Photo Finish Friday - City Park!

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me, Zim.  Twice this week, I got to go to a park I hardly ever get to go to - it's called "City Park" (someone needs a creativity boost around here...) and it's right in the downtown part of our city.  My good friend Nora B. Webster recommended I take a trip to check it out - so Nora, this post and my thanks for a great idea go out to you!

So ... the last time I went to City Park, this Giant tried to intimidate me.  You can check it out here; I kid you not - he was huge.  Anyway, I didn't see him at all on the first trip I made this week.  The first thing I got to check out was this cool log cabin:

Wow, was that cool.  And - oh!  Wait!

IMG_1466 Zim
"SQUIRREL!"

Sorry.  We don't have squirrels in our immediate neighborhood, so it's pretty exciting when I get to see one.  You can't see it in the picture, but trust me - there's one over there!

Enough with the chit-chat; I have a ton of pix to show you.

I didn't catch the story of the old log cabin, but it's flanked by tennis courts and some water park, so whoever the settlers were who lived there, they really knew how to have fun!

"That's the water park over there; we'll come back to that later."

We walked through the park a bit.  There were a lot of people out enjoying a gorgeous Fall day.  I spotted some female college students; they were checking me out, so I stopped and did this:

"Hey, babes!"

It's my best Rin Tin Zim pose.  I'm sure they were impressed.

The second time we went to the park during the week, guess who I spotted through the trees?

IMG_1496 Zim
"The Giant!"

That's right - the Giant!  Mr. Johnny Kaw himself.  He spotted me eventually, and everywhere I went ...

IMG_1499 Zim
"Are you lookin' at me?"

... he was watching me.  It's like his eyes never left me!  (I let that lady and her little biped rub my ears, by the way.  They were very nice.)  So the Giant's stare started to ...  oh!  Wait!

IMG_1493 Zim
"SQUIRREL!"
"SQUIRREL!"

Who knew Johnny Kaw was a Squirrel Watcher, too?   I lost my train of thought ...

Anyway, Mom and I went down this cool stone path:

"Are you coming with us, Johnny Kaw?"

The Giant stayed where he was.  I went down to see the other little biped and his dad.  They were trying to fly an airplane, which was very cool.

We walked the perimeter of the Park a bit:

"SQUIRREL!"

Over there, across the street ...

IMG_1502 Zim
"Right over there!"

... is our City Hall.  I don't know much about that place, except that you can't fight it.

IMG_1504 Zim
"Ha roo roo r-SQUIRREL!"

We got to where we were on the other side of where that log cabin is - take a look at the water park:

IMG_1511 Zim
"Wowzers!  Those prairie settler peeps sure knew how to build a water slide!"

Can you see the big sliding board in there?  If it wasn't for that fence, I could have had a field day on that baby!

Those are some of the highlights from our trip to City Park.  I did find one more kind of startling thing.  Check this out:

" 'No running'!?!  In the par---SQUIRREL!"

Seems kind of crazy to me.

I hope you enjoyed this week's edition of Photo Finish Friday and my trip to City Park!  Thanks for coming with me - and thanks again, Nora, for a GREAT idea!

Play bows,
Zim

  1. Hey Rin Tin Zim.... I don't know if this is such a good place or not. What With the GIANT and 87.000 Evil SQUIRRELS and all.
BUTT if you got to see lots of peeps and get tons of PETS and EAR RUBS maybe it wouldn't be TOO bad.
I am glad that Nora told you about it.

  2. That does look like a cool park. And the settlers of that area were amazing. I though life as a pioneer was tough and hard, but now I just don't know. Maybe, I'm thinking, maybe that water park area is the giants bathroom where he takes his long soaking baths. To bad you did not see any squirrels, that would have made it just perfect.

  3. we had no idea the pioneers knew about water slides....awesome!

mom laughed about the college girls comment - her brother got a puppy when he was in college and after he started dating his now wife, the other guys in the house would argue about who got to walk Bandit so they could pick up girls.

  5. Hi Zim, I loved seeing your city park-what a great place. The giant-wow oh wow! You are very brave and I think you were also protecting your mom. I know you had a great time, except for chasing the squirrels-which would have made it even better.
Have a great warm weekend; it is getting cold here today.

  6. That was a cool park i was really scared for you tho zim cos i couldn't figure out if the giant was a friend or a foe...our squirrels in our yard are beyond nuts here....the other day dad saw one in the grandmonsters play car and in their wagon just setting maybe it is the squirrels who are gonna take over the world instead of the cats...who knew!!

  7. Oh my goodness...thank you so much for the post! Mrs. Master says that stone path and the water park are new.

I bet those cute college girls and the little kiddos gave the BEST scratches.

That's really rude about the no running. What is wrong with people?

  10. Wow what a great adventure you had. I am excited you saw so many squirrels and put them in their place. That Giant kind of freaks me out, so I would stay clear of him, but the rest looks like a blast.

  12. oh, we can just imagine the squirrels all over the place, there, Zim! even tho we don't have any in our neighborhood either, we just know how they are. hmmm...pawsonally, we don't get the appeal of a water park...we suppose the settlers knew what they were doing...still, the slides look like fun :) thanks for taking us on another fun adventure, Zim! have a great weekend!

  18. I have never seen a real live squirrel. Probably because we don't have them in Australia.
