Full "Pink" Moon

Woo, everypup and everycat!  It's me, Dave.  Did you catch our buddy Remington's blog yesterday?  He posted a reminder that last night would be the full moon and told us that this month's moon is called the Full Pink Moon (so named for the pink-colored wild ground phlox that's normally in bloom).  Zim and I promised we'd give a listen for Remington's howl coming down from the north, then head out to join him!

So there we were, having a nice, quiet evening, watching that Hercule Poirot guy solve a mystery ...

"Whodunnit, Mom?"

...when I sensed something was about to happen!

"Can you all feel that?!?  It's coming!"

And then it hit!

"Ahhhh-woooOOOOoooo!"

It was time!  We headed outside with Mom and here's what we saw!

That's the moon breaking through the neighbors' tree. It looked HUGE last night!

Definitely something to howl about!

We went out a bit later on, too, and took a clean shot of the moon:

Isn't it gorgeous?

I hope you were able to see the moon wherever you were last night.  And if so - did you give a good howl??!  Ahhh-woooooOOOOooooo!

Photo Finish Friday

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me, Zim!  Just a few pix to share with you today to finish off the week!

One of the very fun things we did this week was make my Stinky Goodness Jerky Treats!  (That's not the prescription food I eat these days, but that link is the reminder of how your bipeds can make some for you!)  Perhaps my favorite part of making the treats as far as I'm concerned is that there are a lot of scraps left over that aren't really worthy of going into the Stinky Goodness machine.  I wonder what could be done with those scraps?  I ... just ... wonder ...!  Hmm...

"Put the cutting board on the floor ... put the cutting board on the ..."

That's right.  I get to do clean-up duty!!!  (And that's my red Buff around my neck; my tongue is not hanging out!  Ha roo roo roo!)

Oh, and don't feel bad for Davy!  Check this out!

"Oh, PUP!"

Yep.  Mom made him some Pumpkin Oat Cookies.  I'm not allowed to have those but they sure smell mighty good.  Dad thinks so, too.  So does Mom.  (Note to Dave:  keep a tight lid on your cookie jar, bro!)

Anyway, you can tell from our pupil sizes just how much we're enjoying our treats!  Guess what else I enjoyed yesterday?  I got to go for a ride!

Keeping Busy

Woo, everypup and everycat!  It's me, Dave.  I'm still on the injured reserve list, but here's a secret for you:  Mom is starting to break the rules a bit and let me stretch my legs a little.  I've been going down to the corner a couple times a day now, which is great!  I'm not reeeeeeally supposed to yet, but we're being careful.  Just don't tell anyone.  Sure, Mom and Dad and Zim know.  And Big Mean Kitty.  And all the neighbors we run into.  And one of Zim's cat friends and those crazy Cocker Spaniels...  And ... umm ... it would appear that my vet knows after a certain Mom emailed an update to her yesterday ... but other than that, no one should know.  Keep it between us, OK?

In the meantime, I've been keeping busy around the house.  As Zim mentioned the other day, there were guys here ripping our kitchen apart.  Since I can't do stairs, I stayed here on the main level and supervised them.  It was great, but a bit on the loud side.  We also had a bunch of guys coming and going yesterday, doing all kinds of work.  I was pretty wiped out by the evening, as you can imagine.

"Let's snuggle in and watch some TV,  Mom!"

I thought my work was done for the day, but I saw that Mom still needed my help.  

"Whatcha got there, Mom?  Whirly Word?  Hmm... need some help?"

It looked like she was stuck on a Whirly Word word, so I offered my services.

"Let me take a look!"

I got that one for her right away, then helped out with a few more puzzles.  Here are a couple screen shots - you can see the words I helped with!

This next puzzle is from the next day, but you get the point:

Mom says I'm a great help and that she wouldn't be able to do these puzzles without me.

"No problem, Mom.  I'm a working breed; I'm always up for a challenge!"

Now to convince her I can do stairs so we can head down to the Studio...

More With Big Mean Kitty

Woo, everypup and everycat - it's me, Dave!  As you saw on Serene Scenery Sunday, I got to spend some time with an old friend of ours - Big Mean Kitty.  We've played with Big Mean since at least 2007 - and that's got to be some sort of a record for stuffie toys around here!  Anyway, it really was nice spending some time hanging out together the other day.

We were just being real cool, chilling out and enjoying some quality time together.

"Isn't this great, Big Mean?"
"Yeah... hey, look.  There's your mom.  She should throw me so you can chase after me."

I don't want to imply that he was trying to get me in trouble or anything ...

"I'm still not allowed to run, Big Mean."
"Oh, come on.  One little chase!  I know you're already walking to the corner with Zim!  Lemme up."

