Fresh And Clean!

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  Cam and I have beds scattered all over the house - mostly Wash 'N' Zip beds -- they're so comfy PLUS Mom can toss them in the washer and dryer to her heart's content.  She washed the one in the breakfast room just the other day!

I tested it out, fresh from the dryer!

"She even washed the padded insert we have for this one!"

"So warm ... so comfy ... so clean ... so ... zzz ..."

"Oh, wait!  There is one thing that will make this even better!"

"Mmm .... yeah, Maggie!  Nice and warm and comfy!"
"This is perfection right here, folks!"

Nothing beats nice, clean bedding fresh out of the dryer!  Do you like your bed fluffy and warm, too?

TV Time: Agility Trials!

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  As you saw Wednesday, Cam and I were really in to watching the Westminster Dog Show.  Not only did we record the "show" part, but we also caught the agility trials!  I. Was. Captivated!

"Oh, YEAH!  Now we're talking!"

At some points, I got so excited, I had to go over to the TV and do some close-up cheering!

"A-frame!  A-frame!  Go, pupper, go!"

I especially liked the Border Collies. I wonder if my BFF Chelsea knows any of them. I'll have to ask her.

"Tunnel!  Tunnel!  Tunnel!"

They even had a camera in the tunnel, so we could see the pups fly through it!

"WOWZERS!!!"

Here's a short video of me watching a quick run.  If you look closely, you can see how carefully I'm following along.  I even "followed" the pup through the weave poles!

Happy Valentine's Day

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  This year, Maggie suggested that I take the reins on composing a Valentine's poem.  I gave it a lot of thought, and this is what I came up with.  I hope you like it.

"Ready, Cam.  Hit it!"
"Here goes.
Our tongues are red ..."

"Nah ... check it out, Cam.  They're more like PINK."
"Work with me, Maggie!  Let me start over.
Our tongues are red,
Maggie's left eye is blue ..."

"I love that part!"
"This would be so much easier without the interruptions!"

"OK, sorry.  Go for it, Cam."
"Our tongues are red,
Maggie's left eye is blue.
There is snow in our forecast,
Happy Valentine's Day to you!"

"OOOOh, yeah!  Strong finish!  Great job, Cam-a-roo!"
"Thank you.  Thank you very much."

Tired?

Hello, everyone!  The other day, we all got to go on a walk together!  Walking has been sort of "iffy" lately, due to ice and extreme cold, so Maggie and I were thrilled to be able to get out and GO!  Truthfully, I think Mom and Dad were, too.

"This is so awesome, Cam!"
"It's the BEST, Maggie!"
Mom: "Ohmygoodness, look at Cammie's feet and mud flaps!"
Dad: "I think they should both get showers when we get home."

Sure.  Mom, who edits these posts for us, claims it was Dad's idea.  I'm not so sure that's how it happened.

When we got home, Mom did a quick wipe of our feet, then BOTH of us were marched into the shower to get our undercarriages and legs showered off.  I didn't mind, really; we were both very good girls.

Mom thought we'd be tired after our walk and shower.  Maggie and I thought differently.  Let's take a look:

Breaking News

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  I have some breaking news for you -

"I can barely say it."

Are you ready?  My Eggplant is empty.  Empty!

"Someone needs to do something about this!!"

I hope the news didn't shock you as much as it did me.  I do, however, hope it shocked a certain Keeper Of The Treats around here.  This situation needs to be rectified!!!

Frenzy!

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  Before anyone gets too excited by the title of this post, "Frenzy" is the type of quilt our mom just finished up.  Sorry.  No Crazed River Otter Games involved.  At this point in time.  Ahem.

Anyway, Mom got all excited yesterday afternoon because she just finished sewing the binding onto a quilt she started back in February of 2009.  Cam showed it to you when Mom had finished quilting and now it's all done!  Mom carefully arranged it on the ottoman by the living room window.  Take a look:

"Hi.  What are you doing?"

Oh.  Apparently she was trying to take some photos of the quilt.  Whatever.  She had said something to herself about "cozy and inviting", so naturally I thought she was talking about me.

She smoothed it out on the floor to get an over-all shot - and that's when I knew she really DID want my help!

"Cam!  Get in here!  I need your help with this!"

How does that saying go?  "If you quilt it, they will come"?  Something like that.

"Oh, yeah, Mom.  Cozy and inviting."
"This is for us, right?"
"Well, umm ..."

It sort of is for us -- indirectly.  In the center of every block, there is a rectangle of fabric from one of Dad's old uniforms, and all the other fabrics are either military-themed or patriotic.  It's very special!

We ❤ this quilt!

It will be a great "snuggle" quilt for all of us!

Ice Station Zebra

Hello, everyone.  It's me, Cammie!  Like many of you, we got hit with more ice.  We can go on our walks when it's cold out (within reason), but not when there is ice involved.  Night before last, we were hit with ice.  Actually, it was a thunder-sleet event, which was pretty interesting.  Anyway, since we can't go on our walks, Mom has been trying to keep Maggie and me gainfully employed in the house.  Yesterday, we had "under supervision only" toy time!

I had my Eggplant and Maggie had her Zogo-bone:

"I love this Eggplant!  How can people not like veggies?!?"
"I like this bone!"

"It's not really called a 'Zogo bone', but that's what we call it."
"I call it a fun toy, that's what I call it!  Especially when Mom puts a treat in it!"

"Anything else in my Eggplant?!?"
"Give it a good, hard chew, Cam-a-roo!"

"How do you stay busy when you have to play indoor games?"

Is it an icy mess where you live?  We're supposed to warm up to 30 over the weekend, then more snow Monday.  Or so they say.  Stay safe, everyone!

