Alert!

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie.  When Cam and I aren't confined to certain areas of the house due to the remodel, I resume my Guard Duty duties.  Guard Duties?  Whatever.

One of my favorite posts by is this window in the Living Room:

Me, on Guard Duty

If I see something amiss, it's my duty let everyone know something is out there!

Oh, not by making noise. I don't do that. Nor does Cam. We're Siberians. Here's how Mom knows something is going on:

Me, giving the alert

Yep! A sure sign!

You do see the changes in my ear posture, right? That's how we Siberians let our people know. How do you let yours know if you see something?

Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher

  1. We are quite a bit noisier that you are. Barking is our usual alert.

  2. You two are the best kinda guards...quiet which allows you to sneak up on introooooders.
Our mighty mini dachshund way back in the 70's knew which door bell was the front and which was the back.
He went in dach mach speed to which every door was necessary then he'd bark. Dachshunds don't have the word 'quiet' in the vocabulary

  3. Ohhhh, subtlety. Interesting technique. I don't bark (except at those evil balloons Momma put in the house last weekend!), but I'll whine.

  4. Maggie, we hope your mom is well versed in subtlety, though judging from the picture we'd say yes :)
depending on what is gong on outside, we might use a similar ear technique, or we sort of sit all forward at attention, but if it is somebuddy knocking at our door our mom knows, even if she doesn't hear it, by our dashes for cover :D

  5. I wish that I could be silent like you, Maggie, but we Terriers don't work like that!

  7. Well, I am a German Shepherd so I bark very loudly in German. Sometimes mum and dad don't understand everything I say though, coz mum only knows about five words in German. ~ Rambo Hemsworth

  8. Gurl, I have found this out furst hand that you Sibes are very quiet doggies! Our nextdoor neighbor got a Sibe not 8 months ago, and hardly ever hears her!! She is adorables, butts QUIET! I am the loud mouth and barks at all the tree rats ~ you knows what she does??? she catches RATS! yuppers! She caught a couple of them, and Ma looks at me, and asks me what MY problems is! yeah, I'm more of a tree rat gal, so I leave the ratting duties to my neighbor! BOL!!! Anyhu, nice job alerting the peeps! ☺

  9. You sure are subtle, Maggie! So your mom has to watch you constantly to know if something is out there? Woo, that is hard! Shyla is our guard dog, and she is SO LOUD!!!!

  10. That's right! Siberians don't bark unless it is an emergency!
