"Mom! Up in the cul-de-sac! Check it out!" |
Can you see them? It's my friend Fluffy Black Cat and a cat I haven't met before!
That's FBC on the left. (Sadly, she's been mostly shaved. Don't get me and Mom started about that.) They saw me, and FBC must have said something to the new kit-cat about me because she started coming down the hill to meet me!
"That's Zim; he's my friend." "Mrrrr-ow?" |
Not the best photo, but you get the idea.
We communed at a distance (no photos; Mom wanted "control" of the situation - HA!), then my new friend went off to do kit-cat things. We ran into each other again on our evening walk, but before I show you the photos, let me explain why they will look a bit "off". Take a look out back with me:
"Wowzers!" |
Can you see the smoke over the hills? Here's the view off our deck:
Yes! It's prairie and field burning time! A sure sign of Spring! (They burn to maintain the integrity of the prairie! Please click here if you'd like to learn more about the controlled burn practices and how important it is to our Flint Hills area!) So anyway ...
After dinner, we all went on our after-dinner walk. It was fairly uneventful until ...
"Look, you guys! Peeking out from behind that trailer!" |
Maggie was in the lead, so she saw her first! It was my friend from earlier!
"Mrrr-ow? Zim? Is that you?" |
She and I had a nice, silent exchange and were really having a nice moment, when "something" freaked her out, and she darted into the street!
"Not in front of the vehicle!!! NO!!! Careful, little kit-cat!" |
Whew! Fortunately, she waited until the SUV passed by. Do you know what made her dash off? Umm...
"And just STAY AWAY, kit-cat!" |
Umm... yeah. It was an "all family" walk. Cam can't help herself. It's the Siberian prey drive thing. As most of you know, I stood in the Play Drive line instead of the Prey Drive line when God was giving out Siberian traits. Cam got in the line most Sibes get in. And Maggie? Well ...
"Is that something I can play with?" |
I'm trying to bring her over to the Camp Zimmie side, but it's hard to go against instincts.
Have a wonderful Sunday - I hope you get to share time with some special friends!
Play bows,
Zim
You sure are a friend with all creatures Zim brother. I think I must have gotten in line with Cam-a-roo. Well the prey drive for cats. I try to change butt... And how interesting you say, "hope you spend time with some special friends." I AM. Mr. Mark is here and we have spent a lot of time together this weekend. Wish the rain/snow would stop so we can go on another hike. Have a beautiful weekend friend.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
Zimmie, we're glad you got in the right line and hope you make sure Maggie comes to your side too! We love seeing you with your kit-cat friends!
ReplyDeleteWe must have gotten BETWEEN both of those lines somehow.
ReplyDeleteYour kitty furends are really quite Nice.
The play drive line. HA! Good one Zimmie.
ReplyDeleteWhew! We are glad your little kit cat friend didn't get squished by that car.
ReplyDeleteMom says she wishes she had known there were two lines for that drive - especially if they had one for the play or prey drive rabbits!
ReplyDeleteWoos - Phantom, Ciara, and Lightning
We know all to well about prey drive over here. You are lucky to have humans that understand it, and always keep you safely leashed.
ReplyDeleteCracking up about the "play drive"
I wish I was more like you Zim but iI really am a lot like Cammie. I always feel like I need to protect my family, even when they don't need it.
ReplyDeleteLove Sasha
I love the Camp Zimmy side! We've had a variety of drives in our pack too. Shyla is our first who truly likes cats. I loved your story!
ReplyDeleteOur household is also split Zimmie, I love kitties...and always want to make friends. Jakey...welllllll, Mama says it is the terrier in him that drives his prey instinct.
ReplyDeleteSmileys!
Dory
Zim of Zen you are such a cool dude. We would be so chasing too given half the chance unlike you. You really know how to put the P in play. Have a marvellous Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Both of us got into the prey drive line too, Zim. You knew how to read, huh!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots♥
Mitch and Molly
Yikes, I'm sure glad you were there for traffic control!
ReplyDeleteWe think those kitty kats are teasers and not friends at all. They think they are so cool off leash. Anyway, that prairie thing is interesting
ReplyDeleteLily & Edward
Zim, you and I are one with the kitty-cats. I love them all too but they don't always love me. Your sisters are more typical. Maybe you CAN convert 'em!
ReplyDeleteYour friend, Kiki
