on top of the kibble.  Mmm... salmon.

Not too long ago, I posted a list of my top five reasons I think life is grand.  Storm said I should post a link back to it, then do a cool post and dedicate it to Tiger Lily.  Sounds like a great idea!  Before I do that, I would like to pass this award along to the following bloggers:

Bren, over at BG_Garden Blog
Caroline, at Pink Lemonade Bags
Everyone at the Beaded Tail
Angus Mhor and his new little sister Tallulah

That's a good mix of bipeds, kit-cats and fellow pups.  I was trying to think outside the box; Stormy says I'm good at that.  Ha roo roo roo!

Since Tiger Lily gave us the award and she's a cat, I thought I'd give all of you a little photo essay of some new poses I've done up on the cat walk.  See the connection?  It was Ammy's idea.  Let's get to it!

Start simply.  Just some feety-feet sticking out is a good way to begin.  This intrigues the bipeds, gives them time and incentive to go grab the camera, and makes them want more:

After that, throw an ear in.  Not too much!  Just enough.  Like so:

Move on to a display including your snooter:

Nice, isn't it?  Then let them see part of your handsome face:

That was a side-shot.  Give them a good look at your whole face now:

Quickly now!  Turn away!

You don't want to give them too much!

Did you get all that?

I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial.  Tiger Lily, I dedicate that body of work on the cat walk to you!  Many, many thanks for the Life is Grand award - and even better, thank you for your friendship!

Play bows!

Deck Patrol

Tail wags, pups and kit-cats!  It's me - Stormy.  Last week, it was warm and sunny out.  This seemed to please Mom and Dad much more than the cold and rainy that we have now.  Siberianly speaking, we liked it when it was cold and snowy... but for some reason, we didn't hang out on the deck as a family when it was covered in snow.  Go figure.  Mom and Dad do like being out on the deck when it's warm, so we go out with them - just to humor them.  Mom snapped this picture of us last week:

Left to right, Dave, Zim, Ammy; me in the foreground

So I ask you... who jumped whom first?  And what is Ammy staring at?  What does Dave see?  What is Zim up to?  What do you think is going on?

Tail wags,
Storms

Kong-on-a-Rope! Kong-on-a-Rope! Kong-on-a-Rope!

Woo, everypuppy and everycat! It's me - Dave! Remember on Friday when Stormy showed you the picture of me running through the backyard?!!? She said I could take today to share the rest of those pictures with you - me doing one of my most favorite things -- playing with my mom and my Kong-on-a-Rope!

Before I get started, I'd like to thank my fellow Kong-on-a-Rope fan Golden Samantha for presenting us with this nice award:

Thanks, Ludo! Thanks, Golden Samantha!

Thank you, Sammie! Your blog is fabulous, too - right down to the Kong-on-a-Rope background! Woo! I dedicate this post to you!

At first, I had to have the long leash trail behind me - in case there were any of Oswald's family members or condo renters in the yard.

As you can see, it doesn't slow me down! Here I am, bringing home a long one:

DSCF0653
Great throw, Mom!

After that one, I got to go without the leash. In this next picture, the Kong-on-a-Rope tried to get away from me, but I stayed with it and didn't let it get away from me!

DSCF0660
Woo! Got it!

It was tough, but I'm just the guy for the job!

We did a bunch more throws and catches and bring-backs, then Mom thought I might be tired.

DSCF0671
Tired? Me? No way!

I don't know where she gets these ideas. We played a little more...

DSCF0668

...then I decided it was time to head inside.

DSCF0669
Woo, that was fun!

What a great play session! Thanks again for the award, Sammie! I hope you liked my Kong-on-a-Rope show!

Luv,
Dave

Serene Scenery Sunday

Ha roo everypup and everykitty!  It's me, Zim, with some serene scenery for you!  First up are some photos from our garden.

Here are some blooms on our Juddi Viburnum:

They smell sweet and make Mom happy.  Same with our Old-Fashioned Lilacs, which are starting to bloom:

This is a pine cone in one of our Austrian Pines:

Our neighbors have these sweet, little flowers growing under a group of their pines:

They always make Mom smile; we pass them on our morning walks every day.

