Boxing Fan!

Greetings to all, it's me, Maggie!  Last week, I was ecstatic when my dad came home from golf with a BOX!  Mom was real happy, too, but that was because it contained homegrown Butternut Squash.  Me?  Yep - it was because of the BOX!

Once she unloaded the produce, she put it in the living room and called me in.  "Maggie!  Come see what I have for you!!!"

"Wait.  How come you're calling Maggie?  Is she getting a treat?"
"Yes, Mom?  Ooooh, boxes!!!"

Cammie got there first; I didn't realize she was a boxing fan like me!  Mom wanted some photos of me by the box that had the squash in it so the nice people who gave it to us would know how much I like it.

"Thank you very much for the awesome box, Mr. and Mrs. P!!!  Can I play in it now, Mom?"
"Wait.  Are you sure she doesn't get treats for this?"

Mom gave me the green light and I dove in with both feet.

"YEA!!!"

It's not quite large enough to make a fort in, but I still had LOTS of fun with it!

Mom said Dad got an Amazon package, and that I could play with that box, too.

"Really?  Thanks, Mom!"
"Are you SURE there aren't treats involved?"

It was a mighty small box, but I got a couple verses of The Hokey Pokey in.

" ... Now let's go for the left foot!  ♫ You put your left foot in ... ♫ "

Really pretty fun - but I preferred the larger box.

"I  ❤ my new box!!!"

Oh.  And Cammie left while I was doing The Hokey Pokey.  I guess she's not as much of a boxing fan as I thought.

Thank you again to the Ps for the new box - and the squash, too!

Movie Night

Greetings to all! It's me, Maggie. Did everyone have a good weekend? We sure did! We had all kinds of fun, lots of activities to burn up "someone's excess energy" (Mom's words, not mine; I have no idea who she's talking about) - and during our "down time", we caught a movie.

I don't remember what it was, other than there were horses in it and they didn't have NEARLY enough speaking roles. I sure liked it when they did talk, though!

Did anyone else catch a movie? Any recommendations?

Serene Scenery Sunday

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie, here with Serene Scenery Sunday.  Today, after our walk and after we helped with the tomatoes, Mom wanted to get some shots of Maggie and me in the backyard.  It was nice and shady and cool back there - so very peaceful!  I thought I'd share those photos with you!

Here we are, posing on the second tier:

"This 'sit and wait' thing is sooooo hard, Cam!  And BORING!"
"I know, Peeps.  Pay Mom back by not looking at her."

You can see some of the Purple Emperor Sedum and Blue Oat grasses behind us!

Mom wanted to work on Maggie's "sit and wait" thing, so she backed up and shot this:

"Yeah, yeah.  'Sit and wait', blah, blah, blah."
"Wait.  I think she has treats!"

There is nothing wrong with being food motivated!!!  Nothing!

We moved up to where the first and second tiers intersect and Mom asked us to pose. Maggie jumped up on the retaining wall - she likes doing that!

"Hi, Mom!"
"Whatever.  I smell food!"

I'm pretty sure the neighbors were cooking breakfast!

Here I am, by some of the other sedum and some bigger Oat Grasses:

Maggie was starting to get bored, so it took a minute for her to get into place. Here we are together:

"Good girl, Mags."
"Thanks, Ca---oooh!  Do you smell that?"

Apparently, the neighbors on both sides were cooking breakfast!

Mom was so pleased with how cooperative we were that she unhooked my leash, put Maggie on the really long one - then she let us ZOOM!

"Wheeee!  Chase me, Cam!  Chase me!"
"I'm going to get you, Mags!!!"

And ZOOM:

"Zzzooooom!"
"Here I come, Mags!"

And ZOOM some more!

"Wait!  I'll chase you now!"
"OK!  Let's GO!"

Mom apologizes for the poor quality of the chase scenes; all she had on her was her iPhone!

We tossed some wrestling in there:

"Gotcha, Cam!  Hi, Mom!"

The little one has some amazing moves!

"Watch my over-the-back flip!"
"Impressive, Mags!"

After a good, long play session, we ran up and played on the lower deck for a while - then made our way upstairs to the door, where we did one more pose for Mom.

"Time for a water break!"
"That was fun, Cammie!  Let's play some more!"

Mom agreed with me that it was time for a water break, so we headed inside. Oddly enough, while I got a nice, long drink, Maggie did zoomies through the living room, dining room, and kitchen! She's tired as can be now, and Mom said that makes her feel nice and serene. Me, too!

Mistake? What Mistake?

Greetings to all, it's me, Maggie.  There is a very popular British TV show called Downton Abbey - I'm sure many of you watch it.  We don't, but it's one of those things you can't help but hear about.  Anyway, the producers just released some promo photos from the new season and one photo is going viral.  There is supposed to be some big "mistake" in the photo - something that shouldn't be there.  Have you seen it?  Here it is:

I've looked and looked and I can't find one thing wrong with this photo! Bah! Mistake?!? What mis--ohhhh!  There's a plastic water bottle on the mantle.  Right.  Gotcha.  Oops.

Photo Finish Friday

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie, here with a collection of photos Mom took of our adventures throughout the week. Ready to take a look?

We did a lot of early-morning walking this week!  Here is a shot of me and Cam strolling past the Kansas Ocean:

Looks lovely, doesn't it? I love going on the KSO route; it also leads us to this big meadow:

We often see deer or turkeys there, but we didn't that day. We were happy anyway!

After our morning walk, we usually go out on the deck and supervise Mom while she tends the tomatoes and pulls weeds and stuff. Here's Cammie, offering Mom some assistance:

"Why don't you let me help you carry those tomatoes?"

