Serene Scenery Sunday

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  I think yesterday could have passed as Serene Scenery Saturday, given our lovely snow flurries!  But alas, nothing stuck and we're expecting a warm up later this week.  For now, though, it's chilly (20s and 30s when we got up) and sunny, so we took Mom and Dad on a nice, long walk to the park.

I was in a really good mood:

IMG_7917CamPark
"Hey, Maggie.  Want to know something I read?"
IMG_7928MagsCamBounce
"Something you read?  I dunno ..."
"Oh, c'mon, Maggie!  You know you do!"

You can tell I was excited.  Both of my front feet are off the ground!

IMG_7929MagsCamPark
"OK, let me make sure there isn't anything out there I should be staring at first ..."
"OK.  Ready?  What do sailors call the pole along the foot of a fore and aft rigged sail?"
IMG_7930MagsCamPark
"The pole along the ... I dunno ..."
"Give up?"
IMG_7918MagsCamBOOM
"Yeah, I give..."
"It's called a BOOM!"

Well, I thought it was serene, anyway!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Cammie!

Second Winter

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  Guess what happened on our walk this morning?!?  Take a look:

IMG_7898MagsCamSnowFlurries
"Hey!  Good news!  The rain has stopped!"
"Even better news!  It's snowing!"

Snow!  Can you believe it!?!  Check out my coat:

IMG_7901MagsSnowFlurries
"Snowflakes keep falling on my head ..."

I might be paraphrasing an old song there.  Check out Cam:

IMG_7902CamSnowFlurries
"Snowflakes ... on my shoulders make me hap-eeeee!!! ..."

Cam chose to paraphrase another song.  I think we've improved both, wouldn't you say?!?

IMG_7905MagsCamSnowFlurries
"Ah!  Springtime in Kansas!"
"Or as Mom is calling it, Second Winter."

Whatever you'd like to call it, I'd call it a mighty nice addition to our morning walk!

Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher

SQUIRREL!

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  Maggie and I took Mom and Dad on a nice family walk this morning in between rain storms.  We had rounded the last corner and were heading home, when ...

IMG_7891CamWalk
"SQUIRREL!"

I saw him first! Well ... right after Mom did!  He had been in the middle of the road, then moved into one of our neighbor's yard when he saw us.

Maggie spotted him right after I did:

IMG_7892MagsWalk
"Hello, Mr. Squirrel!"

We don't really pull, and certainly don't bark at squirrels, but we were very excited to see one!

IMG_7893CamMagsWalk
"What an exciting finish to our walk!"
"I'll say!  And we beat the rain home, too!"

What a great start to the day!  I hope your day is going just as well!

Just A Little Reminder

Hello, everyone.  It's me, Cammie!  The other afternoon, Mom went downstairs to quilt in her Studio, so Maggie and I thought we should go help out.  We had already been on a long walk and played with toys, so I was just going to take a little nap. Maggie had something else in mind.

IMG_7867MagsCamPlay
"Hey, Cam!  We should play a round of CROG!"
"Crazed River Otter Games?  I was going to take a nap!"
IMG_7868MagsCamPlay
"Oh.  Are you too tired?"
"Tired?  Me?  Tired?"
IMG_7870MagsCamPlay
"Yeah!  C'mon, Cam!  CROG time!"
"Oh, no!  It's a Crazed River Otter!!!!!  There's only one thing to do!"
IMG_7874MagsCamPlay
"MRFFF!"
"BOOM!"
IMG_7876MagsCamPlay
"Help!  HELP!  A Crazed River Otter's got me!!!"
"C'mere, you!"

Just a little reminder to Maggie - be careful what you start.  You might be the one getting BOOMed!

Cammie!

PS:  We'll be in the Studio later today, if anyone wants to join us for CROG!

Lovely View

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  This is the view Mom normally has on our walks:

IMG_7846MagsCamWalk
Me and Cam

That's Dad's view, too. Beautiful, don't you think? What could be better than Cam and me, doing what Siberians love to do -- walk. Out in front. Because it's in our blood to do so. We don't pull or anything, we just like to walk out in front.  It's perfect!  And right.