And here's one of our sunsets from during the week:

Take a closer look in the clouds:

It's a pair of UH-60/Black Hawks from nearby Fort Riley!  They've been flying past the house quite a bit and we love seeing and hearing them!  HOOAH from the Ao4!  Fly safe, soldiers!

Keats!

Ha roo, pups and kit-cats!  It's me - Zimmie!  Before I get to today's post, I would like to thank the verrrrrry beautiful and snuggly Hazel over at Pointer Pandemonium for presenting us with this award:

According to Hazel, Ludo's mom said the award probably reads, "Proven!  Your blog has sweetness."  Wow!  That's really special!  Thank you very much, Hazel!  And Scotty and Sophie!

Today (the 25th) is ANZAC Day - and we do give thanks for the fighting men of Australia and New Zealand, our dear friends and allies!   In keeping with the day, we'd like to honor our blogging friends in Australia and New Zealand, by sharing this award!  We send this out to Opy and CharlieHuffle, and Suzuki in Australia, and to Team Husky and  Josh and Jessie in New Zealand!  And... I hope I'm not leaving anypup or kitty out.  If you're reading this and are from Australia or New Zealand, please accept this blog award!  Thank you for your friendship!

As Storm mentioned yesterday, by the time I got back to the park to see my new circus friends, they were gone.  Mom decided we'd head to some place named Keats to seek adventure there.  Those purple flowers we showed you yesterday were on the way!  According to our fellow blogger at Flint Hills/Tall Grass, it's called Henbit and is an annual plant that "grows best in disturbed areas like plowed fields and along high-use areas."  Thanks for the great info!

After we went through a bunch of fields, we saw a sign for a park, so we thought we'd stop in.  Mom said she was sorry I couldn't see my horse friends again, but that maybe we'd find someone just as fun out here.

Ha roo?

No... not really as fun as the horses from the circus.  We were about to leave when I saw .... her.  Sigh.  Her name is Sadie and our moms let us meet.

Me and Sadie.  And Sadie's mom.

Isn't she dreamy?  I mean ... she's no Sitka, but wow, was she fun!  This is the only good picture Mom got of us, because we did play bows and leash zoomie macramé and stuff, so everything was out of focus.

We really liked each other and Mom said we could try to meet up with her again!  It turned into a great adventure after all!

Play bows,
Zim

Photo Finish Friday

Tail wags, everypup and everykitty! It's me, Stormy. Oh, I know - many of you are tuning in to see if Zim was able to go back and see his new friends at the circus. Sadly, they left during the night, so he didn't get to ask the llama if he knew Tubey or get Mom to take better pictures. But fear not! He had a cool adventure with Mom anyway. He's going to tell you all about it tomorrow, but in the meantime, here are a couple pictures from his outing!

First up - a sea of purple!

A sea of purple

We know many of our friends are purple fans - like Kat and Khyra and Huffle, to name a few - and Zim said he thought of all of you and wished you had been there!

Zim by the sea of purple
Wowzers! I wish my purple-loving friends could see this!

Many of you have asked if the rest of us feel left out when one or two of us get to go on a special adventure. Yes and no. We all love special adventures and one-on-one time with Mom (and/or Dad), but Mom works really hard at making sure we all get to do something fun! Take yesterday, for example!

After Zim had his special adventure, Dave really wanted to go do something. Mom let him do one of his most favorite things - play with his Kong-on-a-Rope.

LabraDave 1
The LabraDave

He actually doesn't have the Kong with him there, but he was running to Mom as she called him. No... I don't get it, either. He'll post more Lab-in-a-Sibe-suit pix in a few days. He thought Golden Samantha and Maddie would like to see his moves with the Kong-on-a-Rope.

Late in the afternoon, Ammy got to try out the squeaky football! She had never tried it before but told me it was incredibly fun! She could squeeze it and make it squeak, but didn't puncture it or anything!

