"Ready to rock and roll?" "I love Rock and Roll! And some Samba music, too ..." |
And Mom says I get side-tracked easily! Anyway ...
"Pan left, Mom!" "I thought this way was left ..." "I think she means my left, Cam." |
Here are a couple looks at the huge bed out front:
The more-or-less middle part |
The far end part |
Oh! See those intense purple flowers in there? They are one of the few things blooming here. Take a closer look:
Grecian Windflowers |
Mom loves them and their rich burst of color!
In addition to the front and all the tiers on both sides of the house, the Wildflower Garden out back is mulch-based. Dad hauled a lot of mulch down the hill to that garden. Here is Mom watering it in, after she spread it:
Wildflower Garden, ready to Spring to life! |
Things are growing down there, but no blooms yet. Not even the Lilacs! The one thing blooming down there is the Texas Quince. Here's a look:

This is the one time of year that Mom and Dad like them. Or maybe just Mom. They grow EVERYWHERE, spreading like wildfire, and have thorns. Dad isn't too keen on them, to say the least.
"But you like them, don't you ... Mom?" "We should dig them out if Dad hates them. I ❤️ my Daddy!" |
Anyway, that's a wrap for now. Mom and Dad had great timing getting everything done. After a few days of lots of sun and temps in the 60s and 70s, we had a big change overnight and now are having a sleet storm. Our temps were in the 20s, with windchills in the teens. Kansas is SO COOL!!!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher
I don't know how you spread all that mulch every year!! Momma barely keeps up with the little we have.
