This Morning's Walk

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  This morning, we had a great all-family walk!  We've only been on shorter ones lately, due to extreme cold and slippery conditions, so it was awesome!

Someone was doing a bit of shilly-shallying (do you say "shilly-shallying" or "dilly-dallying"?  I think "shilly-shallying" takes longer, but I'm not sure...) anyway, as I was saying, someone was taking her sweet time, so we went outside to wait for her.

"Take your time!"
"Shake a leg, Mom!  Daylight's burning!"
"Oooh, look at the pretty sunrise!"

We headed up the hill and took the Water Tower Path.

"I love it up here!"
"We can see forever!"

There are so many cool things to see and sniff up there!

"Ooh!  What did you find, Cam?"
"Coyote scent!"

It's definitely the coyote hang-out place at night - we see their ... umm ... calling card all over the place!

We walked over and checked out the Kansas Ocean; it was frozen solid.  Mom was hoping to see birdies there, but it was a no-go.  We decided to go back up the trail:

"The old re-trace thing!"
"I like going this way!"

Frankly, we were going to go a different way, but Cam didn't want to, so we didn't.  We usually get to decide - I mean, it is OUR walk, right?!?

Mom had the small camera today and did some cute little birdies along the trail like these:

At the risk of sounding like I'm ranking on someone, Dad must have spent 5 minutes pointing out that Goldfinch before Mom finally saw him.  I mean, yes, they are teeny-tiny, but he was RIGHT in front of her!  Sheesh!

Anyway, a great time had by all!

"That was a great walk - don't you think, Cam?"
"I do, Mags!"

Thanks for coming with us, everybody!

Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher

  1. What a nice walk! I think that dilly-dallying is wasting time, and shilly-shallying is wasting time while dancing around a bit.

  2. Cams and Mags someone sure does a great job of clearing off your trails and sidewalks....that doesn't happen here. We still have ice on our streets and sidewalks.
As for "shilly-shallying" or "dilly-dallying" we've been known to sashay while doing both. Maybe that is a Southern thing? MOL

  5. We love being out in the cold too, but we don't know how those little birdies survive in such bitter temps. We haven't had a walk in a while - something about bursitis in the hip whatever that is.

  8. Thank Cod your dad was there to show your mom the Goldfinch! We had two on our Birdie TV this afternoon! Somemommy got all excited because they hadn't been on in awhile and she likes them and the chickadees the best. We just like anything with feathers. By the way, we say dilly dallying which is the way mommy learned it back in Kansas in the dark ages.

  16. What a lovely walk-even if it is still a bit chilly. We had such a warm day yesterday(which means all our snow it turning to slush), but last night we had strong winds. Today a lot of the snow is gone. I need to get out and walk soon too. Have a great one!