"Shh!  Don't get me in trouble!"
"I heard you chased Zim through the living room this morning..."

That's when I remembered Mom was standing right there.

"Shh!  Keep it down, Big Mean!!!"

Then I realized he wouldn't say anything to my mom.  Not really.

   

In fact, Big Mean doesn't have anything to say out loud any more. I ... err ... well, let's just say his squeaker doesn't squeak any more.  He's still tons of fun, though.

"Hi, Mom!  We're just having fun, talking guy talk and stuff."
"Yeah, Dave's mom.  We're being good!"

   

And I think he likes me, too.  And he's good at keeping my secrets!

Busy Monday Morning!

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me, Zim.  Sorry we're posting later than normal today.  There were some guys in our kitchen ripping it apart this morning.  It was pretty exciting!  And loud.  (Especially when the test sirens started going off out back...)  Anyway, they're gone for now so we have time to do a quick post.

Other than the kitchen craziness, it was a typical morning here.  Lots to do, plenty to keep me busy.  Oh. And a new challenge in the bedroom.

"Oh, Mom!  Come on.  A barricade of pillows and a quilt?"

She's joking, right?  Piece of cake!

Serene Scenery Sunday

Woo, everypup and everycat!  It's me, Dave, here with Serene Scenery Sunday.  There are a whole lot of things going on in our yard that make us feel serene, so I thought I'd share a bunch of it with you today.  Ready to take a look around?

Let's start with some sky shots! Here's the sunset from the 25th of March:

 

And here's the picture God painted for us on the 28th:

 

Doesn't that remind you of one of those old paintings? Only better! It was gorgeous! A couple nights later, we looked to the north and saw this:

 

Those kind of cloud formations don't mean good things! We were fine here, and hope all of our friends up in Nebraska were OK!!!

We've got a bunch of stuff blooming now! Want to take a look? (Oh... and I just got to play with Big Mean laying down; I didn't get to play Fetch. Not yet! We had fun anyway!)

Two varieties of our lilacs are blooming. Here are some shots of the "Skidmore" Lilacs:

 

Aren't they beautiful?!?  We wish you could smell them; they're incredible!  

Speaking of things that smell wonderful, the Juddi Viburnum are also in bloom:

They have an incredible scent! We have a bunch of Texas Quince all over the gardens - here's an up-close and personal look at one:

   

I like that they're from Texas - like me! Another of our favorites is also in bloom - the Eskimo Viburnum!

 

Mom likes the white, white blooms and the dark glossy-green leaves. Me and Zim just like the name! The other Lilac in bloom right now is the Old Fashioned Lilac! It's a deeper color than the "Skidmore" variety!

 

I really wish you could smell all of these - the fragrance would put you into a very serene place, trust me!  But then ... so does spending time playing with Big Mean Kitty!

Photo Fun-Finish Friday!

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me, Zim.  I have a PACK of pix to show you today, so I'll try to keep the chit-chat to a minimum.  Basically, with Dave out on injured reserve, it's been left up to me to keep things lively around here.  (I showed you some evidence of that last Friday, in fact!)

Anyway, so there we all were the other night - Mom and Dad were watching a movie, Dave was snoozing, and me?  I was looking for a bit more excitement!  I went up on the catwalk to get a view of the scene.

 

Look at poor Dave down there! He really needs something to cheer him up!

   

Yep. It's time to Zimstigate some fun around here!

   

 Watch this! This is going to be great; I know how to kick things up!

You know the "No Siberians Allowed on the Furniture Rule"? Let's start with that one!

"Ha roooooo! I'm on the ottoman! Ha rooooo!"

 
You have no idea how fun that was! Until ...

 "NoNoZimmieNO!"

 
Hmm.   Where have I heard those words before?  And what do they mean?  Probably not important.

"Hey, Dad! What's shakin'?"

Then I remembered - "NoNoZimmieNO!" is a cheer they do when I do something particularly fun!  And not only was Dad cheering me on, but he was clapping for me! That's when things took a turn for the better!

Since we had so much fun, I'm switching the pix into cartoon mode.

"Play bows, Dad!"
"Right back at you, Zim!"

I had to wonder if Dad knew what signal he was sending me with his body posture. I think Mom did; in fact, I think I heard her start praying under her breath. (Mom's nice like that.) I think you all know what came next.

ZOOM!!!

I swooshed into the dining room, then back into the living room!  Flew up onto the catwalk, back into the living room, and another lap around the dining room table! Then I flew back into the living room, around the dining room table again ...

"Must keep low to the ground ... and very still ..."

...and kept the party going like that for a good long while!  There were shouts and cheers of amazement and joy from Mom and Dad!

"My work here is done.  For now!"

It was tons of fun, trust me!
