Evening Walk

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie.  Nothing much is going on here; it's been dreadfully hot (close to or over 100 degrees) so we've been limited to our nice, long morning walk, then a very short one after dinner.  Zimmie and I thought we'd share just a few miscellaneous shots from last night's walk with you. Let's go!

I wasn't even at the corner yet and I was panting! Same goes for Zim:

What can we say?  It was hot.

If we stop to chat or for Zim to do sniffies or whatever, I automatically do this:

It's sort of "my thing". Mom finds it ridiculously cute.

Like I said, it was mighty toasty out there. Let's head home, get some water, and get cool!

Serene Scenery Sunday

Hello, everyone, it's me, Cammie!  Before I get to today's post, I'd like to thank you for all the well wishes for my most wonderful big brother Zim!  He had his procedure Friday and is doing very well!

Now... how about some nice, serene scenery?

"Right in there, Mom?"

Across from me in that photo above - that might look like an ugly, empty lot to you. But my mom said it holds all kinds of treasures. Take a look!

A lone sunflower, growing amid the weeds! Isn't it beautiful?!

Over in another area of the vacant lot, there were a few more. Look at this beauty:

Growing right out of the rocks!

And here is one who paired up with some Dotted Gayfeather:

It's like "nature's bouquet", right there in the rocks and sticks.

And closer to home... in fact, right at home, we had this guy join us for morning deck time:

A Long Two Weeks

Ha roo, pups and kit-cats!  It's me, Zim.  I was at the Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University this week - you know, our vet school!  I had just been in for my big Senior Care appointment last month and everything checked out A-OK, so I was surprised to go back so soon! I thought maybe I had been called in so they could consult me about something.

The first trip there went fine.  They did a quick admiration of how fit I am and took some blood.  (They didn't give it back, by the way.)  I got Stinky Goodness Treats after that then they said they'd see me "tomorrow" at 0730. Hmm. Again the next day?  Ohh... yeah.  That's when I understood what was going on.

When I got home, Cam was there to greet me!

"I missed you while you were gone, Zimmie!"
"Right back at you, kid!"

We made up for the hour I was gone with a little bit of this:

Then I gave Cam the news:

"Cam.  I'm going to be at the dentist all day tomorrow!"
"Oh, Zimmie, no!  I won't have ANY fun without you here!"

Then Mom gave ME the other news:

"What do you mean 'no playing crazed river otter games for 2 weeks'?!?"

Seriously. Never once did I hear the vet who did my dental say I wasn't allowed to act like a crazed river otter for two weeks! I would have remembered her saying those words. Really.

"Oh, my!  It's going to be a LOOOOOONG two weeks!"

Mom is hoping our heat breaks so we can go on big adventures in the afternoons that will "wear us out". Doesn't she know extra walks just fuel us crazed river otters?!?!

Photo Finish Friday

Hello, everyone.  It's me, Cammie, here with Photo Finish Friday.  I thought I'd share some pictures of me working really hard on my new toy this week!  Are you ready?

Here I am, just getting started:

Chomp, chomp, chomp with the back teeth

It's long and easy to hold onto and has all kinds of cool pieces poking out of it! Let's step back a bit and admire it!

It's a stick, but I don't think it's like the sticks my very wonderful friend Goose rescues; it's a different kind of stick.  It's called a Pet Stix and it's made by the Kong people.

Let's get back to work.

Nibbling with my front teeth

I like to use my front teeth as well as my molars.  You get a fuller chewing experience that way!

Some of you may be wondering how well this toy will hold up.  Before I let you know, understand that on my resumé "Good Chewer" is mentioned.  I only get to have toys like this one while Mom is watching me.  In fact, by the end of my second play-session with the Kong Pet Stix... umm...

The Stix sprang a leak!

It's just a tiny hole.  For now.  I plan to do something about that this afternoon!

I do think this is a GREAT toy, even for good chewers, but your peeps need to supervise!

Back To Work!

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie.  I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend.  It was back to work today for most folks - to include me and Zim.  That's right, we had our early morning walk, played like crazed river otters, then had breakfast.  After breakfast, we went into the bedroom to relax a bit.

"Oh, hi, Mom.  Nothing going on in here!"
"5... 4... 3... 2..."

"... 1!"
BOOM!

We all have different ways of relaxing, don't we?

Mom thought it would be a good idea if we took advantage of another cool morning and took a second walk.  What a nice idea!

Oh! Dad was with us, too! That's how Mom got the picture of Zimmie.

"Hey, Zim!?!  Race you back to the house!?!"

Just Another Work Day!

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  For many bipeds here in the US, today is a holiday - Labor Day.  Oddly enough, they celebrate Labor Day by not working.  ... Think about that one.

Anyway, for us Working Breed pups, it's just another day at the office.  Even better, actually, here at Ao4 Headquarters, as our heat wave has broken!  Cam and I were up before the crack of dawn, went on a good 2-miler, played like crazed river otters, had breakfast, then played like crazed river otters some more!  Mom thought maybe taking us on an extra walk would help "settle us down" --- which sounded great to me and Cam!  (The walk part, not necessarily the settling down part!)

While out on our walk...

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking, Zimmie?"
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking, Cam-a-roo?"

Yep.  There's a good chance we played like crazed river otters during the walk!  Hey!  We're a Working Breed!  Always busy!  And sometimes a walk just isn't enough.

Yeah, yeah - we "walked nice" for a while, too:

When we got back home, Mom asked us to pose for a photo or two.  She mentioned something about facing the camera, holding still, smiling ... I'm not sure; I wasn't paying attention.

"Ha roo?  Fluffy Black?  Are you out here?!?"
"Can we go inside now, please?"

Cam just wanted to go in, so she chose to sit and face the door.  Me?  I was seeing if my friend Fluffy Black Cat was out.

Anyway, Happy Labor Day, everybody!  And to our fellow Working Breed pups, who are always on the job, don't work too hard!

Serene Scenery Sunday

Hello, everyone.  It's me, Cam.  OK, so maybe I forgot I was supposed to post yesterday, but hey!  I'm still new to this whole blogging thing!  More or less.

Anyway, Mom went out to Tuttle Too Hot For Siberians Creek State Park yesterday and took about one point five million photos.  None of them are of me or Zimmie, but she did get some very serene shots, so I thought I'd share them with you.  Are you ready?

Mostly, Mom and our friend Beth were tracking a beautiful Great Blue Heron.  They walked very, very, very slowly for a long time, going out onto the long, narrow, rocky shoal where he was fishing. Can you see him out at the end?

That's when they were really far out there already.  Oh, and that's Seamus and Moss, the very handsome Border Collies in the foreground! Hi, boys!!!

On Mom's way out of the park, she stopped and shot some wildflowers. One of her favorites was the Stenosiphon:
