Another One?

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me - Zim!  Hey, no sweat on me wearing the Hoodie!  I'm not letting it slow me down one BIT!  Prior to yesterday's photo, I had been doing major league zoomies, then hid up there on the catwalk hoping to jump out at Dave!  Ha roo roo roo!  I love doing that!  And no Hoodie is going to get in my way!

Anyway, remember Dave and I showed you our driveway - or lacking thereof?  I thought you'd like a little update.  Remember we showed you some guys pouring concrete where (apparently) Maude the Bully Cat had dug it up?  Well, we're still not allowed to drive the cars on it, but the driveway itself is looking really good!

IMG_4377 Zim
"Ah!  What a fine, fine job!"

I thought it was a closed case ... until I walked outside the other day!  I looked down the street and saw this:

IMG_4475 Zim
"What's going on down there?!?"

I was standing in our yard. Then you have Maude the Bully Cat's house, then our neighbors' house (we'll call them the M's). What's that going on in the M's driveway?!!? Let's go take a closer look!!!

IMG_4477 Zim
"Someone ripped out their driveway, too!?  Hmmm..."

Does anyone else find this a little suspicious?  Our driveway was ripped out ... the M's driveway was ripped out ... but Maude TBC's, which is right smack in the middle, was left intact.  How odd.  Or convenient.  Or just plain suspicious!

I'll be sure to keep you posted!

Lots of Work To Do

Woo, everypup and everycat!  It's me, Dave!  Mom's been working on lots of projects down in the Studio lately.  You know what that means!

IMG_4410 Dave
"Are you sure you want to put those colors together, Mom?"
A Guide Dog for the Color Blind's work is never done.

Yep.  I've got LOTS of work to do!

Hey, before I forget!  Have you seen the cool thing our friends Jack and Moo are doing?  Look over there in our sidebar -- see the "Show Us Your Treat Jar" thingie?  If you click it, it will take you to Jack and Moo's blog and they explain everything!  As former residents of our local shelter, Zim and I think this is a really great idea!  Hope you'll join with everyone!

Have a great day; I've got to get busy!!!

Luv,
Dave

"Yo, DayV... check dis out..."

IMG_4175 Davy
"Mom... that's not true... is it?  Sergio?!?!"
"Yes, Davy... yes, it is..."

Sergio rappin' out Mas Que Nada - listen an' watch for yo'sef:

(Click here if that won't play.)

I think DayV might be down with rappin' after all!

And WORD!  The Legendary Queen Meeshka saw the cover art DayV was workin' up for me.  She gave her human woman the claw and had her do the PERFECT 'toon!  Yo, check dis out:

Serene Scenery Sunday

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me, Zim, here with a photo-packed edition of Serene Scenery Sunday.  Mom and I took the good camera out around the house this morning so we could show you all the colors that fill us with all kinds of inner calmness - so let's get right to business!

Our big White Ash Tree by the deck is starting to turn pretty colors:

DSCN2367 White Ash

And see those drops of water on there?!?  We had something called RAIN yesterday!!!  We haven't seen any for a long, long time and are in something called a "drought", so we were really happy to have a few showers go through the area.  (We are also very thankful that friends in Texas and Oklahoma have reported RAIN!)

The different sedum plants are still flowering:

DSCN2380 Sedum

Mom refers to that variety as "pink broccoli". I worry about her sometimes...

The Rose of Sharon bushes still have a few blooms! Here's a look at the pink one:

DSCN2388 Rose of Sharon

Speaking of pink, check the Crape Myrtle:

DSCN2393 Crape Myrtle

What a blast of color!

Out front, the Mums are in full swing! Here are a few shots for your viewing pleasure:

Mom planted some really strange stuff in our mailbox planter a month or so ago, when the petunias were done blooming. Check out this crazy thing:

Doesn't it look like something out of a science fiction movie?!?

Our Purple Ash is starting to turn colors, too. Can you see it down there?

Here's a look at the top:

Before we know it, it will be all purply!  Dave and I will keep you posted!

I hope our look at Fall colors helped you feel nice and serene!  Have a great Sunday!

How To Get Out Of The Hood(ie)

Ha roo, pups and cool cats.  It's me - Zim.  Thanks for letting me be a Rap Star for a few days.  It was really pretty fun, but in reality, I'm still just a guy stuck wearing the Party Hat.  Sure, calling it a "Hoodie" helps, but how to ditch it for a while?  (I mean, other than the "stop trying to open your incision back up" thing.  Ha roo - like that's going to happen!)  If you look sad enough ...

