More Parallel Living

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie.  Even before our great brothers and sisters started this blog over eight years ago, "we" here at Ao4 Headquarters have been friends with Meeshka and her family.  It would appear that in many, many ways, we live parallel lives - you can read part of it here and here, if you'd like.  So it came as no surprise to any of us, as we read Meeshka's latest post, that there are even more similarities.

As part of their bedtime routine, Meeshka, Sam, and Loki get two bedtime cookies.  We also get two bedtime cookies!  We wait for Mom to get them from the cookie jar, then Cam and I race into the bedroom!  It's great!

Meeshka also mentioned the water bowl set up.  They have two water bowls; we have two water bowls.  (Judging from her human woman's cartoon, I'd say we even have the same bowls.)  But Meeshka and the boys only drink from the left-hand bowl.  Guess what?

"Slurpity slurp slurp..."

That's right. Cam and I only drink from the left-hand bowl, too.

If one of us is drinking and the other one is thirsty, do we use the other bowl?

"Well, I could use that other bowl, but ..."

No. We'd rather share.

"Mind if I join you?"
"Not at all."

The only time we use the other bowl is when Mom starts thinking about just ditching that one and only having one water bowl down for us. It's the Siberian way.

Yours truly,
Margaret Thatcher

  1. oh oh - we also get two bedtime cookies and do zoomie circles into the bedroom waiting for them - and we also have two water bowls - but only drink from one - now the big question is do you take your treats outside to eat - like a nice tasty bone or bully stick - they are the best eaten outside in the cold :)

  3. Me and Stanley like the left food bowl. Even if I am storing my ball in it and the other one is full of food we prefer the left one.

  4. Cinderella and I do the same. We have two raised feeders with a food and water bowl in each. That way we can both have one and eat at the same time, right? BOL! Nope, we both use only one. But we like to alternate which one we're using to keep Momma on her toes. Sometimes it's the left one, sometimes it's the right one. You never know!

  5. So you live parallel lives with Meeshka and co, and my mum lives parallel lives with their human woman. It's all a bit spooky!

  6. We only have one water dish per room, but we prefer to drink out of it at the same time. However, we do take turns at the kibble bowl (we are free-fed kibble and we get our canned supper in separate rooms so there is no potential food-angst). We get our bedtime bully sticks PROMPTLY at 8pm and if Mom is a minute late, well, lemme tell ya, she TOTALLY hears about it!

  7. Really bizarre. We too have two water bowls, and all of us, even Angel Dakota and Angel Thunder, only drink from the left hand bowl ( unless we are desperate and the left one is empty). We also race to our beds or crate when it is bedtime to await the dispensing of the cookies:) Must be the Siberian way for sure.

  11. BOL - our pups get 5 bed times bones. ...and they count! Occasionally, they trick Dad into letting them have 6.

    (They are tiny bones).

  12. We get two bedtime snacks too! But all of us---even the cats---share the same water bowl! And we do like to drink at the same time, but not with a cat. We have some standards!