Amber and the squeaky football
Steve and Kat! I just love this toy that you sent Davy! :)

Four paws up from the Jaws of Steel on the football!

I got to take a special extra walk with Mom and Zimmie, then spent some alone time out front with Mom. I had fun, despite the fact that she kept following me around with the camera.

Stormy - not pleased with the camera
Are you still pointing that thing at me?

Can't make things too easy for her; you all understand.

This last photo was actually from a few days ago, but we thought it should be on Photo Finish Friday. Dad took it out on the golf course. One of the guys he was playing with shot a hole in one. ...So to speak.

New Friends!

Ha roo, everypup and everycat!  It's me - Zim!  I had such a cool adventure yesterday, I just can't WAIT to tell you about it!

There I was, walking through our "regular" park with Mom, when I saw this:

Wow.  Those guys aren't usually there!  I had to go meet them!  I had to!

I think the reddish-brown one likes me, Mom.  Let's go say "ha roo".

I did my low-crouch thing like I do for all my new friends, so he wouldn't feel threatened and might come see me.

That's it, fella.  C'mon over!

And he did!  He came right over to me!

I got up into a "sit" and he stood right there.  We exchanged silent pleasantries, then he had to go to work.  He helps run something called a "circus"!  The person who works for him scratched my ears and said I was a real special guy.  Hey, isn't that nice!?

Mom and I walked around and saw some of his co-workers.  Mom thought this stripe-legged guy was pretty cute:

Ha roo to you!

He liked me a whole lot.  The guy who works for him also gave me compliments and ear scratchies!

There were other animals back in there I wanted to meet, but they were hanging in the shade of the tent - it was well over 85 at that time and a bit toasty out.  There were some really huge horses and a camel and a llama!  Can you imagine!?!?  I hope to go back today to meet them!

I also got to meet and be admired by about a million people who were there to see the animals.  Maybe not quite a million.  Maybe more like ten.  But it was a LOT and they all found me to be totally charming.  What can I say?

Anyroo, I'm going to see if Mom and I can head to the park.  I'll try to have her take better pictures this time!

Play bows,
Zim

Honestly!

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me, Zim!  We were given this award and tagged by our friend Jackal!

From Angel! And Angus Mhor! And Ransom! And Jackal!

The Honest Scrap award!  Hey, thanks, Jackal!  Ammy already answered this tag, as did Storm and Dave;  how cool that I get a shot at it now, too!  I'm supposed to list 10 honest things about myself, then tag 10 other bloggers.  Ready?  Let's go!

1.  I came from the same shelter Storm and Dave had been in.

2.  I was about a year and a half old when Mom and Dad and Stormy and Ammy adopted me.  That puts me at over 8 right now.

3.  Every day that I was in the shelter, Mom came to visit with me.  She read to me from Robert Heinlein's book Starship Troopers.  If you haven't read it, do.  I was named after a character in that book!  (Video at that link rated PG-13 for fake violence.)

4.  I love to bask in the sun.  It's part of being an honorary kitty cat!

This feels so good; I could just purr!

5.  I love to do zoomies with my pack-mates!

6.  I've never met another animal I couldn't win over.  I was too excited the first time I met the gooses at the Amber Ocean, but now we've bonded.

7.  My bestest friend is Huffle Mawson, Explorer Cat and Honorary Husky.  She is the COOLEST cat ever!

8.  The very bee-roo-tiful Sitka is my girlfriend.  She's a very charming Southern belle.  I would love to meet her one day; our perfect date would be to do zoomies then go to Sonic for a frozen latte!

9.  My best buddy in the neighborhood is Harper.  He's a Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen, or a PBGV.  He's a real cool guy and has a great voice!  He never fails to call "Ha-loo!" when we walk past his house.  I've played with him in his yard and was even invited inside one time.  He's a great host and brought all of his toys to show me!

10.  If I see something that fascinates me while we're out on a walk, I do this:

Hmm.  Fascinating!

I can't help it.  Apparently, this is not what Sibes are supposed to do.  What can I say?

