Getting Ready

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  Like many of you, we are in the path of what is expected to be a very nasty ice storm.  Mom and Dad are getting as prepared as they can - making sure we have enough food and water, batteries for lights, charged electronic devices, clean laundry, a plan on how to clear a path to the yard - that sort of thing.  AND ... making sure Maggie and I get plenty of walking time in now!

With the windchill in the single digits, we headed out happily this morning!

"Some of us seem happier than others, Cam!"
"Just ignore Mom; she'll get the feeling back in her face and hands eventually!"

We walked up to the Hudson Trail, then turned to take the part that goes past our friend Murphy's house.

"I don't think he's here, Cam."
"He must be inside, watching cartoons and snuggling with his little biped.  Maybe eating Cheerios, too."

I must say, as much as I love our walks, the part about eating Cheerios sounded good.

Anyway ... we walked down my favorite hill to go up:

"Wheeeeee!"
"I love this hill!"

We had the wind at our backs, so Mom liked that part best.

Mom had the camera with her today, in case we saw any birdies, but most of them seemed to be inside, watching cartoons, too.  Or whatever it is birdies do when it's super cold out.  We headed up the water tower trail, then when we were almost home, Mom did see one birdie that didn't fly off right away:

Not very exciting, but at least that's ONE birdie!

For those of you who are also expecting the ice storm - please be prepared and please stay safe!

Cammie!

  2. We have no idea what it is like to be in an icestorm, we don't get that sort of thing living in Southern Spain even though we are in the Sierra Nevada mountains. We would love to experience it, being Siberians and Leonbergers an all, but hey we have to look to you guys for your experiences instead. We hope you all stay safe. My hu'mum says she is sure it can't be a nice thing for anyone to experience. So we hope you all stay safe, we hope it passes quickly and you can all get out to see the birdies again. Wooos from your pals, Khumbu, Kyra, Rita and Arko (the monster)

  3. I hope its not too bad. Mom grew up slightly north and west of Portland Oregon and they'd get some pretty nasty ice storms. NOT fun. Be warm and safe!

  5. Well, so far so good on this end of the state. Not a drop has fallen yet. Sounds like the bad part will be overnight tomorrow with a chance of a few showers tonight. Just enough to make the roads treacherous. Why can't it just be snow????

  6. Well, at least two people in your household can handle snow and ice. You will just have to give pointers to your people, that's all.

  8. We're glad you had some nice walking weather today! We hope the snow and ice isn't as bad as they say and especially hope you don't lose power! Mommy remembers being iced in for five days with no power when she lived in Topeka so we know Mother Nature can cause some doozy of storms in Kansas! Our Grandpa from Kansas left Cozumel for Galveston on a cruise today so we're hoping everything is clear for when he drives back home Sunday and Monday. Of course our paws are crossed for the Chiefs game Sunday night too!

  9. We have our paws crossed that the ice storm doesn't materialize. Our pawrents still remember the big one that hit here and left the area without power for about a week.