IMG_4430 Zim
"Sigh!"

...and you look at your mom with this look on your face when she asks how you're doing...

IMG_4375 Zim
"Sigh.  I'm OK, Mom."

...well, you just might be able to toss the Hoodie aside for a while and head here:

IMG_4415 Hudson Trail

To the Hudson Trail!!! We love that place!!!

IMG_4419 Zim on the Hudson Trail
"Now THIS is what I'm talking about!  SQUIRREL CHECK!"

Oh, YEAH!  Nothing can put a smile back on my face like a great walk!  Dave agrees!

IMG_4416 Dave on the Hudson Trail
"Yeah, Zimmie.  This comes a little more natural-like than being a Rap Star*!"

I hope all of you get to get out of the Hood(ie)  (if you're in one), and go out and do some exploring this weekend!

Play bows,
Zimmie!

The Making of a Star, Part 4

Yo! Wut up, pups and cool cats?  DJ Zimmie Z comin' at you.  Many thanks for the props on 'Sta-Gator Rap #1!  You da best!  I'm working now on puttin' a whole collection together.  DayV's down with that whole iPad scene - so I know he can tag me some cool kinda cover art.

IMG_4361 DayV
"Sure,  Zim .  I mean Z-Bomb.  I'll see what I can do.
Actually I can't see much at all right now..."

He got his snooter right to it.  Fo-get movie night - DayV is workin'!

IMG_4396 Dave
..."singin' 'Whiskey for my men!  And beer for my horses...'  Woo...
Oh... uh... this is just a rough draft, umm... Z Master Flash.  Workin' on a theme..."

Is it me?  Or is DayV not really as down with the whole Rap Scene as I am?  I gave him cred for his design, but said I needed to look more baaaaaaaad.  This is what he came up with:

ZimstaGator

Ummm... see what I'm sayin'?

IMG_4369 Zim
"S'up wis dat?"

What's a rap star to do?  'Zactly.  Turn to Mom.  Here's what she came up with:

IMG_4353fX Zim
The Zimsta-Gator!

Gettin' there.  Just needs some taggin' here and there, an adjustment to my hat, and I'm good to go!

The Making of a Star, Part 3

(We're going to count Word Up Wednesday as Part 2.  Part 1 was Tuesday.)

Yo, s'up, pups and cool cats.  The Zimsta-Gator comin' at you.  You're in for a real treat today, 'cuz I'm releasing my first Rap Song.  Blogger is dissin' my vids, so I'm puttin' it to paper for you.  Have one of your peeps rap it out loud for you!  Are you ready?!?

IMG_4341 Zim
Gatherin' my thoughts before my rap

'Sta-Gator Rap #1

Ya, I try to be so good
Like a S-S-Sibe should
But this incision really itches,
Word up, man-pups and uh... girl pups.
So I gots to wear the Party Hat
See what I'm sayin' 'bout that -
Cone of Shame's not where it's at!
The Lampshade's not for this cool cat!
So I gave it a new name
So it's not so very lame!
Yo, yo, yo!  I'm in the Hoodie.

IMG_4342 Zim
"Word."
IMG_4343 Zim

And now, word from my mom!

Thank you ... umm ... 'staGator Z.  Hi readers! You may remember that the boys took a blog break back in August. The short story is that Zim had to have another surgery. You know we like to keep the blog up-beat, so I haven't said anything here. Zim is doing very well, except that he still can't leave his incision alone. Because he still wants to "help" it, if we aren't walking him or don't have eyes directly on our charming, yet fast and sneaky Siber-boy, he is still wearing the "Comfy Cone". We've taken some steps to make sure he doesn't see it as a negative and try to make it as positive of an experience as we can.  Hopefully, you can now understand our game of Zim being a "Rap Star".  If Zim sees something as "cool", he's all for it.  :)  But seriously, he's doing very well, so let's just get on to celebrating life!!! Thanks - KZK.  Back to you, Zim Dawg!

Aw, shucks.  Thanks, Mom.

IMG_4344 Zim
Even rap stars have sensitive sides!

I think I need some artwork for my first CD cover.  Maybe DayV can come up with something for me!  He's a really good artist.

The Making of a Star, Part 1

Woo, everypup and almosteverycat.  Well, no, let's include everycat today.  It's me - Dave.  So... I put in a really full day yesterday, and come late afternoon, I wanted nothing more than to kick back and catch a few Zs.

I was right about here:

IMG_4346 Dave
Me, about to enter the nap zone

...when Zim yelled that he had a really great idea and I should come on out to the living room.