Anyway, the other day, Mom started acting all weird on our walk, trying to race out ahead. She got this shot of Cam:

IMG_7720CamWalk
Cam, stepping out smartly!

I turned to see what she was doing and ...

IMG_7721MagsWalk
"What are you doing, Mom?"

Wow.  A full-on shot of me.  Looking at her.

IMG_7725MagsCamWalk
"We better step up the pace, Cam."
"You're right.  We could have our Siberian ID cards revoked."

It was a close call.

Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher

Something's Missing

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  The other day, Maggie and I went downstairs to help Mom in her Studio for a while.  At first we helped by playing with our bones, then very shortly after we got the treats out of them, we played a bit, and then settled in for a nap.  Only ...

IMG_7798MagsCam
"Wait.  Something's missing."
"Really?  Everything seems fine to me."
IMG_7796MagsCam
"No, really.  Something's ... wait.  Where did the shark cage go?"
"Oh, that?  Hmm.  Maybe some pirates took it!"

Pirates?!?  In the Studio?  That seemed unlikely.  I hadn't seen any pirates down there.  But then I looked a little closer at Maggie and ...

IMG_7797MagsCrossBones
"Harrrr!  All I need now is a skull!  I've already got the crossed bones!"

I can't really wrap my head around Maggie being a pirate, but it would seem she is responsible for the shark cage not being there any more.

IMG_7791MagsCam
"I couldn't help it, Cam.  I missed 10 Downing Street too much!"
"I understand, Mags."

She loves to sleep in 10 Downing Street at night, so Mom and Dad (not pirates) moved it back upstairs for her.  We might get another shark cage to put in the Studio.

Serene Scenery Sunday

Greetings to all!  It's me, Mags!  For our foray into serenity this week, Cam and I thought we'd take you along on our morning walk!  Get a quick drink, then let's go!

Here we are, winding through one of the neighboring neighborhoods:

IMG_7800MagsCamMud
"I think this means we're heading to the park, Cam!"
"MUD!!!  Right straight ahead!  Look at that lovely MUD!"

Cam really loves mud. I mean big time!

Anyway, sure enough, we walked to the park!

IMG_7805MagsCamCiCoPark
"This is so awesome!  So many smells!"
"I smell more mud!  And horse and cow manure!  How wonderful!"

Talk about serenity! We were having so much fun that we even agreed to pose on one of the retaining walls:

IMG_7806MagsCamCiCoPark
Me and Cam, sitting quite nicely, thank you!

Well, yeah. Not "looking at the camera".  We couldn't help it. There was someone in one of the livestock buildings. We HAD to stare!

Just when Mom was starting to wonder if we were getting tired ...

IMG_7808MagsPlayBowCam
"Ha roo!  Play bows, Cam!  Are you up for a round of Crazed River Otter Games?"
"Well ..."
IMG_7815CamPlay
"YES!  C'mere, you little Crazed River Otter, you!"

Ha. Mom's funny! "Tired".  We had a great round of CROG!

Once we left the park, we were back to the business of walking.

IMG_7821MagsCamMud
"Hey.  Someone left a giant candy corn in the middle of the sidewalk!"
"Gosh, Mags.  We might have to step in some of that glorious mud to get around it!"

What a great walk! I hope you enjoyed coming along! Have a serene Sunday!

Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher

Double Up

Hello, everyone! It's me, Cammie. Maggie and I cam across this interesting sign on our walk the other day.

IMG_7760MagsCamSign
" 'ONE LANE ROAD AHEAD'.  Huh."
"We'd best double up, Maggie!"

We made sure to walk close to each other until we got way past that sign!

So Tired!

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie! Sometimes, after I've been playing really hard with one of my toys ...

IMG_7318MagsPlaying

... I need to take a quick break.

Some breaks last longer than others.

Beautiful Day!

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  Yesterday was just a beautiful day!  We're getting warmer, more Spring-like temps, which means longer walks for us girls!  After our walk, we did the normal stuff throughout the day - played, napped, played with toys, ran around like Crazed River Otters -- the basics.  In the late afternoon, it was so nice and sunny out on our deck, that Mom said we should all go out there and relax for a while!

