Let's get going down the trail!
"Let's check for messages first!" "Good idea!" |
I'm pretty sure that small brown sign with the pup walking his person on a leash is a reminder for dogs and means "check for messages here". Otherwise, why would they hang it so low?
Anyway, there was a little bridge along the trail:
Dad and Mags in the lead - then me - then Mom's got our six |
The path ran between the Big Blue River and some farm fields. Oh, the SMELLS! It was all so awesome!
Far too soon, we came to a parking lot:
"Come on! Mom said the dam is down this way." "No need to swear about it. Ha roo roo roo!" |
I decided to take the lead; Mom and I headed down the hill to the dam.
"Ooooh, a waterfall!" |
Mom thought we should pose in front of it, so us girls held on to Dad, while Mom took a shot:
Mags, Dad, and me at the dam in the Big Blue River |
We also walked out onto the rocky ford part of Rocky Ford Fishing Area - and Mom took a group photo there:
Me, Dad, and Mags - on the rocky ford |
It was beautiful! We had the place all to ourselves, which was awesome. There were some Gadwalls out beyond the ford, but they were out of range for Mom to get any good shots of them.
We headed back up to the parking area -
"Look! Another trailhead!" "And a pretty Kansas farm!" |
We thought it would be a great idea to hike that next leg of the trail!
"Look, Cam! Another sign to check for messages!" "Can we walk this part, too, Dad?" |
Mom said it would tack at least a couple more miles or more onto our hike. That sounded great to Maggie and me, but apparently that wasn't part of the plan for that day. Whatever. We headed back the way we came.
Me, taking the lead |
Mom wanted to get a shot of us girls together on the trail. She got into position and we did this:
Mags and me, stopping to strike a pose - Siberian style! |
After several tries, she and Dad thought we should just start walking again.
"It's far too interesting out here to stop for photos!" "We need to humor her eventually." |
We decided the best time to humor her would be at the end of our hike! That's when we posed for that Wordless Wednesday photo -- and for this one:
Me, Mags, and Dad |
What a great hike on a "new to us" trail! Thanks for coming with us, everyone!
Cammie!
Another great hike for you two and Mom and Dad - isn't this weather just incredible??? Hope it lasts, since we don't seem to be able to get any more snow.

very nice hike and scenery! We're pretty sure that sign graphic means to check and/or leave pee-mail. You pups were so good to hang on to your dad so he couldn't get away and maybe get into the water. Have a fun rest-of-the weekend!
ReplyDeleteoh...Wriggley wanted us to ask if you pups wanted a Lab brother...
