Treat Dispenser

Tail wags, pups and kit-cats! It's me, Stormy ! So many of you seemed to enjoy my quick Golf Class a bit ago, that I thought I'd post another quick tutorial. This one is how to use a Treat Dispenser. Ready?

We all know where the treats are kept, don't we? At Ao4 HQs, we have an area of the counters dedicated to our stuff - to include treats! It's right ... here:

Me... awaiting a treat

Go to that area and stare at the nearest biped. If it's in your repertoire, toss a little Sad Eyes Look or Harp Seal Look at him or her. Depending on how well your Treat Dispenser works, it may take some time. Stick with it, it's worth your while. I've got mine down to a mighty fine turn-around time: go to the cookie area, stare, and BINGO --

Mmm... yummy!

That's one of the cookies our
sweet friend Mochi sent us. They're little and low-calorie. I think... yes ... I think I'd like another.

Thanks, Mom!

Our treat dispenser works very well! Good luck with yours!

  1. What a fantastic treat dispenser....you have trained it well. ;) Great sad eye look too! The trick I play is knocking at the door to pretend I have to go out....I go out, make a circle around the yard, then come back and stand at the treat jar awaiting my prize. hehehe! It worked until they got wise to my game and started watching me...I must come up with a new one. muhahahaha!

  2. I love the little bit of cross-eyed-ness that is going on too! That would surely win a third in our house!

  4. oh so sorry I have been missing! There have been "issues".

Just wanted to say the treat dispenser is amazing, you really should patent it, a great discovery indeed!

I think the problem with little and low calorie treats may be that you have to have a lot of them to fill you up ;0D which kinda defeats the low calorie farrago.

pee ess I will comment on your other posts soon, I need to catch up with all your goings on since I have been Awol.

  5. Hi Stormy,

Thanks for the tutorial. We should practice on the skill asap. Frappie seems to be the best acquiring treats from mommy. He's usually the one who gives the best sad eyes puppy face while standing on his hind paws. Hmmm... lets see if we can beat him next time. Thankies!

  7. It takes time to train a treat dispenser to your own satisfaction.
Glad you have been successful - we have ours coming along.
We find the human males are easier to train than the females!

  8. My treat dispenser works as well as yours, Stormy. While my technique just a little different. My treat box is at the end of the utility room, so when I come in from outside, I just stand across that doorway, and stare at the treat box. My Mom can't get past me unless she gives me a really good shove, and mostly she doesn't. She asks me what I want and opens the box. I can take whatever one I want, two or three times a day. Three is pushing it.

    Stella

  9. Stormy, you have a wonderful "sad eye" look that would make anyone jump and get lots of treats for you!! You have "the look"!!! Holly has me trained...she knows exactly where the treats are on the counter, she stands there and just looks up at them, back at me, then up at the counter until I give in. You are great with the look though...I love it!!! Lots of love and more treats for you!! Debbie and Holly

  10. Woo - you must help in training our hu-dad. We do the sad eyes look all of the time and there are moments where he - brace yourself - ignores it and says we just ate. So what?

  13. Beth keeps treats in her pocket and I always know if I am a good boy I will get one. I will have to try those sad eyes sometime instead of being good....

  19. That baby harp seal look is a winner. I am going to practice right now because I think our treat dispenser is broken.

Maybe I can just make a mask out of your face for emergencies.

WOW! That's a GReat lesson. We will have to meld that into our own usual routine we use around here. Our treat are also keep in a seperate cabinet section but it is way up high for obvious reasons.
