Serene Scenery Sunday - Sunflower Edition

Ha roo, pups and cool cats! It's me - Zim - here with Serene Scenery Sunday. At first, I was going to give you a little garden tour...

Zim and the Smoke Tree
Me, checking on the Smoke Tree's progress

...but for some reason, I kept hearing that "NononoZimmienonono!" thing from Mom - and that just wasn't serene at all! Instead, I decided to share some sunflower pix we took this past week on a couple of our walks. Sunflowers are our state flower and always seem to make bipeds smile. Let's get going!

Here's a nice single-flower shot:

Sunflower in field

Check out the center of this flower:

Sunflower in field with Grasshopper

And if you look closely (or click to make it larger), you can see a grasshopper right under the main flower, above the new bud! Cool!

There are Sunflowers all over the place by our water tower:

Manhattan Sunflowers

Our city should use that in its advertising, don't you think?

Here's a shot taken low, looking up at some Sunnies:

Sunflowers against the sky

No... no one knocked Mom over. Ha roo roo roo!

Check out these next two:

Sunflower 2

Sunflower 1

Don't they make you smile? Give you some inner serenity?!? Me, too.

Here's a cool weed! I... err... I mean "wildflower":

Yellow weed/wildflower

Just thought I'd throw that in, in case anyone was getting tired of Sunflowers. Oh, you aren't? OK... check these babies out:

Sunflowers, clouds

Don't they look cool against the stormy sky? Here's my fav:

Sunflowers, storm rolling through

You can see the Flint Hills back there, a cool storm line and the Sunflowers!

I hope you liked my serene scenery! I got everything covered - you know, cool flowers, a bug, the Flint Hills, a storm line... yep. I think Ammy was proud of me for getting that one worked in here!

Amber through the Crape Myrtle
"Oh, yeah, Zimmie! Way to go! I love a good storm photo!
Hey... check out the Crape Myrtle!"

I'm not sure why, but Mom didn't seem keen on Ammy showing you around our garden, either. I think she needs to work a bit harder on that whole "finding serenity" thing. (Mom... not Ammy!)

Play bows,
Zim

WOO Zimmie, those are some furry pretty flowers! Our humans are touchy about us being in the garden too. It wouldn't have anything to do with dad's hibiscus we dug up, would it?

  6. You live in such a beautiful area! The state flower of Arizona is the Saguaro Cactus blossom. It is best viewed if you are twenty feet tall! I would love to be able to see that many sunflowers and pretty weeds... :)

  7. Hey there, Zimmie
Thanks so much for showing us all those pretty sunflowers! They sure are 'happy' flowers and definitely one of Mom's favourites.
I must tell you sumthing interesting: The 'Pride of India'...that last flower you showed us has special sentimental value in this household...it signifies the wedding anniversary of Mom and the Boss. Here in SA it flowers in February, but since it is 26yrs since Mom&the Boss got married, the climate has changed. The Pride of India now flowers in November here. Isn't this both scary and lovely!?
Our fauna & Flora world is indeed facinating
Thanks again, Zimmie, for a lovely Sunday post.

  12. Yay! Sunflowers.......

A dog walking pal of my J's told her the other day, his sunflowers had grown to 12feet high.

    But they had no flowers..............

    How bizarre was that information?

    So they were only Suns.

Marvin who takes things far too literally.

    And your photos were beautiful!!
