Weather Update

Hi everypuppy and everycat. It's me, Amber, coming to you today from the Ao4 Weather Lab. We had quite the storm roll in yesterday, and I'm here with a report.

It all started just after 1600 hours. Mom and I went out to study the skies and this is what we saw:

And a bit later, it looked like this:

We knew what was coming, and sure enough, a huge storm rolled in.

Me, Ammy, in the Ao4 Weather Lab. On alert.

I monitored everything from the
Ao4 Weather Lab while Mom went out to take pix of it rolling in. Here's one of the first shots of it appearing on the western horizon:

The wind started kicking up, then there was a lot of this:

We got tons of rain and hail, thunder and lightning, and winds at our airport were measured at 93 miles per hour. It was quite the storm. Many homes and businesses were without power, windows got blown out, trucks and cars were thrown around like toys, and there was a lot of damage to trees and roofs. Let's look at the
Ao4 Collage-a-tron to see some of the damage in our neighborhood:

There were shingles all over the place. We think the ones in that photo are from our next-door-neighbor, but we aren't sure. They were in our yard. The photo to the right of the shingles is our next-door-neighbor's tree; it was uprooted like a weed! Also the metal edging in their garden was wrapped around everything. (The tree was totaled; Dad just got back from helping the neighbor take it to the land-fill.) The other tree is from another neighbor. A lot of the trees in our city look like that one.

After the storm, we had a beautiful display of mammatus clouds. Mom shot this picture out front:

We were extremely fortunate and had only minor damage to our house and gardens. We've also heard of no loss of life associated with the storm - and that's the most important thing!!!

We are expecting another round of storms to come through today, with possible tornadic activity. Mom and Dad just got done cleaning everything up and re-securing the windows and everything to get ready for more high winds. Just to lighten things up a bit ... do you know how easy it is for wind gusts to talk to each other? ... It's a breeze.

"Hee hee hee!"

A little humor goes a long way sometimes!

Keep an eye to the sky, everyone, and stay safe!

  5. Yikes! That was a scary storm! We're glad everyone is okay and we're crossing our paws that you don't get a bad storm today. Those are mighty strong mailboxes to still be standing after all that though!

  6. Wow, that's very scary damage! The humans in charge of the house next door still haven't cleaned up the tree that fell. I'd like to play in it, but the human woman won't let me.

    Stay safe!

  12. Amazing photos of a major storm. Mom hasn't seen anything like that since she lived back east. And maybe that's even scarier than anything she saw there. Wow - glad peoples and pups are okay - never heard of Mammatus clouds, but they sure are amazing looking! Love your joke, as always, Ammy!
