Ha roo, pups and cool cats! It's me, Zim! Remember yesterday I told you I'd share some of Mom's bird pix with you? Today, I'll show you the pix I helped her take, then tomorrow, we'll post ones she took today. Yes, today. The day she went out without me or Dave ... and came back once again smelling of Border Collies. Hmm. Well, that's OK. She had fun and Dave and I did, too. Napping.
Anyway ...
I'll cut the chit-chat to a minimum and get to the pix! Ready?!!? Let's go birding!
I spotted this little Merganser for Mom:
Before too long, he swam over to join up with some friends of his:
Some more Mergansers joined the parade:
In this next shot, the duck on the left was checking for stragglers. Must be a Drill Sergeant duck!
"Way to keep 'em all in line!" |
Gotta love a good Drill Sergeant!
These Mergansers met up with some Canada Geese and a gull:
Mergansers swimming one way, gooses and gull the other! |
And check this next shot carefully! On the logs, you'll see mostly Canada Geese, but on the log closest to us, over on the left, there is a Heron! There is also a little Merganser swimming over on the right!
Did you see them all? Pretty cool, huh?
We went to another place on the River Pond and saw all kinds of cool stuff!
There were some gooses walking around:
And some gooses in the water! I think this one was flirting!
This Goose showed us his cool wings ... but look behind him:
Can you see the other goose photo bombing? Ha roo roo roo! Or maybe he was going to goose the other goose!
OK, now ... hold onto your collars! Guess what else we saw? Check it out:
That's right - PELICANS! In that photo above, they're hanging out with a gull and a couple Mergansers! (Apparently, Mom got much better pix of the pelicans today, so please be sure to tune back in tomorrow!) We were really excited to see them! I mean PELICANS! In KANSAS! Mighty cool.
Back near where we parked, we saw this Bald Eagle!
It's either a juvenile Bald Eagle or one who needs to wash the white feathers on his head a bit! Ha roo roo roo! Here's another look:
Gorgeous, isn't it? For a couple more pix of the Bald Eagle, please click here to view our Bird set on FlickR!
I hope you enjoyed seeing the birds I spotted for Mom! I sure had a blast seeing them all!
Play bows,
Zim

Dave, you're a better dog than me. I'd be wanting to chase those ducks and geese and also sample what they've left behind!
ReplyDeleteSteve
Awesome photos! We just had a bird talk yesterday and decided all the birds in AZ were LBB - Little Brown Birds. It's hard to tell them apart when you aren't an expert!
ReplyDeleteSam
Oh wow! You got another adventure with the birds, how lucky you are Zimmie!
ReplyDeleteSure hope Davey got to go walkies, too!