That's my 10 things!  Now... I know this has been around a while, and I'm not sure who hasn't been tagged yet.  Have you "been honest" yet?  If you haven't, please consider yourselves tagged!  Have fun - and thanks again to Jackal (and Storm Glory!) for the fun tag!

Time for coffee on the deck.  Have a great day, everypup and everycat!

Play bows,
Zim

Roses and Why We Love Blogging

Tail wags, all!  It's me - Stormy!  As Dave mentioned the other day, we have recently been honored with a couple awards.  The first one was from our sweet hound friends the Dughallmor Beagles - Gabbi, Rosie, Alfie and Snoop.  They presented us with this lovely bouquet of roses for hosting their bunny (Rambo) on our blog during their bunny hunt!

Thank you, Golden Samantha! Thank you, Dughallmor Beagles!

Thank you, dear friends!  It was our pleasure to be a part of the fun!

We also received this award from Zimmie's bestest friend, Huffle Mawson:

Thanks, Huffle!

It's the Why I Love Blogging award.  Here are the rules:
*As a dedication for those who love blogging activity and love to encourage friendships through blogging.
*To seek the reason why we all love blogging.
*Put the award in one post as soon as you receive it.
*Don’t forget to mention the person who gives you the award.
*Answer the Award’s question by writing the reason why you love blogging.
*Tag and distribute the Award to as many people as you like.
*Don’t forget to notify the Award receivers and put their links in your post.
Zim was going to respond to this one, but he can't stop staring at the coffee cup in the graphic.  Ha roo roo roo!  We love blogging for a myriad of reasons, but primarily because of all the friendships we've made - we all come together, without regard to anything other than being supportive, friendly, and caring - and have a whole lot of fun along the way!  We love sharing our adventures with you and reading about yours. The boys (Dave and Zim) love sharing their photo shoots with you - so do I, but in a totally different way.  Ammy... not so much.  We've been at this for almost three years now, and our list could go on and on.  But it's got to be the friendships.  You ALL mean so much to us!

*This news just in!  Our very lovely friend Stella has also just presented us with the Why We Love Blogging award!  Thank you, Stella!  This makes the honor doubly special!!!

We'd like to hear from all of you!  Why do you love blogging?  Consider yourselves tagged and awarded, if you'd like to play along!

We need to respond to a tag from Jackal and Storm, too.  We'll hit that tomorrow.  Right now, I need to get some PT in.

Would you put Animal Planet or something good on the TV, please?

Tail wags,
Storms

Serene Scenery Sunday

Ha roo, everypup and everykitty!  It's me, Zim.  Is everyone feeling serene today?  As Dave told you yesterday, I had one of my zen-like moments at the park the other day and I thought I'd share it with you.  I hope it will help you find your own calm, peaceful place.

It came over me after Dave and I saw those geese and the duck.  That sense of serenity washed over me ... and I knew if the geese and their duck friend would just give me a chance, I could win them over.

I'm going to the other side of the lake.  Follow me.  Follow me over there.

And they did.  Ignoring the people fishing, a few other dogs, and others... they followed me.

One of the guys from Canada came over first.  I kept very still, so I wouldn't scare him.

Hey, Goose!  I'm Zim.  Thanks for trusting me.

He must have been doing some goose recon, decided I was OK, then brought the local guy over.  He was a little shy at first ...

... or maybe he was imitating Gus' sister Callie.  (Ha roo roo roo!)  But he eventually warmed up to me, too.

I don't speak Goose and they don't speak Siberian, but we did share a very comfortable silence between us.  A serene silence.

I went into Zen-overdrive so they'd round up their friends and bring them over.

I'll just turn my head, so you don't feel threatened or anything.

As I'd hoped, they brought the rest of their little flock over.

We had a nice time, just relaxing with each other, sending calm non-verbals to each other.  It was such a special time.  I hope to come back to the park again soon.  I hope my new friends will remember me!

I'll come see you gooses again soon!

What a beautiful time we had.  I hope each one of you finds that same level of serenity today!

Play bows,
Zim
