Now THIS Is A Treat!

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  So, one of the times Mom took me outside two days ago, I raised my snooter to the sky and told her it was going to snow the following day.  Was I right?  Take a look:

"Told you so, Mom!"

I think we know the answer to that one!

It started yesterday, and continued through the night.  We had to postpone this morning's walk due to darkness - something about not being able to see icy patches.  Whatever.  We did finally go once the sun came up!

"In the whole 'trick or treat' scheme of things, I'd say this is one HUGE treat, huh, Cam?"
"I'll say!  The trick will be getting Mom & Dad home without them falling!"

"Good point, Cam!  We'd best go easy on that downhill slide!"
"For sure.  We're almost at the top; we better slow down."
"Good puppies!!!"

Have you gotten any wonderful treats this Halloween?!?  Please stay safe tonight -- no candy (especially chocolate) and no bolting out of open doors!!!

Cam and Mags

Unbelievable!

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  So ... there's some big project going on downstairs.  I really have no idea what it is yet, but when I find out, I'll let you know.  But in preparing for this "big project", my dad grabbed a couple of boxes and was going to take them downstairs.

And what I mean is he was going to walk right past me with an armload of boxes!!!!  Un.  Believable.

"Is Maggie getting treats?"
"No, just a box, Cam."
"'Just' a box?!?  'Just' a box?!?!"

At least Mom asked him to stop and let me have one of the boxes for a while.

"Just" a box.  Unbelievable.

Serene Scenery Sunday

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  For Serene Scenery Sunday, Cam and I thought we'd share pix from a photo shoot in our backyard with you.  Mom wanted to get a "nice shot" of us under the Amur Maples; they are in all their Fall splendor right now!

Cam and I got on the wall under the trees and ...

"I haven't seen Tao in a while ..."
"He went home to China for a month - remember?  I sure miss him."

"Oh, yeah.  Hey ... Mom didn't say not to jump off the wall!"
"Can we, Mom?"
"NO JUMPING OFF THE RETAINING WALL!!!"

"I wasn't really going to ..."
"You're the one who brought it up, Cam!"
"Come on, girls!  One time!  For Serene Scenery Sunday!  I have cookies!"

"Oh.  Cookies!  How's this?"
"Yeah. How's this?"
"YAY!"

"OK.  My work here is done."
"Cam?  Cam?"

I'd like to point out for the record that I, Polargold's Margaret Thatcher, was being HIGHLY cooperative.  HIGHLY.  I have no idea what's gotten into me.

Quick Trip

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie.  Yesterday, Mom took me for a quick trip to see my vet.  And my vet nurse.  And a couple extremely smart, gifted, insightful vet students.  I had something called "titers" done a couple weeks ago, and I came up a quart low on oil - or one of my vaccines.  Something.  Anyway, Mom scheduled an appointment and off we went.

The good news is they have a TV in the waiting room.  The bad news?

"Excuse me.  Do you get BritBox here?"

Yeah.  They had Guy Fieri on.  I'm not interested in his shows at all.  I was hoping they could put a British mystery show on for me.  Before I knew it, though, one of the students came and got us.  

I got TONS of cuddles and massages, about 97 cookies, and one of those brilliant 4th year students said I was, "the most well-behaved Siberian" she's ever seen and the other agreed.  That's right!  ME!  They're going to go far in life; I just know it!  My vet also gave me cookies.  There may have been a shot involved; I really don't know.  I was also told I have "the softest fur ever" and am "so perfect".  And I got more cookies.

At the Discharge Desk, my student snuck me another cookie - I gave her a high five.  I thought she deserved it!

"Another successful trip in the bag!"

I had a great time, but was happy to get home to Cam.  And lunch.  For some odd reason, Mom didn't seem to give me as big of a lunch.  I have no idea why not!


I hope all of your vet visits are are great as mine was!

Auxiliary Quilt Room

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie.  Mom's been working on some hand-sewing things lately.  Usually, that means she works on them at the dining room table.  Here's an action shot of us helping; Mom had gotten up for a sec and took this shot of us in the dining room:

"I think so.  We're trying our best!"

Nothing Much

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  I haven't really been doing much lately - just the regular routine: breakfast & a walk pre-dawn, zoomies, CROG, lunch, time in the Studio, Pickles, more CROG, dinner, and TV time.  And some naps and snacks thrown in for good measure.

"Ho dee doh dee doh ... "

Oh.  And perhaps some time opening the Studio closet doors and doing some exploring ... but you didn't hear me say that.

Monday Morning Planning Session

Serene Scenery Sunday

Hello and greetings to all!  Cam and Mags here with Serene Scenery Sunday.  We've had some beautiful walks this week, so we thought we'd share photos from all of them with you today!

We saw some remarkable sunrises:

"Wow, this is worth the price of admission, huh, Cam?"
"It's beautiful!  I can't wait 'til we get to the top of the hill!"

The view from the top was wonderful!

We had a cold snap this week; for some reason, that meant we had the trail all to ourselves!  It was perfect!

One morning, we even saw the moon setting!

"I feel a howl coming on ..."

Busy Week!

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie.  It's been such a busy week!  Maggie and I plan to do a lot of this today:

Enjoying The View

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  Now that all the new screens and everything are in, we got to have a little Studio time yesterday afternoon!  Mom opened some of the blinds in the inner room of the Studio while Mags and I played with our Pickles and had a round of Crazed River Otter Games.  After Maggie and I wrapped things up, I thought I'd take a look; they put solar screens in there, so the sun wouldn't beat into the room so much.  Here I am, checking it out:

"So peaceful!  So nice!  So ... zzz ..."

