A lot of you had questions about her, so here's the low down: Camo is from Polargold Siberians and Finnish Lapphunds. As she said, she is D'Azul's Girl From Ipanema. (One of Dave's favorite songs, I might add.) Anyway, she retired from the show ring, raised a couple litters of puppies, and was a member of our buddy Captain Maverick's crew! Sadly, Cap'n Mav recently passed away. To make a long story short, Cam decided at the age of 5 to join the pups who've joined the Army! She was spayed (if you've noticed her shaved tummy and the shaved spot on her forearm, that's what that's all about!), took a little time to get all healed up, and now here she is -- my new recruit!
As she's told you, we do a lot of road marching here. Here I am on one of our first marches, checking her respiration rate:
"You're good to go, recruit! Now keep up the pace!" "Thanks, Zimmie! Umm... I mean Drill Sergeant!" |
Back at HQ, I made sure she knows where the water bowls are so she can stay hydrated.
"Get a drink and quit posing, recruit! No slacking off!" "Yes, Drill Sergeant!" |
I've assigned her to KP Duty a couple times already; she took to it like my duck friends to water!
"Alright! Fridge is there, stove there, sink behind you ... any questions?" "No, Drill SGT Zzzz...." |
She's a good recruit; just needs to get used to the pace here. She's been excelling at the evening routine, I must say. Here she is, following my lead:
And when Dave took over for me, she followed right along with him, too:
She's a fast, fast learner! We're all keeping an eye on her, making sure she gets enough rest, too.
"Are you doing OK, Camo?" "Yes, Zimmie, thank you!" |
Everyone needs a little down-time, right?
I hope that answers some of your questions about the new recruit! It's a big adjustment for all of us, but we're doing great. Many thanks to all of you for helping us welcome my new little sister --- I mean recruit!
Play bows,
SGT Zim
Wow! But how is she at playing and zoomies and such?

She is fitting in to the Army very nicely. So what is her rank? And how do you and Dave keep your mind on the task at hand with her around. I would be way distracted.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
Brilliant that Cam is settling in so well. We are mega pleased. We are so looking forward to all your adventures. Nice one! Have a terrific Thursday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
CAMO is really learning fast ... butt then she has a super DRILL SGT. to teach her the Ropes/Leashes. hehehe
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your newest recruit! (We're a bit behind...) With you two to show her the ropes, she should be a stellar cadet in No Time!

Dear Zim, You may have everyone fooled with your drill sergeant routine but I know you are a big softy and are showing Camo the ropes gently. She does fit into our pack nicely-she is beautiful. Your mom and dad are so very special to take her and give her a new forever home.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun evening.

ReplyDeleteLove ya lots
Mitch and Molly
She's fitting in right away! What a lucky girl she is, too!
ReplyDeleteWell, this explains a lot. She used to be a show off doggie? Her stack will come in handy during perimeter defense.
