Buckled In and Ready To Roll!

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  I don't know about the rest of you, but I know that when I see my seatbelt harness come out, it means Mom and I are about to leave on a really cool adventure!  Yesterday was no exception!  Mom snapped my harness around me, I jumped into the car, got buckled in ...

♩"Get your motor running!  Head out on the highway!
Lookin' for adventure 'n' whatever comes our way!...."♩

... and I was ready to roll!  I just knew we were headed somewhere really fun - and I was right!  We drove out to Tuttle Creek Reservoir/Dam/Lake/Ocean/Whatever!!!

It was a nice, blustery day, so we had a blast looking around.

"Check the water level, Mom!"

We've actually had some rain - and the snow! - so the water level has come up a bit.  It's still about 11.5 feet lower than normal, but it's come up some!

Since I see so much better than Mom, I try to spot things for her.

"Mom!  There are some funky-looking ducks out there, bobbing for fishies!
Out past those floats!"

I don't remember seeing these ducks before, so I made sure to point them out.  Mom had to zoom way in with her camera, and this is what she came up with:

Picture-in-a-picture -- female ducks with crazy punk hairdos!

Seriously, aren't their hairdos cool?!?  They almost have an Ian Poulter thing or something going on.  The males were a bit tamer, hairstyle-wise.  Here's a shot of a female on the left and a male on the right:

Our aunt said they're Mergansers.  Cool!  I didn't know that, I just knew I liked their crazy hairdos!

"Hey, girl ducks!  Great hairdos!"

I hope the guy ducks appreciate their style!

OK ...

... back behind the chin rest.  Got it.

In case anyone's wondering, we didn't walk down closer to the water because we had rain and snow lately that melted and our gravel path and the hill are covered in slick mud.  Oh, I know!  I see no problem with that, either, but apparently there are rules about muddy paws and Mom's car.  Hmm.  Go figure.

I hope you had fun on our adventure!  I loved having you with us - and seeing some new ducks!

Play bows,
Zim

  1. Those ducks are WAAAAAY cool. And I do believe your Aunt is right they are Mergansers. I don't get the mud thing either. Recently I jut taught a class to some young pups about mud. They loved the class and I bet their parents didn't mind the mud. It's all apart of the educational experience.
