Here's how the kitchen looked the morning the guys got started with the big stuff:
Zim and I had worked really hard supervising Mom while she got everything out of the cabinets, off the counters, and carted upstairs to the guest rooms. It was exhausting for us, as you can imagine.
Everything needed to be out of the desk area, too.
Dad took the iMac and all of that computery stuff downstairs.
You can see in the photo above where the bar-height part of the counter used to be!
A lot of you yesterday asked how Zim and I coped with all the noises and stuff. This very short video is the best answer for you:
Yeah. Loud noises really don't bother us much at all. (If that doesn't play, please click here.) Oh - did you see that we were on leashes? We had to either be behind a closed door or on lead because of this:
Open door to the outside. According to Mom and Dad, a Siberian owner's worst nightmare. We'll leave it right there!
That big hole in the pic above is where the sink used to be. Here's the new one:
Given when it went in, Mom dubbed it the "Sinko de Mayo". (Blame her for that one, not me. Woo.)
That's the new faucet there - it has a pull-out sprayer built in - and the button on the left is for the garbage disposal. The sink is made from something called silgranit ... and LOOK! That's one of the new concrete countertops!!! Let's step back and take a look at the whole kitchen!
The backsplash is a mix of glass and marble. It's white, blues, greys ... it ties everything together!
The light in the pic above makes it look greener than it is - but that's part of the beauty of it -- the way the light interacts with it all. Our preexisting floor tiles are like that, too, so it all works great as a team.
Here's the stove area (please note the under-cabinet lighting; that was another of the big changes):
And here it is again, after Mom moved everything back in:
You'll be happy to know the first thing Mom prepared in the new kitchen was a batch of Zim's Stinky Goodness Jerky Treats and the first thing back on the counters was actually over here by the microwave:
That's right - my stash of cookies! (Zim's have to be stored in the magic cold box.)
See how much bluer the tiles look in that light? Let's step back...
Mom mostly uses that part of the counter to prepare my and Zimmie's meals, so that's a very important area to us!
Just a bit further to the left is the desk area:
That's where we blog from, so it's great to have that part back up and running! Woo!
I hope you enjoyed seeing our kitchen re-do. Mom will eventually have more pix and chit-chatty stuff about it all up on her blog; we'll let you know when she gets that up! Thanks for letting us share with you!
Luv,
Dave
We've been sitting on pins and needles waiting for the big reveal.
ReplyDeleteAnd boy, it is a beauty! Thanks for taking us on the tour. Hu-mom said we need to do that to our kitchen!
Drools and licks,
Minnie and Mack
What a great redo! I love, love, love the backsplash.
ReplyDeleteWow Zim.........great job you did on the new kitchen tour. My Mom just let out a big gasp when she saw the glass tiles. It was a different kind of gasp than when one of us steps on her toes. Hope your whole family enjoys the new kitchen.
ReplyDeleteBryn

I can't believe all that noise did not bother you two!
Congratulations!
Kisses and hugs

That's a great re-do. I like the back splash. You guys should have a big pawtry to break it in just right.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

Woo woo! It all looks so good. Congrats to you two on a job well done. I know it's really hard work making sure the people get all of their work completed.
ReplyDeleteNow, about that open door...what's up with humans freaking out about those types of things? Sometimes a pup just wants to take a romp around the neighborhood without the humans. *sigh*
Nora
I love how it turned out. What a fantastic face lift.
ReplyDeleteCindy
wow - that is a great job. and we are glad the treats made is safely back on the counter. :)
ReplyDeleteThank dog your treats are back! Ha roo! The new kitchen looks beautiful! You two did a great job snoopervising because it turned out fabulous! Sinko de Mayo - BOL! Open doors around here means Mommy goes nuts trying to track down my kitty sisfurs. I don't run out and so far they don't either but she's still a worry wart. Anyway, great job boys! Hope you rest up from all that work!

ReplyDeleteThe silvers and more
pawsome, Dave! everything came together beautifully! we are impressed at how you and Zim handled the noise. we would've been hiding in the farthest corner of our house. and it's only appropriate that a batch of Zim's treats breaks in the new counter :) enjoy!
ReplyDeletePip, Smidgen, Minnie, Hollie
My mum is drooling' over the keyboard at the sink, tap, lighting and backsplash tiles!! My peeps are thinking of building a house in the next 3-5 years or so - so mum has to be content with not doin' any changes to our house, coz it will be pointless when we move. Blogging is going to be a little more enjoyable now in that remodelled spot! Good to see the treat bins are handy.
ReplyDeleteTail Wuggles, Rubie
Wow!! Worth the wait!!
ReplyDeleteThe kitchen looks beautiful and cosy and comfy and warm! So much to say! Mom's all wide eyed and excited, as if its her kitchen! :)
Thanks for the fantastic tour!
Cheers,
Maxx
Your kitchen looks great! We don't even have walls so very jealous. The worktops look fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWe will come back and see it all again on our big computer. It I'd not easy on phone!
Yes, we came back for the full size version - told you how jealous we are!
ReplyDeleteLove the way the light reflects on the glass, sometimes blue and sometimes green.
Very cool sink too.
Of course we ourselves are very scared of all the renovation noise and much prefer peace and quiet!
You guys weren't scared at all but we reckon that is because you are much braver than us.........!
Looks right at home with the final placing of your treats - that is the important part!
xx
Fantastic! It looks amazing! The counters, the back splash, everything. Well done. And a special spot for your cookies. Congratulations.
