Serene Scenery Sunday

Ha roo, pups and kit-cats! It's me, Zim, here with Serene Scenery Sunday. Right before New Years, we had a guy come do some preventative maintenance stuff in the house. Dad thought it would be safest if we waited out on the deck with Mom. I guess he was worried about her running out the door or something. I'm not sure. All I know is we got to keep her company out there, which was really cool! We hadn't been on the deck since before the Christmas blizzard. Here's a collage of all of us:

CollageDeckInWinter

It was over 20℉ (-6℃) and sunny, so things were starting to melt. Here's a cool icicle picture:

And remember the cool drift that we linked to a few days ago? The one in our backyard that looked like this:

Well, "Mount Dairy Queen", as Mom started calling it, was melting, too. On Deck Day, it looked like this:

Still pretty cool, even though it's shrinking way down! But wait! This is Serene Scenery Sunday; I'm supposed to stay positive. Remember Ammy's post from yesterday? Yeah, where she said we were going to get more snow? This should come as no surprise -

Hey Dave! Ammy was right! How 'bout a round of "Il neige sur Liège"?
Ha roo roo roo!

- it's snowing. It started last night and is still coming down. Way to go, Ammy!

Have a serene, snowy Sunday!
Play bows,
Zim

  1. That's a good idea of your parents to do that preventive maintenance so you can all stay safe & cozy at home. I like your Dairy Queen snow. The sun sure feels nice today..but it's too cold here to melt anything. We're getting more snow next week - maybe you will too. Keep thinking positive!!

  2. No new snow for us . . .we got a load of it for Christmas! Next week its supposed to warm up to 5 below zero F. Wooo, won't that be nice! But for right now its staying cold, 15 below F daytime and 25 below at night.

I can make fast work of my trips outside in this stuff.

    Kisses,
    Stella

  3. Your MOM sat on the deck with you all and it was 20 degrees? Your dad sure must have been terrified she'd run away if he locked her out there with you guys -- who LIKE the cold. Why didn't he just put her on a leash while the workers were there? Brrrrr.

  4. Wonderful piccies Zim, we love the collage!

You have more snow coming?...that is fun, ours is all gone now but we do have really horrible frost out there tonight. Actually it doesn't bother us of course but the humans don't like it much...BOL

  5. Very nice photos! I like the snow drift, how very neat to have caught something like that! It is warming up down here in Arizona - I went riding this morning without a jacket! :)

  6. Oh Zim...I am laughing so hard that I have tears running down my face! Just the thought that your dad put your mom on the deck because he was afraid she would run out the door cracked me up!! I bet it was cold out there! Hollydog is asleep so I'm having to write for her. It's cold here and windy. Very windy. More snow? I hope we don't get anymore ice here but I know you guys are loving the snow!! Lots of love!!! Debbie and sleepy Holly

  12. Cool stuff! I'm glad you guys didn't let mom run out the door when the maintenance guy came. That would have been very bad - I can't imagine moms have good recalls! :P

  13. Love that photo of the icicle against the sky! I only wish it were about 85 degrees with that beautiful blue sky. Mom says that is too hot but not for me!

PS: Ummm...yes, my dad was schmoozing with some other doggies. I've had a talk with him about that but he has a mind of his own!

  16. It was really nice of you all to keep your mom from running away while the maintenance guy was there. We're sure she loved being in the balmy weather with you all!

Your Mount Dairy Queen looks like the DQ cones our mommy made on her first and last day of working at DQ in Topeka. She couldn't make the curly Q on top which is obviously a requirement for working there.

  20. Well, of course, Ammy was right. She always is.

And funny how we are invited to hang out in the dog room when our hu-dad has a repair person here. We would so like to help, but he says we help best by being outside. How does that work?

  21. I bark to you Zim, it is only right we keep those humans under control, wayward behaviour such as running off the property, is not to be tolerated. Your Dad is only right to keep her fenced in......

oh now I have a tune running through my head for your Mama to sing while she is confined to the house......

"oh give me land, lots of land under starry skies above,
    Don't fence me in.
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,
    Don't fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze,
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees,
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
    Don't fence me in."

My J is still laughting at your post, it really made her laugh.

I have no idea why she should be laughing at a post but there you go! Humans eh?

Can't live with them, Can't live without them.
