In the Garden - Good News, Bad News, Other News

Ha roo, pups and kit-cats, it's me, Zim! Two sets of good news/bad news from the garden here at Ao4 HQs this week!

The good news is the upside-down tomato plants are getting mighty big.

Me inspecting the upside-down tomatoes

The bad news is that there is only one tomato.

Is that all there is?

The other good news is that everyone's favorite mosquito-eating machine, Bart the Bat, is back!

Good eeeeevening!

Bart lives under our upper deck, keeps an eye on things on the lower deck for us, and eats tons of mosquitoes. You can read about him here, and that links to previous posts. OH, and Mom even named a bag after him!

Anyway... the bad news is... Bart's been eyeing the lone tomato...

The lone tomato

...and I have a sneaking suspicion he's going to get to it before Mom and Dad!

In other news, here's something fun for all of you to try! Not that I have or anything... but it sounds fun! If your Mom is - hypothetically, you know - standing up on her tip-toes on a chair, trying to take a picture of a ... oh, I don't know... of a bat, let's say... creep up behind her and stick your cold, cold nose on her ankle. See if you get the squeals I got. I mean would get, you know... if I would try something like that. Not that I did or anything.

Ha roo roo roo.

Play bows,
Zim

  2. Hi Zim woo wascally pup, you! Ha-roooo! Love your Bart bat - I guess he definitely IS good and potentially bad news. Maybe a new crop of little yellow seed flowers will show up on your tomato plant again? How long is Bart's invite?

  5. Zim,

We know you would never do anything like your hypothosis. We can't really do anything like that either since anyone standing on a chair is a little high off of the ground for us. We certainly hope your mom and dad get the tomato before Bart but we think time is one his side ... like nighttime.

ZIM! LOL! You are such a Zimstigator! And the Bart photo is really cool! Finally, Dad said that you can soon pick the green tomato if you fear Bart may get it. You can put it in a paper bag to help make it ripen.

  14. Innocent! You would never do anything like that! I am sure that Bat is just waiting for the tomato to ripen a bit more before eating it. Hopefully you will have more tomatoes, Moms are all done now, too hot until september for any more.

  16. It's also fun to stick your nose in their rears and make them lose their balance. Not that I would know about these things.

  18. Zimstigator! Not that you would do anything like that, but what a great idea you had. We like the cold nose snooter late at night when the human is asleep. That is effective too.

    Welcome back Bart!

P.S. - Maybe all of the tomatoes are in the roots since it is upside down???

  19. Zim, you are so funny! That sounds like a funny thing to do, hypothetically of course!

  21. I know you would never sneak up on your mom when she's on her tippy toes on a chair! Keep an eye on that tomato - Let me tell you that is 1 tomato more than my mom would ever see!

  22. Good suggestion, Zim if we were ever, you know, to want to stick our cold cold noses on mom...not that we'd ever want to, you know.

Our mom is weird - she really likes Bart the Bat. She said she wishes she had a Bart the Bat too. Huh? we thought she loved us best!

  23. One??? Only ONE tomato? Well, hopefuly Bart won't get to it.

I'm sure you didn't mean for your mom to squeal. But, it IS funny!
Khady likes to tickle mom's toes with her cold nose too!

  25. Mmmm we think there are plans afoot! You are very cool, Zim!
One tomato seems strange - perhaps others will follow. Tomoato plants take a lot of fussing - feeding, watering, keeping them at just the right temperature etc
We hope there are more tomatoes to come cos one isn't going to go very far!!!

  27. We've already had a bat in our house this year. Mom found him trapped in the upstairs bathroom trash basket! He was easy to catch! We'll pack his little suitcase and send him to your house so Bart has a friend, okay?

    Love ya lots,
    Maggie and Mitch

  29. You guys are funny scaring mom with your wet noses...
Dad has some hanging tomatoes too and he has gotten one tomato too. Mom and Dad made a BLT out of it.. Now he has one more.. Lots of flowers appear but no tomatoes.. Dad thinks we don't have enough bees in our yard... Hope Bart doesn't get your lone tomato..

  30. Zim, you're such a crack-up! Cold nose! What great timing! I do hope your mom didn't fall down, tho', that wouldn't have been good. So Bart comes and goes, eh? I guess he comes down south for the colder weather?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ah, Zim, I don't even need a bat to make my Mom squeal! All I have to do is come up to her when she is thinking about something and do the cold nose on her leg or arm. I can get her evfurry time and its SOOOO MUCH FUN!

    Kisses,
    Stella

  32. That would be fun for my Dad cuz he is so totally afraid of those heights. LOL Nice to see Bart, we hate skeeters.

  33. Zim, you are SO funny! Momster is asking whether she can borrow Bart for a month or two... The mosquitoes are eating her up alive. Sorry to hear you only got one tomato... maybe trimming some of the leaves will encourage the plant to make more tomatoes?

    woodrow sweetie mj

and congrats on the hypothetical screams - we would never scare our mommy like that ;)
