Haik-Roo #1

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me, Zim.  As long-time readers of the Ao4 Digest may remember, our brother Dave used to write some awesome Haik-Woo -- you know, like the traditional Japanese haiku (three lines of non-rhyming verse, 17 total syllables: 5 in the first line, 7 in the second, and 5 in the last) only his last word was always "woo". You can read them in our Flickr set, if you'd like. Anyway ... I got an idea the other day and it went like this!

"Do you really think we can, Zimmie?"
"Oh, yeah, Cam!  This'll be great!  We'll work together!"

Cam said she was game.  After we got back from our walk, I explained my plan to her.

"I'll take the first line!"

I thought we could write our own version of a Haik-Woo!  How cool would that be?!?

"OK!  I'll do the second line."

Then we'd come up with the third line together!  Are you ready to give our first poem a read?  Here you go!  We'll call it Haik-Roo #1!

I think we're on to something!

Play bows,
Zim

PS: Inspired by Dave's Haik-Woo,  Cam and I have begun to write Haik-roo. Same rules as Haiku (a Japanese poetry in the form of three lines of non-rhyming verse, 17 total syllables: 5 in the first line, 7 in the second, and 5 in the last) but the last two syllables are "ha roo".   More coming soon!

  1. Great haik-roo! I think you make a great team. And while I don't mean any offense to you two, I think it shows what a poetry genius Dave was that it takes two to fill his paws.