On another morning this week, we walked up past the Grand Mère Village shopping center, AKA The Giant's Castle. I found a lot of fascinating things there ...

"WOW!  I should take flying lessons!!!"

"I wonder if anyone dropped any food down here?"

I did find one empty food container on the ground, but Mom saw it first and said that dreaded phrase. You know the one:  "Leave it, Maggie."  Yep.  Can't hear that enough times a day.  Wow, sometimes it's hard being a puppy!

Let's move along!

I got to go out to Tuttle Creek State Park this week! It was great! We went over to the River Pond and walked around a bit. Oh, are there ever a LOT of "leave it" things there - some of which smelled just incredible! Anyway, I was on my best behavior, though, as Cam had warned me that if you don't listen out there, you don't get to go. I opted to be very attentive. For a year-old Siberian Husky puppy.

One of the things we did was walk onto a floating dock! It was my first time and I had no hesitation whatsoever! It bobbed up and down and was really pretty fun. The only challenge came from something called a "buoy". I got into something of a staring contest with it. Here I am:

Box Day!

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie, here with exciting news!  As I mentioned the other day, Mom was expecting some shoes to be delivered yesterday.  I was delighted when she announced they were here (I mean -- they are WALKING shoes, and comfy feet mean more, longer walks!!!) and even more delighted when Dad brought the box in!

"Now this is a box!"

Isn't that great?!!?  I jumped right in with my front feety-feet, but I had a bit of a challenge with those flaps and couldn't get all the way in.  Mom decided to tuck them in for me and --

"PERFECT!!!"

It's a perfect fit!  Mom let me play in it for quite a while, then, just as I was starting to get bored (I mean, come on.  I'm still a puppy.  My attention span is a tad bit on the short side.) -- wait.  Where was I?  Oh, yeah.  Just as I was getting bored, Mom let me play with one of the shoe boxes, too!

"Really?!?  This looks like fun, too!"

Mom asked if I'd get in - or at least do the Hokey Pokey, like I did with the last really small box.  That sounded like a good idea.  I decided to skip ahead to the "Put your two feet in" part.

"How's this?!?"
"Is she getting treats for this?"

Mom said apparently not all pups are willing to get into boxes - or to put their feety-feet in.  Can you believe that?  She said it's hard for them - and hard for their bipeds to get them to do it sometimes.

"Hard?  Nah!  This is a piece of cake!"
"Don't say it, Maggie.  Don't ... do not say i--"

"In fact, I think you should give Cammie a turn!"
"OH... MY... G-I'm not here.  I'm not HERE!"

I'm just trying to share my boxes with my sister!  Maybe she'll play boxes with me today!  Would anyone else like to join us?

My Snuggle Puppy

Hello, everyone.  It's me, Cammie.  After dinner the other night, we settled in for some TV time only to run around and do zoomies and act like crazed river otters -- you know, just like always -- when ...

"Hey, Cam?  Whatcha doing now?"
"Poirot's on.  This is a pretty good episode.  Want to watch with me?"

"This is nice, isn't it, Mags?"
"Yes, Cam.  You know what?"

"What, little Peep?"
"I love you, Cammie."

"Is she cute enough?"
"Oh.  Poirot's talking now.  I like eeet when he talks like theeeese."

Yep.  We do have a lot of "awwwww" moments around here!  I sure do love my snuggle puppy!

Do The Hokey Pokey

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend!  Ours was just great - lots of walks, playing, doing zoomies, AND ... I got a new box!

We weren't expecting anything (unlike Mom's shoes that are coming Wednesday and will hopefully be in a really big box!) so it was mighty exciting when Mom brought the mail in and said she got a little surprise package from a friend -- in a BOX!  I asked if I could play with it and Mom of course said, "Yes."  Sounds great ... only ...

"So ... uh ... hmm."

Yep. My smallest box yet. I sized it up a bit:

"Wowzers!  This one's going to be tricky!"

Mom didn't really think I could do much with it, given how tiny it was, but then I went for it!

"See?!?  I can fit!!!"

Just kidding. And Mom apologizes for the poor quality of the photo. She needs to get quicker on the draw -- or get me bigger boxes!!!

Having said that, it might not have been quite large enough for me to fit in, but I did get in a little Hokey Pokey action:

"... ♫  'you put your right foot in'  ♫..."

She took the box away right about at the "shake it all about" part.  Go figure.  Oddly enough, no film footage of that part.  Still great fun, though!

Cross your  fingers  paws for me that Wednesday will be a good box day!!!

Serene Scenery Sunday

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie, here with Serene Scenery Sunday.  How about a little tour of some of what's blooming in our backyard to mellow out your morning?  Ready?  Let's head out there!

This is our Lime Zinger Sedum:

Mom loves the name.  And that it appears to love our sunny garden.  Right next to that is a splash of pink from the Cherry Tart Sedum.

Apparently, even though it's called Cherry Tart, you aren't supposed to eat it.  Who knew?

Not to be out-pinked by the Sedum, down on the lowest tier, we have the Crape Myrtle:

Now that's a pop of pink!

Just over from that, along the fence, we have three White Rose of Sharon bushes:

They're just swimming with blooms!  And the blooms are swimming with these:

For some reason, Mom doesn't want me to get close to them.  I'm not sure why; they look like they'd be mighty fun to chase!

Closer to the house, we have another type of Rose of Sharon bush; it has pink/purple/blue flowers on it!  Here's one of the pinkish blooms:

They have interesting visitors, too!  Check out who was checking out a bloom:

It's a Hummingbird Moth and those things are SUPER fast!  We love watching them zip all over the place!
