New Quilt on our Bed!

Um... I mean on Mom and Dad's bed.  Woo.

And woo again, everypup and everycat, it's me, Dave!  Mom has made several denim quilts over the years (with my help) to have on our bed.  Because that's the ONE piece of furniture we pups are allowed on, she only makes denim ones - so they can stand up to us and stand up to being washed every few days.  Imagine my surprise when I found her putting a NEW quilt on the bed that WASN'T denim!!!

She said she found it in a catalogue for a price she couldn't resist and so we'd just be real careful with it.  Since she didn't make it herself, I wasn't sure I'd like it, but I was willing to try it out.  I actually liked the colors very much!

"I like the colors, Mom.  Especially this aqua/spa blue one!"

Mom said she liked that one best, too. See what a good team we are?

I promised her I'd be really careful on it!

"I'll just lay here like a good little puppy!"

Mom was impressed, I just know it!

It was time to put it in the wash this weekend - and you all know who likes to help with the beds around here! Oh, no! He wouldn't, would he?!?! Not with the new...

"Ha ROOOO!!!"

Oh, no! I thought Mom might get upset at the way he was handling it, but Zim said not to worry - he's always careful. Then he flashed this smile at her ~

"I'm SGT Zim, and I'm here to help!"

Mom said something under her breath about why God made Siberian Huskies so cute ... I couldn't catch all of it.  I asked Zim if he heard, but he said he wasn't listening.

"Oh, Dave's right.  This new quilt is com-FY!  Zzzz..."

I think Zim is studying the fabric real close.  His snooter is right by that aqua and spa blue block, so I think he appreciates the colors and all.  I'll bet he likes that one best just like me and Mom.  

"Hey, all you babes out there.  Does this bring out the blue in my left eye?"

Woo.  Well, at least he was thinking about the colors!

A Dave at the Beach

Woo, everypup and everycat.  It's me - Dave.  It's another beautiful, sunny day out there today - perfect weather to hit the Kansas Ocean!!!

Yep, a walk at the Kansas Ocean sounds ideal, doesn't it?  Oh, don't worry; we've heard all about that nasty blue-green algae thing going on and are taking every precaution.  Also, we have two things going for us - 

1. We've never seen the Kansas Ocean mentioned by name in any of the articles
2. I like to stay up on the  sidewalk  boardwalk.  I have no interest in getting my feety-feet wet!

Who's up for a trip to the ocean?  Let's go!

Photo Finish Friday

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me - Zim!  For Photo Finish Friday, I thought I'd share some pix of me from a couple of walks we took earlier in the week.  It's been so nice out lately that we can take walks in the morning and in the afternoon!  It's been fabulous!

Here's a look at me out on one of our morning walks:

Can you imagine if I was really as tall as my shadow!?!  How cool would that be?!?  (Mom tried to get all of me in the frame, but I wouldn't fit!)

It was just a perfect picture postcard kind of day! Anyway, since she was busying herself with sunflowers and stuff, I was getting used to standing around waiting. She lulled me into a false sense of her not taking pix of me and Davy, then she turned and shot this:

She's sneaky, isn't she?  At least she got me looking rugged and outdoorsy!

Storm Watching How-To

Woo, everypup and almostevercat.  It's me, Dave, here with another one of my very helpful tutorials.  We haven't had any storms here in quite a while, but we did have one rip through the area a couple weeks ago. Since a lot of you are experiencing lots of rain and thunder and lightning and stuff right now, I thought you might benefit from seeing how I deal with storms.  Ready?

Being the weather geek that she is, Mom is constantly monitoring her 10-million weather apps on her iPhone and checks in to see what the local meteorologists and storm chasers are saying on FaceBook.  If there are storms in the area, we often do this:

We asked the rain to go to Texas to help out our friends who need the rain even more than we do (parts of Kansas are in a drought, but not where we are... we're just "low") - but it wasn't listening. In fact, it not only didn't go to Texas, it didn't even give us any rain!