I can enjoy the view without getting super hot now!  It's very ... relaxing, as you can see!

Finishing The Job

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  Remember the big job I told you about a couple days ago? Removing all the windows in Ao4 Headquarters, cleaning the frames, housing, and glass, replacing the screens, replacing the weather-stripping, and replacing some blinds?  We finally took that show up to the top floor and attacked the windows in the guest rooms.

Once Dad got one of the windows out, I pitched in.

"Now THIS is a view!  I can see the hills and fields out back, my favorite neighbor Tao's house, part of the front street ..."

For some reason, before Mom took the old screen out, she asked me to go guard the stairs.  I have no idea why, but hey.  If I'm called to do Guard Duty, then Guard Duty it is!

"Zzz ..."

Oh, trust me!  No one could get past me without me knowing!

We're glad to have this project wrapped up for now!  It's been an exhausting few days!

On The Job

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  For the past couple days, we've been working really hard at a project involving all the windows at Ao4 Headquarters.  We are removing the windows, cleaning the frames, housing, and glass, replacing the screens, replacing the weather-stripping, and in a few cases, replacing the blinds.

Cam and I have been extremely helpful, as you can imagine!  Fear not!  We are Working Breed pups! It's in our DNA to do these things!

Serene Scenery Sunday

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cam.  Before I get started, Maggie says a big, "THANK YOU!" to everyone who wished her a happy Gotcha Day yesterday.  What a wonderful day it was!

For Serene Scenery Sunday, I thought I'd take you along on our walk this morning, OK?  Bundle up; it's right around the freezing mark!  I know -- we LOVE it!

Mom and Dad let me choose the route and I decided we should go for a nice, long one!  We looped up behind the local fire house:

We walked past some hearty wildflowers like these:

I think there's a rule that you have to smile when you see sunflowers, isn't there? What a lovely flower!

We eventually walked past the Kansas Ocean:

"I wonder if my Heron friend is out there?!?"
"I don't see him, Maggie!"

Adopt-A-Maggie Day!!!

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  Guess what?!?  It's my Gotcha Day!  My Homecoming!  It's Adopt-A-Maggie Day!!!!  Let's take a quick look back at that day!

Here I am, greeting Cammie properly:

"Hello, little one!"
"Hello, Aunt CamCam!"

And here I am with our great brother Zim:

"Hey, kid."
"Hi, Zimmie!!!  I want to be just like you when I grow up!!!"

He taught me so much! I still love him to pieces!

Here is a shot of Zim and Cammie teaching me how to play Crazed River Otter Games (CROG):

"How does this go again?"
"Cam and I are crazed River Otters and you're a baby River Otter ..."
"... and we run and play!"

They both said I'm a natural! Cam and I have a round of CROG scheduled for later today. We had a great walk this morning (the windchill was 28!!!!) and we need to get some napping in prior to CROG.

Great Walk!

Hello, everyone! It's me, Cammie! This morning, I just couldn't WAIT to go on our walk! Some might guess that it's because we actually waited until it was light out for a change, but no! Do you know why?!?

"This is so awesome!"
"We've been waiting a long time for this, Maggie!!!"
"I can't feel my ears ..."

That's right - the cold front arrived!  We went from being in the "too hot for huskies" temps to a windchill of 31 at walk time!!!  I could walked and walked and walked!  It was wonderful!

Has the weather improved where you are, too?!?

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie.  The other afternoon, my mom had her hands full of all kinds of stuff as I escorted her down to the Studio.  I cautioned her to be careful:

"Thanks,  Cam.  I'll be careful on the stairs."
"That's not exactly what I meant ..."

And when we reached the bottom of the stairs, she understood.

"Ha ROO!"
"See?  There's a crazed River Otter on the loose down here!"

I'd hate for her to drop everything.  Especially since she was carrying treats to put in our Pickles!!!

Practice Makes Perfect

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  This morning, we all had a great walk together -- not only did we wait until it actually got somewhat light out, but it was chilly AND we ran into my bff Chelsea the Border Collie!  What fun!  I was just relaxing back at Ao4 Headquarters when I heard my mom ask, "Does anyone know why the bed is all messed up?!?"

"What exactly do you mean by 'all messed up', Mom?"
"Why don't you and I go take a look?"

She went into the bedroom and I could hear her starting to re-make the bed.  I was sure she could use some help, so ...

"Wait for me!!!"
"Mags!  Were you doing aircraft carrier landings?!?"

"That's entirely possible."

Since she brought up aircraft carrier landings, I figured she'd want me to get some "touch and goes" practice in.  I left the room, then zoomed back in:

"Coming in for a quick landing!!!"

"YEAH!  How was that?!?"
"I think your brakes are off, Maggie."

"'Brakes'?  Do you mean my tailhook?  We don't use those for 'touch and goes'."

I thought I should try again - maybe try a lighter landing and quicker take-off.

"I'm taking another run, Mom!  Look out!"
"Maggie, I'm trying to make the bed!!!"

Me, slamming on the brakes!  ... I mean, engaging the tailhook.

You know, I could get a lot more practice in if someone didn't keep messing with my runway!  No worries, though - I'll keep at it!