IMG_4355 Zim
"Hey, Dave!  C'mon out here!  Let's become rap stars!!!"

Rap stars?!?  He's kidding, right?

I reminded him I'm from Texas and that I'd be way more comfortable doing Country/Western music.  He really wanted my help ... but ... rap?!!?

IMG_4349 Dave
"A little Texas Swing would be nice..."

Stay tuned to see how this one's going to go!

Luv,
Dave

PS:  Zim wanted me to sign off as "Day V", but I'm not really sure about this whole thing...

Working on Monday

Woo, everypup and almosteverycat.  It's me - Dave. It's Monday, and I've got my work cut out for me today. Zim and I already went on a nice, long walk this morning, then enjoyed coffee on the deck with Mom and Dad. Well... they had the coffee; Zim and I enjoyed the cool air out back! But this is Monday, the start of the work-week! It's supposed to be in the 90s later today, and I've got my work cut out for me!

IMG_4249 Dave
"I love it when a cold breeze blows out of this thing!"

That's right. I'll be guarding the ever-important AC vent.  It's a very important job; rest assured - I'm just the pup for it!

Have a good Monday.  Don't work too hard.  Woo.

Luv,
Dave

Serene Scenery Sunday

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me, Zim, here with this week's installment of Serene Scenery Sunday.  I had a look around the front yard earlier in the week and thought you might like seeing what's blooming out there!

Let's look over here!  The mums are starting to bloom!

IMG_4294 Zim & the Mums

Aren't the pink ones cool?!!?

IMG_4295 Zim & the Mums

They look good enough to eat, don't they?  Umm... not that I'd do that or anything!  Here's a closer look:

IMG_4297 Pink Mum

How about a close-up of a gold one?

IMG_4296 Gold Mum

Mom said the gold ones really say "Autumn" to her!  I gave a listen, but I didn't hear them say anything.  Go figure!

Over to the right of them, Mom has some pots with Coleus-es in them:

IMG_4292 Zim, Mums, Coleus

They are cuttings from that big pot on the front porch; Mom stuck them in water for a while, then re-potted them.

IMG_3835 Zim & the Coleus

Very colorful!  Mom wants to plant them again next year!

Oh!  There's one more thing out front that made Mom and Dad feel mighty serene.  A big truck showed up and some guys poured a bunch of concrete where our driveway used to be:

IMG_4286 pouring the driveway!

For some reason, Dave and I didn't get to go out there when that was going on.  Yeah.  I don't understand that one myself!

Hope your Sunday is nice and serene.

Zim

Hudson Trail Adventure

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me - Zim!  The fun continues out front - or as Mom calls it "the big mess out front" and as Dad calls it "the sooner it starts, the sooner it's finished out front".  Whatever!  Dave and I think it's pretty intriguing!  I don't have any photo updates for you, but I'll be sure to take some later.  I thought I'd finally tell you about the great walk we took Mom on last weekend!

Dad was out doing something important (I do believe it involved a small, white ball and some clubs...), so Dave and I were doing our best to keep Mom entertained.  We were doing such a good job that she said we could go on an extra walk - but "just to the corner".  (Ha roo roo roo...)

We were walking like the very well-behaved boys that we are and it was incredibly nice out, so Mom kept going ... and going ... and before we knew it, we were at the Hudson Trail!

IMG_4213 Dave & Zim
"Can we keep going, Mom?!?!"

That's one of our very favorite places to walk - there are tons of great smells and it's all shady and it's the best spot in town for squirrel sightings! I didn't see any that day, but I did have to check!

IMG_4215 Dave & Zim
"Hey!  Is anysquirrel up there?!?"

We had a great time walking and snoofing!

IMG_4216 Dave & Zim

We were getting down to serious walking business in that pic above - can you tell?!?

When we reached the end of this part of the trail ...

IMG_4218 Zim

...Mom said we should really turn around and head back. We were OK with that. There were cool things we passed by the first time that we wanted to go back and check out - like this!

IMG_4221 Dave
"Woo, Zim!  Check out the size of this mole tunnel!!!"

Isn't that incredible!??  That had to be one HUGE mole!  I checked it out, too.

IMG_4222 Zim
"We need to notify an expert!"

My immediate thought was my pal Jack!  Even his sister Moo admits he's the Holey Moley King!  I had Mom post the pic to FaceBook and sure enough - he confirmed that it was an incredible find!  Dave and I remain on alert for an all-out attack by giant moles!  Maybe we'll get Mom to take us "just to the corner" today, so we can see if it's still down there by the Trail!

Have an adventure-filled weekend!
Play bows,
Zim
