We were at the Kansas Wetlands Education Center! That's right - a birding trip to Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area and Quivira National Wildlife Refuge. It was fun, but quite toasty (thank Heaven for air-conditioning in the HR-V!). Because of that, I really enjoyed doing this when we stopped for our water/snack break at the Ed Center:
They were watering the Butterfly Garden and it was getting the sidewalk wet! It felt great!

Those American Avocets are pretty cool swiping their beaks through the water! I"m so glad that you got sprinkled on to cool off☺
ReplyDeleteCammie, we didn't feel the sprinkles but that Kansas breeze was nice! we liked the movie of the Avocets. not sure that we've ever seen them sifting through the water like that. thanks for this adventure teaser :)

ReplyDeleteWe bet that sprinkler felt good after the muggy weather around here. Mom said someone turned on the sprinkler from the skies last night and let it run all night long with lots of bangs and lights to accompany it. For some reason she didn't get much sleep:)