The squirrels were chatting away, the birds were tweeting their love songs, and ...

IMG_7754MagsCamSingAlong
"Ha roooooo!"
"Ha woooooo!"

... we Siberians were singing the songs of our people!

What a BEAUTIFUL day!!  We hope your days are just as lovely!

Shark Cage

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  You know, Cam and I have really been enjoying having 10 Downing Street transformed into a shark cage!  We love to race down the stairs, then Cam dives into the cage, and I do a shark attack.  It's great fun.  Then we take a break.

IMG_7608MagsCamStudio
"Zzz ... "
"Zzz ... "

Oh.  Except that sometimes ...

IMG_7606MagsCamStudio
"Thaaaaaat's right.  The shark has taken over the shark cage!"
"I've got to learn how to shut that door!"

What can I say?  We both like being able to "den" in there!

Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher

De-Feet

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie.  Over here.

IMG_7593Mags
"I have a question for you."
IMG_7594MagsFeet
"Does this photo make my feety-feet look big?"
IMG_7595Mags
"No, really.  Be honest.  It does - right?"

I mean really!  It's just that the angle makes my feet look big -- and everything gets a bit exaggerated.  It's not like I need my snowshoes and nails trimmed, it's just the weird perspective of that shot.  Right?

I will not accept defeat in this matter.  Or de-feet, either.

Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher

Serene Scenery Sunday

Greetings to all!  It's me, Mags, here with Serene Scenery Sunday!  This week, it's all about the walks we took.  The following pix are from different walks on different days - we covered a lot of different, fun routes!

We went up some cool hills:

IMG_7625MagsCamHill
"I wonder what's beyond the crest of the hill!"
"Maybe something exciting!"

We walked beside calming meadows:

IMG_7664CamMagsWalk
"I feel very serene, Maggie!"
"So do I!  It's so peaceful!"

We ventured into the woods:

IMG_7668MagsCamWoods
"Lions and tigers and bears!"
"Oh, MY!"

No lions, tigers, or bears, but we DID see a coyote - but not in the woods. He was right in one of the neighborhoods! They are beautiful, but like all wild animals, we need to keep a safe distance between us and them.  We also saw a very large orange and white cat in a tree.

Here we are in one of the neighborhoods:

IMG_7683MagsCamWalk
"We haven't gotten to go this way in a long time, Cam!"
"I know!  The slight warm-up isn't all bad, if it means longer walks!

We even walked all the way to CiCo Park this morning!

IMG_7684MagsCamCiCoPark
"This is so awesome!"
"This is so much fun - and look at that beautiful blue sky!!"

Unfortunately, the pop stand was closed:

IMG_7685MagsCamPopstand
"Let's blow this pop stand, Cam!  We can get some nice, cold water when we get home."
"Too bad - I really wanted a cherry soda!  Or grape!!"

We posed on some limestone chunks by one of the entrances to Hudson Trail:

IMG_7690CamMagsLimestonePose
Cam and me, being good girls!

That leg of the trail was incredibly muddy. Sadly for us, Mom and Dad decided we shouldn't venture down there. They have an entirely different concept of serene than we do.

Anyway - what a week full of fun walks!  Thanks for coming with us!  Cam and I hope you have a serene Sunday!

Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher

Blowing In The Wind

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  As you know, we've had some mighty Kansas-y days here lately. Very windy and wild.  This has made our walks even more enjoyable, as you can imagine!

There we were the other morning ...

IMG_7614MagsCamWalk
"Anything exciting up here, Cam?"
"Only an over-turned soccer goal."

There was stuff flying all over the place!

When we got to my favorite hill to go up ...

IMG_7618CamHill
"Trash-a-pa-looza!"

Can you see the wind blowing my fur on the back of my head?  That same wind was over-turning trash bins and blowing garbage all over the place!

IMG_7619MagsCamHill
"If we hurry, we can catch up with the trash truck!"
"Come on, Mom!  Step it up!"

It made for a very interesting walk!  I hope you're enjoying some Spring weather, too!  Have a happy weekend!

Cammie!
