Remember the tree Maggie mentioned yesterday? You saw me sitting up above it, where you see the purples and reds! Here's a look from inside the backyard:
Me, in front of the Purple Ash tree! |
I wasn't really leaning like that; the sun was so bright, Mom had a hard time seeing the viewer thingie on her camera and didn't realize she was holding it crooked. Oops. Anyway, back to the Purple Ash ... if you look at it from underneath, it looks like this:
Golds and reds and yellows! Isn't that pretty?!?
Here's my favorite part of the yard, and one of Mom's favorite photos:
That's our White Ash tree on your left, then me, then the Amur Maples.
"You have roasted chicken Zukes in your pocket, right, Mom?" |
Mom took several shots of me here. I love to sit and watch everything from this part of the yard!
"I love this time of year!" |
Here are some of the Amur Maple leaves mixed in with a Dragon's Blood Sedum plant:
Aren't Fall colors wonderful?!?
I ran around and did some exploring for a while:
I was under the King's Choice Elm there. It doesn't really turn intense colors like our other trees, but I like it a lot. There are usually all kinds of interesting things under there.
I went back and struck a pose under the Amur Maples.
The Amur River is one of the longest rivers in the world. It starts in Siberia, so I feel quite at home among these trees!
I ran around on the next tier down for a while, then stopped beside one of the Feather Reed Grasses:
Mom's photos seem better when I'm standing still. I have no idea why. She didn't take any good action shots!

"Do you have any more Zuke's?" |
In that picture above, you can see some of the reds in the Feather Reed Grass, the Amur Maples behind me, and part of the huge White Ash.
We also love the bursts of the seed heads on the ornamental grasses that wave around at this time of year and our blue, blue Kansas sky! Here's another of Mom's favorite photos from the day:
"Hello!" |
I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the Fall leaves and colors right in our own backyard! Thanks for coming with me; Zuke's treats for everyone!
Cammie!

My momma is envious of the brilliant colors in your yard. Around here, the pretty leaves are just about over and master is impatient for ALL the leaves to come down so he can get them cleaned up.

We MUST savor the BEAUTIFUL colors of Autumn... and REMEMBER them in the BROWN and "WHITE" time of WINTER.
ReplyDeleteJust stunning and that is why we love this time of year. Hmm and maybe because of the squirrels. Have a super Saturday.
