Serene Scenery Sunday

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie.  Today, Ragnar and I thought we'd share pix from a couple of our recent walks with you - a compilation, if you will.  We've been enjoying some gorgeous scenery and thought you might enjoy seeing our little part of the Flint Hills of Kansas!

We're going to head down the Hudson Trail - the "off-road" part of it.

"Decision time!  Left or right?!?"
"Two paths diverged in the, uh... prairie ... "

With apologies to Robert Frost.  Oooh!  Great last name! Oh.  Right.  Moving right along ...

In this next shot, you can see The Top Of The World way out in the distance!  It's just to the left of those antenna towers!

"I LOVE this route!"
"Me, too, Raggi!!!"

One day, we got all the way to Washington Marlatt Park ...

"We're almost at The Top Of The World!"
"So close, but not quite there yet!"

... but didn't continue on to the Top Of The World.  That was OK, it was frosty and cold, and Ragnar and I were having a blast!

We always perk up when we get right about here:

"I can smell them!"
"Me, too!"

Then, just a little bit further up, we can see some friends of ours!

"There they are, Mags!"
"Hello, friends!"

 Here's a shot of them:

Horses!

Ragnar and I just love horses!  We don't always go on that outer loop, the one furthest west.  Oh, Mom loves seeing the horses almost as much as we do, but if you can tell in that shot where I'm saying "hello" to our friends ... check out the path up ahead.  Here's another look:

"What comes down, must go up ... no, that's not right!"
"I like that 'ride a painted pony' part!"

Any Blood, Sweat & Tears fans out there?  It's a pretty steep down and up.  Very fun!

Mom doesn't usually take pix of us going down and up those hills.  There are lots of roots and rocks sticking up and she's not quite as nimble as Raggi and I are.  Safety first and all that!  Once we got up the other hill, Mom turned around and shot this:

Isn't it gorgeous?  This whole trail makes us feel very serene - we hope it does the same for you!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Yours sincerely,

Margaret Thatcher