Password, Please!

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie.  Yesterday afternoon, Cam and I went downstairs to help our mom in her Studio.  We got right to work:

Does it look like I have Cammie's whole head in my mouth? I don't. Not really.  Her whole snout and face, yes, but not her whole head.

Anyway, we played like that for a while, then Cam decided she wanted to go into the Library.  What?!?  Cam never goes into the Library -- not unless it's Movie Night or we have a tornado or something!  (That's not just the Library, it's also our storm shelter.)  I zipped past her and ...

"What's the secret password?"
"Umm ..."

Can you see that OK? Let's zoom in and lighten it up a bit.

"Password, please!"
"Is it Rumplestiltskin?  Abracadabra?  Shazam?"

I can't believe she didn't know the password!  I gave her one last try:

"Keep trying!  No one gets in without the secret password!"
"Is it 1234?  Password?  Woo?!?  I give up!  What is the secret password?"

"How should I know?  It's a secret!"
"Oh, Mags!  Zzz ..."

I mean ... that makes sense, right?

Mom said she got oodles done while we had our stand off.  What can we say?  We're Working Breed pups and we're here to help!

Beans

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  Every morning in our breakfast, Cammie and I get to have a bean. They're special beans called "EicosaCaps" - and we just crunch right through them.  Usually.  They're yummy.  I think.  I don't really pay attention when I eat.  Here - let me show you what they look like:

"Yep.  That's my bean.  Right here."

See ... usually I crunch right through them, but sometimes, I like to take my bean into the living room to eat it or ...

"Hey,  Cam.  Do you want my bean?"
"No, I'm full.  Thanks, though."

Mom always watches us closely when we eat, so we don't switch or give each other our bowls or something.  I thought sharing was good?

Anyway, my bean is saved until lunchtime, when apparently it will make a reappearance in my lunch.  Does that make it a refried bean?

Great Walk!

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  Yesterday, our temp officially hit 71℉.  This morning when it was time for our walk, I'm happy to report it was back to being a balmy windchill of 14℉.  Much better!

To celebrate, we decided to take our favorite part of the Hudson Trail.  It was awesome - the wind was blowing leaves all around, squirrels were dancing all over the place, and there were new smells everywhere!  Just when I didn't think it could get any better ...

"Great Dane in the morning!  CAM!  Do you see him?!!?"
"I can't believe it!"

We got all excited and started pulling a bit ... and then ...

"MURPHY!!!"
"Hi, girls!"
"Hello, Murphy!!!"

It was our friend Murphy!  We haven't seen him for quite a while, but we all instantly remembered each other like old friends!

"Ha roo!"
"It sure is good to see you two!"
"We've missed you, Murphy!"

Now THAT was a great walk!

Porch-Posing Sunday

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  It's another messy, wet day in Kansas - with temps in the 60s!  We had an awesome, long walk this morning, then Cam got another shower, then Mom and Dad did a few things, then Mom said we should head out front and do some porch posing!

Since this involves treats, Cam and I were all for it.

"I'm not looking!"
"Yeah.  Me, neither!"
"C'mon, girls!  I have the crunchy Zuke's!"

"I'm still a bit upset about the whole 'shower' thing."
"Yeah, but you are nice and clean now!  You smell nice, too."
"Please?!?"

And then, this thing called "the sun" finally came out!  WOW!  It was crazy!  Cam and I needed our sunglasses!

"How's this?"
"How cool do we look?"
"Totally cool!  A little slouchy there, Mags, but very cool."

Well, she had a point.  But I didn't want my shades to slip!

"How's this, Mom?  Cookie-worthy?"
"Totally."

It was a lot of fun.  Cam and I did zoomies when we got in the house, then slipped right into a round of Crazed River Otter Games.  It's been an awesome morning!

Messy Day!

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  Our temps have warmed WAY up now -- it's in the upper 40s!  AND it's misting out there.  That means one really nice thing -- MUD!

We went on a great all-family walk this morning ...

"What a great day, huh, Cam?"
"It's LOVELY!  Look at all the mud!" 

... and I thoroughly enjoyed splashing in puddles, stepping in mud, and the feel of the light rain on my fur. Maggie? She had lots of fun, too, but for some reason, she avoids mud and jumps over puddles. I just don't understand that!

When we got home, Mom spent a lot of time toweling Maggie off. She doesn't usually go first - I do!  That was a bit surprising.  When Mom was finally finished with her, she did a quick wipe of my feet, then hooked me back up to a leash! What?!? That was really strange. And then ... I knew.

"Sigh."

I now have the distinct honor of being the first Siberian to actually use the new shower.  I'm not sure I'm real happy about that ... but I will say it's nice and roomy, and I have pretty good traction!

Getting Lots Done!

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  Our mom has been getting a lot done in her Studio lately.  Maggie has made her blog a couple of times recently, but trust me -- Maggie doesn't get to the "helpful" stage until I put some work in!  Take yesterday, for example ...

"I think someone needs to work off a bit of excess energy!"
"I dunno, Cam.  You don't seem that crazy to me!  Ha roo roo roo!"

"I didn't mean me, you crazed River Otter, you!"
"So ... you must mean Mom, then?"

"I mean you!  BOOM!"
"UMPH!"

We had a good, long round of CROG (Crazed River Otter Games), then ...

"I think my work here is done!"
"Thanks, Cammie!  Where did Mags go?"

I found her on the other side of Mom's sewing table.

"Zzz ..."
"I'll just lay here with her for a couple minutes, then I'm heading upstairs."

Mom said I was a huge help and that she got LOTS done!  All I know is Maggie and I had an awful lot of fun!