We did get some loud thunder boomers and a cool light show, though. You can see how excited I got about the whole thing.

We're Back!!!

Woo, everypup and almosteverycat!  It's me, Dave!  Zim and I are BACK!  Actually, we hadn't gone anywhere... but we're back to blogging! It's been a long time, hasn't it? Since last Wednesday.  I hope you haven't forgotten about us!

"Did you miss us?"

Wait a minute!  She did what? When? The very next day?!?  Where?!?!

She was right there, huh?  Well, I don't mind her posing for pix and all, but how did The Bully Cat post to our blog?  She'd have to have the password to do that and ... I just don't know if that's such a hot idea.  Who would ... There's only one other guy who knows the password!!!

"Zimmie!  You ... you wouldn't, would you?"

He wouldn't ... would he?

"Well, yeah, but she said she'd be real nice and all, Dave.  I'm sure we can trust her!"

Watermelon!

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me - Zim!  Did you think it would be Dave because of the title!??  He's not the only watermelon lover in the family!

Did you see our friends Maggie and Mitch's reminder last week about National Watermelon Day?  We joined the celebration, we're just a little late posting a photo - check it out:

Look at how red and juicy that is!!! It was the best watermelon we've had this Summer!!!

PS: RE: Dave's photo from yesterday - he's fine! He has a boo-boo on his footy-foot that he wouldn't leave alone, so Mom made him wear the party hat when she couldn't have "hands on" him. He's great at laying on a pout-fest guilt trip, isn't he? Ha rooooo!

Known in some parts of the world as the Cicada, they are known as tasty, crunchy, noisy snacks in the Siberian world! ...if you can get to it before your mom or dad.

True, I missed pouncing on that one...

...but Dad wasn't quite fast enough when I spotted one earlier in the walk!  Ha roo roo roo!

Isn't it great when you can combine two fun activities - snacking and walking?!?!  What a great start to the weekend!

Photo Finish Friday

Ha roo, pups and cool cats.  It's me, Zim, here with Photo Finish Friday.  Since it's been so toasty out, Mom has been trying to get us boys to burn some energy off in the afternoons in a "productive way" - whatever that means!

Basically, since it's too hot to go on an afternoon walk, we've been playing with toys or helping out around the house or  posing for photos on  working out on the treadmill.  Stuff like that.  Yesterday, Dave was playing with his Squeaky Newspaper, so Mom decided to introduce a new toy to me.  It's a canvas Squeaky Panda.  I didn't know what toys were until I was adopted, so sometimes new toys ... well ...

New Fabric!

Woo, everypup and everycat!  It's me, Dave, Guide Dog for the Color Blind!  I'm all kinds of excited about some new fabric we got in!  The box came yesterday and I just knew right away it was something really cool!!!

"Woo!  These are so COOL!!!"

It's a collection of really cool Army-themed prints!!!

"Oh, yeah!  VERY cool!  Let's de-box and get a better look at them!"

Zim liked them, too, as you can see!

I have to have first crack at them, before they go in the wash, though.

"Don't look, Zim!"

I mean - it's all part of my duties as Mom's Guide Dog for the Color Blind.  Besides... I think Mom and I are going to make something cool for him. And for me.

"Dave!  Really?!?"
"Don't look at 'em, Zim!  It'll wreck the surprise!"

....is he still back there?  He's not looking at the cool new fabrics, is he?

"He's not looking, is he?  I want to surprise him!"

Duties As Assigned

Woo, everypup and everycat!  It's me, Dave - Guide Dog for the Color Blind.  Mom has been working hard down in the Studio on a new project.  I already gave her the go-ahead for everything she's putting together color-wise, but my job description also includes other "duties as assigned".  One such duty has me working very, very hard!

See, for this project, Mom is cutting up old pairs of blue jeans friends and family have sent her - then she uses them for part of the quilt.  My job?  Guard the jeans.

"Stop right there!"

It's a tough job, but somepuppy's gotta do it.
