That's Fair!

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  Guess what's in town?  That's right - the Riley County Fair and Kaw Valley Rodeo!  We just HAD to make sure our walk took us through the park yesterday so we could check everything out!

First we stopped by the Snow Cone concession:

"Wait.  That place over there has Hawaiian Shave Ice - what's the difference?"
"About a dollar.  Ha roo woo roo!"

For some reason, neither the Snow Cone place nor the Hawaiian Shave Ice place is open at 0700.  I have no idea why not - we would have made it worth their while!  Fortunately for us, Dad had our canteen, so we took a couple water breaks instead.

Cam checked out this place:

"Who's ready for some barbecue?!?"

They weren't open, either.  We decided to check out the animals at the fair instead.

"Hey, Mags!  Check this out!  Little horses!"

"Hello, little horsie!"
"Ha roo!"

They were pretty friendly!

We walked around a bit more and I saw these guys!

"What the what?!!?"

They are SHEEP!  I've never seen sheep in real life before - just the ones who do mattress commercials on TV.  They look a lot different in person.  And wow, are they smelly!  It was quite possibly the highlight of our trip to the fair/rodeo, as far as I was concerned!

Speaking of the rodeo, we walked over to where the rodeo stars hang out during the day next.  Cam wanted her picture taken with this guy:

"Hey, Mom!  Take my picture with my new friend!"

We are very good girls around horses and most of them really like us.

This guy was Mom's favorite:

I went over to see if any of these guys would like to meet me.

"Greetings!  I'm Polargold's Margaret Thatcher!"

Horses always appreciate good manners.  A couple of them came closer to me ...

"Howdy, little pup!"
"Would you like to be my friend?"

I figured since he came over to say "howdy" (that's what rodeo stars like him say), he'd like to be my friend.  And so ...

"Nose bumps!"

He was a very nice horse!

Even though we didn't get to have Snow Cones, we did have a blast at the Fair and Rodeo!  Thanks for letting us show you around!

Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher

  1. WOW! That was a super adventure walk seeing all those new friends! And too bad about the snow cones not being available, that would have been like Christmas in July!

  2. OMD'S!!!!!!!! What a FABulous time!!!! Oh man, I bets those sheepies stunk! BOL!!! If they smell anythings like Bison, they probably smell to high heaven! (that's MA's opinion, I thinks they probably smell DELISH! hehehe) And those horsies are just beautifuls!!! And sweet! I've never nose bumped a horsie befores! How pawsome was that??!! Sorry abouts the snowcones....maybe next time your Pops can buy like 87 hundred of them and you can roll in them!
    Thanks for the tour!
    Ruby ♥

  3. I think you two ladies picked the best time to visit even w/o snow cones. I bet when all the 2 leggers get there it will be hot a blue blazes.
OMCs you kisses a horse. I wonder if there is a pin or a bumper sticker saying, "I kissed a horse and I liked it?"
    hugs madi your bfff

  4. YES WE 3 are very tired of the reno. It started 6/20..we were given a 4-6 week duration. Week 6 is next week. Major things left:
guest bath 2nd floor needs old floor vanity and wall paper removed. Then new floor, walls painted and vanity.
After that carpet will be installed in guest room, 2nd floor hall, and study. LBT flooring will be installed in my blog office and the 2nd floor storage room. That is it for inside except all the touch up on the walls from carpet installation and moving furniture.
At some point next week my computer will be unplugged but hopefully just for one day. Yep we are D O N E stick a fork in us
    Hugs madi your bfff

  5. That looks like a great fair!!! And some beautiful horses for sure. All the big and little peeps got to go to the Shaved Ice Shack yesterday and got some wacky flavors. They must have been good because everyone came home with big smiles (and sticky fingers).

    Woos - Ciara and Lightning

  6. Mom and dad go to the Durham Fair every year and we NEVER get to go! You girls are beyond lucky! That was very sweet that you gave the horsie a kiss, Maggie♥

  7. How cool that you got a kiss from a horse! You two sure had fun exploring the fair.

  8. Wow, you got to nose bump a horse? You are a lucky doggie!

    Your Pals,

    Murphy & Stanley

  9. You should totally have had a Sno Cone! Or three.
