She used a recipe she used to make for the original Ao4 (find it at this link) for Pumpkin Oat Cookies. She formed part of the dough into pretzels!
"Look, girls!" "Looking ... looking very intently, Mom. Let's get on to the tasting!" "Are those really for us?" |
Mom said the pretzel-shaped ones were an experiment and that we could each have one! I took mine into the living room.
"Really?!!? For ME?!!?" |
I had never had homemade dog treats before, so I wanted to enjoy every moment! We both took our time eating them, being sure to chew thoroughly and everything. Cammie had hers on our bed in the breakfast room:
"YUM! Nice and hard and crunchy, Mom!" |
Mom saved a bunch of the dough overnight in the fridge. On day two, she decided to make cut-out cookies. She rolled the dough nice and thin, then cut them out with this:
"Hello!" |
Yep! A bone-shaped cookie cutter. And as you can see, I was on hand to help. I watched her roll the dough out, cut the cookies, then line them up on the baking sheets.
"What are those seed thingies? I didn't see those in the recipe!" |
Mom decided to roll them in flax seed, as an added nutty crunch and for the health benefits!
We decided to make a double batch because a friend of ours is celebrating his 14th birthday today! (Happy birthday, Seamus!!!) Mom stuck a couple dozen in the fridge and will deliver them to him tomorrow!
Cookies for Seamus! |
There were plenty of the cut-out style still available for us! Cam and I felt it was our duty to try them out. You know - make sure they're OK. Wouldn't want to give Seamy sub-standard treats!
"Yep. Need to do a taste-test on these!" "Our work is never done." |
I think Cam and I could really get used to this whole homemade dog treats thing! Do your peeps make cookies for you? Mom's recipe is really simple - maybe your bipeds will try it out for you!
Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher

Oh yes, we have had some homemade treats like that before too. Now that you mention it, we think it has been way too long since the Momster made us some. Off to bug her now. We can almost smell them from here:)

We get pumpkin treats, too, and they work to get us to sit nicely for pictures. Well, mostly. You can see how they work in our Valentine's post (which you might want to check out anyway to see who the winner of our Valentine's Hearts for the Herd contest is!).
ReplyDeleteWe would totally love to do that, only pumpkin really hard to get hold of over here. It doesn't come canned or anything apart from in specialist shops. pooey!
ReplyDeleteYou is a lot more careful with your treats than me, I would have gobbled it right up!
Oh my goodness, your mom is the best mom ever! Those cookies look soooooo good! How could you not gobble them all up!
