Honest Scrap

Hi everypuppy and everycat!  It's me - Amber!  We received the Honest Scrap tag/award from our friend Angel and from one of our verrrrrry favorite kit-cats, Angus Mhor.  Stormy said I should give the whole thing a go.  I hope I do OK!

The "rules" for this award and meme are as follows:
"When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to said person so everyone knows he or she is real. Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have 7 friends. Show the 7 random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Weblog.” Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon. List at least ten honest things about yourself. Then, pass it on! "
I don't really like talking about myself all that much, but since Stormy gave me the assignment, I'll do my best!  Here goes.

1.  I had my big, annual Senior Care appointment Tuesday.  At first, I thought Mom and I were going on another fun adventure.  What a cruel hoax!

Uh-oh.

2.  I weigh 57 pounds.  My vet said my body mass is "perfect" (I love Dr. Dixon!), maybe a bit on the skinny side.  (For those of you out there who may be checking the AKC weight standard for the Siberian Husky right now, I'm taller than breed standard, so their weight parameters don't  apply.)  Here I am, on the scale.

Perfect!

4.  While at the vet's, I tried to figure out what this big guy in the entry area was looking at; I couldn't figure it out.

What's over there?

He wouldn't tell me.  He was the strong, silent type!

5.  All of my tests came back with results that made Mom and Dad extremely happy!

6.  Speaking of Mom and Dad... Dave is happiest if he's touching Mom or Dad.  Here he is, with Dad's feet and Zim.

7.  Oh.  Stormy said that's more about Dave and less about me.  Sorry.  OK... I like to yell at Dave while Mom fills our dinner bowls.  It's the "Stay Away From Stormy" song, and it's very important that I sing it.  Unfortunately, we have no pictures or videos of me doing that.

8.  I love Happy Heart cookies.  If Mom wants a good picture of me, she just needs to grab one of those.  They have powers beyond all other cookies.

Mmm.... 3 Cheese!

That picture was taken just this morning.  We received a lovely gift box of Happy Hearts AND a Valentine from none other than Mr. Angus Mhor himself yesterday!  Angus!  You are SUCH a nice cat!  Thank rooooo from all of us!!!

9.  I don't like to wear bandanas or anything other than my collar.  The perfect illustration of this can be found at this link.

10.  I don't like being brushed!  (Please see this link.)

Well, OK. That's my list.  It's all true - especially the part about being brushed.  And about Happy Hearts.  And the test results.  And... well, OK, all of it's true. Except maybe #4.  I was actually looking for the way out.  :)

Have you been tagged yet?  If not, please play along with it and consider yourselves tagged!

Love,
Ammy

Family Photos

Woo, everypup and everycat.  Dave here today.  As Stormy told you, since all the Ao4 plus our bipeds got to walk to the still calling it the Kansas Ocean the other day, Mom thought it would be a good idea to get some group shots.  I told Storm Mom wanted all four of us Sibes to line up...

Mom wants a group photo, Storm.
Does she?  Good luck with that.

Here are the girls, lining up.

Well, OK, it's actually Ammy ... with Stormy's snooter back there.  Somesibe pulled the leash and made the camera move.  Sorry, Mom.

All four of us are in this picture!

Hey, Dave, look over there!
Where, Storm?
Hey, what's this down here?
Hee hee hee!

...but I guess it wasn't what Mom had in mind.

Dad offered to hold all of our leashes and give a go at having us all walk in formation.  We've done that before, so Mom and Dad thought it would work this time.

Here we are!

Stormy is in there somewhere ... just follow the red leash.

Let's try again!

OK, wait.  You boys line up over there...
Hee hee hee!  I can't even watch this... it's too funny!

We are starting to get lined up here...

... and almost had it, until Zim found something he just couldn't resist checking out in the grass.

Hey, you Sibes!  I found something cool here!

We tried.  Really.  But, hey.  Sometimes a Sibe's got to do what a Sibe's got to do.  Woo!

Luv,
Dave

Everysibe To The Kansas Ocean!

Tail wags, pups and kit-cats, it's me - Stormy!  We've had some remarkably warm weather lately (for February in Kansas) and Saturday was one such day!  It must have hit 70; the bipeds were outside in short-sleeved shirts and shorts!  Dad hit the links in the early afternoon, then when he got home, he suggested that we all six walk out to the Kansas Ocean!  ALL of us!  It was so exciting!  I hadn't been in that area for a long time - since before the ocean became ...sort of an ocean!

Here I am, admiring it:

It's as gorgeous as you pups said it was!

It's a cool ocean, isn't it Storm?

Dave and I checked it out together; the redheads spotted something new and Dad took them over to check that out.

Hey, Dad, what's that sign?
Yeah, Daddy, what does that say?

That's when the we got the news.

"Vanesta Lake"?  Not only does the sign confirm my suspicions that it's not really the Kansas Ocean - but they named it without any input from Zim.  I mean - Zim is the one who discovered it, you'd think he could name it!  Well, it will always be the Kansas Ocean to us!

