Guess what is still in bloom? Our day lilies! The leaves are all brown, but check out the flowers:
Pretty cool, huh? I like that splash of color in all the different tans.
The Rose of Sharon right above the lilies isn't blooming any more, but check out what it looks like!
Even during the off-season, you can find beauty! Speaking of beauty .... everyone loves roses! Look at ours:
It still offers intense color!
In Ammy's post the other day, you could also see a lot of our cool ornamental grasses - those always make me feel serene! You know what else makes me feel good?
Mom and I set off on a ride just the other day. We pulled over at one point to do a little exploring.
Oh, YEAH!
Mom and I set off on a ride just the other day. We pulled over at one point to do a little exploring.
A Chinook helicopter, practicing a supply drop! Isn't that cool? Seeing our troops train and hearing them out on the ranges makes all of us feel serene; the more they train, the safer they are in battle. We call the sounds of them firing out on the ranges the sounds of freedom!!!
I thought I'd do a little training myself. Here I am, working on my camouflage:
I'm back there behind that big stalk of grass. Can you see me?
Ammy and I went on a great walk together on Veterans Day. Here we are, arriving back at Ao4 Headquarters:
The sight of home is always a good one!
Speaking of Ammy, she wanted me to toss in a couple sunset pix!
These are both from the 8th.

ReplyDeleteHey Zim, thanks for all of the beautiful pictures. You sure have alot of colorful flowers left. All of ours are gone for now. Being able to hear the troops practicing must be great and I loved the helicopter. Every so often we have fighter jets fly over here and it's so cool to see them training...like you said, the sound of freedom! Love that last picture of you especially and the other one where you are blending into the scenery...can't hardly see you. Great camouflage!

Hi Zim!
ReplyDeleteMama really liked the flower photos. The it's amazing as how the leaves are brown yet the colors of the flowers are so alive.
Thanks for taking us with you to your weekend walk. Mommy also loves the sunset photos. We don't see great sunset views in our home so we really love our posts.

ReplyDeleteFort Riley? My dad was stationed there when I was a kid, one of my sisters was born at Fort Riley! The pictures are great! I have three reds and one white sibe!
ReplyDeleteHey Zim,
ReplyDeleteOur Navy aircraft carrier jet attack pilot dad says that helicopters like the CH-47D Chinook, and helos in general, don't really fly - the beat the air into submission. Dad says it's uncomfortable to fly in an "airplane" where the wings (blades) are always going faster than the fuselage. Dad was in a composite squadron at Barber's Point, just down the road from Schofield Barracks and Wheeler Airfield, where he got helo time in H-34s and SH-3Gs. He even had to go over to MCAS Kaneohe in a UH-1 Huey which he said was a bit uncomfortable going through the Pali because the helo didn't have any doors on it. Dad says that there used to be an old TV show called The Life at Riley. We couldn't find Zimmie in the photo, he must have aced camo class. We don't have very many blossoms in the yard. The ferns and coleus from the front porch have moved inside so the Jenny can kill the slowly by eating them rather than having them freeze to death which seems way more humane. We are impressed at how nice your front yard looks, around here it might "someday."

Oh Zim, you look so soft and cuddly in these pictures...can I come snuggle with you? :)
