Busy Times for the Guide Dog for the Color Blind

Woo, everypup and everycat! It's me, Dave - Guide Dog for the Color Blind. As many of you know, as GDFTCB, it's up to me to check out new fabric Mom brings into the Studio. It's important for me to see them early in the creative process, so I can make a mental note about what wonderful colors we've added to our palette. We haven't had much time to sew lately, but we have done a little work in the Fabric Acquisition area. I thought I'd share just a little of that with you so you can see how hard I work around here!

First up is a little fun pack of fabrics Mom and I won from her quilt group! (Everyone who finished this one project had their name put in a hat and Mom's name was drawn!!!) I was so excited when it arrived in the mail! Here's a little collage of me checking it out:

It's patriotic fabric in a cool draw-string bag made from another patriotic fabric. It has one of my favorite sayings on it - "God Bless America"! I just love it - and so does Mom! We ♥ patriotic fabric!!!

Next, we got in a pretty substantial order from our friends at the
Fat Quarter Shop! They had an insane offer of 40% off the 1895 Batiks. Mom and I have a weakness for batiks. Have a look at these babies:

Simply irresistible!

Here's a closer look:

Mom said that the bigger stack is called "
Shaved Ice" and the other one is "Ocean".

DSCN6231 Dave
"Did you say 'Shaved Ice'?!?"

Zim heard Mom say "ocean" and had to check it out:

DSCN6234 Zim
"Hey! It's like the colors of the Kansas Ocean... isn't it, Dave?"

Well, not reeeeeeeeally... but it made Mom think about other oceans she's been to. I think she should make a quilt for her and Zimmie to share with some of those fabrics. That would be pretty cool. Speaking of cool... this "Shaved Ice" pack?

DSCN6233 Dave
"This one's MINE!"

OH, yeah! I can see something for ME out of this! Although ... I think we should do something for Ammy, too - she's REALLY into ice! ... And Stormy would look really cool lounging on a blue quilt ... and come to think of it, Zim epitomizes cool... so ... maybe we should all share the "Shaved Ice" pack!

I wonder if we could combine "Shaved Ice" with the "Ocean" ... or would that cause some freezing issues? Then Mom throws other stuff into the mix (click here) ... and asks what I think. Woo. This Guide Dog for the Color Blind stuff is hard work!!! I think I need some shaved ice and a trip to the Kansas Ocean ...

Luv,
Dave

  1. Shaved ice and an ocean? Next you will have Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio standing on the ship and . . . ok, maybe the ice is not that big.

P.S. our word of the day is rembed. Is that remember bed? Or REM sleep in bed? Either way, we are off to a nap.

  4. Geez Dave, you are really working way too hard pondering all of the fabric choices.

I like the fact you are trying to set up Zim, Ammy and Stormy with the correct colors for them.

I would never even give Flash a second thought except of how to steal his stuff.

After all your work you deserve a rest.

  10. Your brain is going to explode from all that hard work Davy. My mum says some of the fabric she sent your mum might work too. I definitely remember seeing a beach on one of them.

  13. It sounds like you could help counter-act global warming with those colors!!! My color-blind Mom thinks the material is beautiful, and since you have given you CBGD stamp of approval, she can rest assured that it really is! ;-)

The other new fabric looks delightful - particularly liked the shaved ice. Even better when it's a bargain too.