We took some great group shots; we'll share those with you tomorrow!

Storms

Serene Scenery Sunday

I thought I'd share some of the photos Mom has taken over the past couple of weeks of the scenery we enjoyed on our adventures.

The first two are from Dave's trip to the Scenic Overlook.

From JAN 09

The next two photos are from the trip the redheads took to CiCo Park.

Hey, There's Dad!

Ha roo, pups and cool-cats!  It's me, Zim!  Ammy and I took Mom on a real cool adventure this past week and I'm here to tell you all about it!

At first, we walked through all the normal neighborhood stuff, then we headed up toward the Giant's castle!  Mom had her earbuds stuck into her iPhone, so I'm not sure what she was listening to, but she kept saying things like "I didn't know that!" and "Cool!"  so I think she had a Typical Mac User podcast going.

Anyway, there are a bunch of stores over by the Giant's castle now.  I was hoping to see a Starbuck's or something exciting like that but there are only stores right now and no restaurants or cool coffee places.  Mom said we could window shop...

Here's a good one!

...but we didn't buy any windows at all.  Go figure.

Come on, Am, let's go.

We hiked up around the castle area to a cool pathway that leads to one of the golf courses here.  Dad was playing there and I thought maybe we could see him.  We went over this one hill (remember, we live in the Flint Hills and it's hilly here!) and Mom wanted to stop to admire the view.  We let her turn around and snap this photo:

If you look closely in the center of the sky area, you can see the moon!

Then she started talking back to her iPhone even more, saying stuff like, "Where are you exactly?" and stuff - so I think the phone part must have rung and she was talking to someone.  Then she said, "Look toward your left, up on the hill!" and she started waving.  Ammy and I looked over and saw this:

See that silver SUV coming toward us?  That's DAD!  Hey, Dad!  Ha roo, how cool!

We kept walking and saw this:

Wowzers!

Doesn't that place look cool, in a scary kind of way?  Mom didn't seem too keen on going through there, but Ammy and I sure wanted to explore it!  We're Siberians!  We fear nothing!  Except maybe getting brushed... but that's another matter altogether!

For some reason, Mom made us go through it really, really fast and we weren't able to get into anything!  Can you believe that!?  Rats!  (Sorry, not you, Roger!)  Mom said something about it being dark in there and "who knows what you two will get into" and other stuff ... I wasn't  really paying attention, as there were so many cool SMELLS!  Besides, like I told my SiberMal pals, if Mom had downloaded that flashlight App to her iPhone, she would have been able to see in there just fine.  It's not my fault she doesn't have built-in NVGs like we do.

As to what was on the other side...

...more sidewalk!

We eventually wound our way back down the hill, then went back up the hill toward the house.  Storm, Dave and Dad met us a few blocks from home - how did they know how to find us!?!?  It was cool.  Sorry Mom didn't get a picture of that; she should have!

It was a pretty cool adventure.  Window shopping (even though we came home empty-pawed), seeing Dad, walking under the road, meeting up with Dad and Storm & Dave - what a full day!  It was all we could do to have a round of zoomies then crash for a while.  Thanks for letting me tell you about it; I wish you all could have been there!

Play bows,
Zim

Photo Finish Friday

Tail wags, all! It's me, Stormy! The votes are in and it looks as though "Photo Finish Friday" is the winner! Many thanks to all who voted!

In keeping with the theme, here are two panoramas Mom put together (with my help, of course) of our beautiful sunsets. They were both taken off the back deck of Ao4 HQs on the second of February. Our pals over at Dughallmor Beagles participate in Sky Watch Friday, so we thought they especially would appreciate these shots!

And...

You can click each for a larger view!

Speaking of the Dughallmor Beagles, they most kindly gave us this award:

Many thanks; we just love that! And we love you guys!

Before I close for the day ... back on the post the boys put up on Tuesday, Khyra asked, "And would we find Mom's feet just out of the frame?"

Puh-lease.  What do you think?

Guess who was holding her feety-feet down?  Ha roo roo roo!

Tail wags,
Storms (Dave's not the only snuggle-bunny around here!)

My Special Adventure!

Hi everypuppy and everykitty!  It's me again - Amber!  Today I wanted to tell you a little bit about the new ocean I discovered!  It all started the afternoon of my birthday.  Mom said, "Come on, Ammy!" and we went out and got in the car!  I had a bit of trepidation at first because I thought maybe we were going to see our vets, but we headed a different way and Mom massaged my ears and said, "We're going to go have some fun, Am!"  Oh, it was so exciting!

We did an even shorter drive than to go to the vets, then Mom parked and we got out.  It was a park I'd never been to before!  (Here's another link here.)  There were tons and tons of new smells ... and as I showed you yesterday, an ocean!  Here it is again:

It's over there!

Well, OK, based on Stormy's qualifier that if we can see across it, it's not really an ocean, it might not exactly be one... but it's still exciting.  Mom and I walked all the way around it and I snoofed sooooo many things!

I checked for sharks and other fishies over on this side of the ocean.

Ha roo?

I didn't see any, but then I saw a sign over along the other shoreline that I wanted to go check out.

Ooh, let's go over there!

You all know what I'm checking for; there's no need to mention it here.

I didn't see any of the ducks or geese the sign mentioned, but I most certainly checked for signs they had been there!  :)

We also saw this thing called a "dock".  It looked a bit like the Trippy-Trap Bridge to me, but I wanted to check it out anyway.

Let's try it out!

We went out on the "dock" and it went up and it went down and it went back and it went forth and the boards said, "Creeeeeeek" (Marvin... I know what you're thinking - it's an OCEAN, not a CREEK!) ...

...and Mom said, "Oh!  Let's go back up onto the shore!"  She seemed in a hurry.  I have no idea why.  Maybe she doesn't like Trippy-Trap Bridge type things, either!

It was a great adventure and a very fun thing to do on my birthday!  Thanks for coming along with me!

Love,
Ammy

Woo-less Wednesday

Love,
Ammy

PS:  See?  You didn't think I'd be able to do a wordless post, did you?  I know I had a hard time when I tried it two weeks ago, but I worked really, really hard on it this time!  I picked just ONE picture of me from the very special birthday outing my mom took me on and we discovered yet another ocean here and it was just really exciting but I thought I could pick just ONE photo and show it to you and it would be a very nice wordless post and then tomorrow I could show you more of my adventure by the new ocean!

PPS:  How come I'm getting that "look" from Stormy?  Oh.... oh, I get it.  "PS"es count?  Ooops.  :)

Let's Go to the Park!

Tail wags, all.  It's me - Storm.  Before I turn today's post over to Ammy, I just want to wish my little sister a VERY happy birthday today on behalf of me and the boys!  That's right, our sweet, little redhead was born 10 years ago today!  On Groundhog Day!  Quite apropos for our resident meteorologist, wouldn't you say?  To read more about Groundhog Day and Ammy, please see this link.  It explains a lot.  OK - over to Ams; Storm out.

Hi everypuppy and everykitty!  It's me, Ammy!  Thank roo very much to Stormy and my brothers for the birthday wishes!  Both Storm and Davy have already tested being 10 and said it's really fun, so I'm looking forward to this!

It was a funny weather day on Friday; the temps tried to hover around 50, but we had 20-30 mile an hour very cold winds, so the temperatures kept going up and down.  It was very nice.  Zim and I decided we should take a walk to CiCo Park.  It's only about a mile from Ao4 HQs to CiCo and we go there a lot.  This time we got to walk WAY around it and through it and everything - we walked for about an hour and a half and had a lot of fun!

Here we are in one of the pavillions they use for all kinds of things.  I like to look for pigeons in there; sadly, there were none that day.

Zim and me, looking for pigeons

Zimmie hopped up on some benches and did poses in his very cool Steelers bandana.

Zim strikes a pose

We wove around a bit on some cool paths...

Zim

...then got to the far side of the park.  We headed down the main path ... and there it was!

The Trippy-Trap Bridge

When I was a little girl, I was a little bit afraid of crossing the Trippy-Trap Bridge.  I heard there were big, gruff billy goats that lived under there.  Or hung out there.  Or maybe something about a troll.  I don't know... but I didn't like the Trippy-Trap Bridge.  My daddy taught me there's nothing to be afraid of at all, so now I go over it with no fear!

Let's go, Zim!

Shouldn't we check the AO for billy goats or trolls or something?

Nope!  We're good.  I don't believe in that stuff anymore!

I assured him there was no need, we continued on across, then eventually headed home.  It was a great trip to the park!

You were real brave back at the Trippy-Trap Bridge, Am!
Thanks, Zimmie!

I hope you enjoyed coming with us to the park!

Love,
Ammy

PS:  For those who may not have heard yet, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow... so he's calling for six more weeks of Winter.

Super Bowl Sunday!

Today is Super Bowl Sunday here in the States!  For readers who might not be familiar with it, the Super Bowl is the big championship game for the National Football League.  This year, the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football Conference are taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers from the American Football Conference.  We like both the Cardinals and the Steelers... but given that Mom was born in Pittsburgh and that we got some really cool Pittsburgh Steeler fabric from our friends Rubi and Denali .... well.... we present you with the following photos!

First up, the girls!

Stormy

Ammy (doing her "Malamute ears")

And the boys!

Zim

Dave

Are YOU ready for some football?

The Ao4!

It only took our Mom about 20 minutes and 16 cookies to get this picture!  And she kept muttering something about being thankful she had a digital camera.  Ha roo roo roo!

Tomorrow, the redheads will post about a special adventure they went on.  Guess who insisted on wearing his very cool Steelers' bandana the whole time?

The Z-man

Yeah.  He's cool!

Here's to a great game!
The Ao4
