With Just One Look

Hello, everyone.  It's me, Cammie.  Sometimes, we can just give our mom one look and she catches on that we'd really like to go on an adventure.  Take the other day, for instance, all Zimmie and I had to do was look at Mom like this:

"Don't worry, Mom.  I'll find a way to entertain me and my kid sister."

... and we were off on a nice nature walk! Zim, Dave, and all who came before us have trained my mom really, really well!  All it took was one look!

As you know, we've been helping Mom photograph birdies and wildflowers lately. Zim and I thought we'd share some more with you, if that's OK.

When we left on our walk, we saw this birdie right in our neighborhood:

I spotted some wildflowers growing in the side of a rocky hillside.  Zim showed you Showy Evening Primrose yesterday; these are Missouri Evening Primrose.

I'm from Missouri, so I'm more familiar with them.  They are so intensely yellow!  Almost like neon!

Speaking of yellow, we also saw our favorite yellow-bellied birdie - the Western Meadowlark.

"Wait.  I forgot what I was going to do..."

Mom said she could relate really well to the look he had in that picture.   Here he is again:

"Oh!  Oh, yeah.  Ahem.  ♫  Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam♩..."

Silly birdie!

Zimmie spotted lots more stuff out in the open fields, like these wildflowers:

Zimmie's good at finding everything!

We also saw this woodpecker guy WAY up high in a cedar tree:

Isn't he wonderful?

We also saw this wildflower growing all over the place:

Mom also saw some up at that Top of the World place when she went there without me and without Zim.  !!!  We might let her post what she saw on our blog - or we might not.  We can't believe she went up there without us!!!

Speaking of the top of the world, they cut a new road into our neighborhood and it is a REALLY steep hill!  When you get to the top, you DO feel like you're on the top of the world!  This is from a while ago, but I wanted to share it with you:

Me.  Cammie.

Do I look happy there?  How 'bout another shot?

Me, smiling!

Anyway, I hope that's not too many photos.  Let's head home.

Oooooh.  And my mom put this on FaceBook, but we thought all of you would be very interested in seeing it.  I was out alone with Mom the other evening.  We were coming back in through the garage like always, when Mom got in a big hurry!  She swooped me inside, did that "squee" thing, and grabbed Dad and the camera.  They went back outside ... and right there!  Right by the door to the garage.  Well.  Check him out:

That's Dad's hand, so you can tell how TINY that baby bun is. Can you believe that?!? And how could I have missed him!? And why was Mom glad I did miss him?

Anyway, Dad herded him into the garden and we haven't seen him since, so hopefully his bunny mama hopped over to him and escorted him home.

Thanks for coming on our adventure with us!

  4. You should leave the bunny alone so it can grow up all big and strong. THEN you can eat it! It's not even a mouthful right now.

  5. your mom is well educated in the "time to walk the sibs and keep them from getting bored" look. ;)

  15. Nothing beats a fun adventure!

However, I can't believe you missed the baby bunny!! Unfortunately, Titus and been overly vigilant in our yard this spring, much to mom's horror. Esther really needs to teach her kids to stay out of our yard.
