Shark Week Sunday

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  Today wraps up Shark Week - have you been watching any of it on TV?  If not, we thought we'd give you a little glimpse into some shark activity right here in Kansas!

The other day, we went into the depths of the Studio ...

I had just sought refuge in the shark cage when ...

"Look out!  SHARK!!!"
"Shark?  Naw ... c'mon.  I don't see a shark ..."

Only I didn't mean Mags!  I meant ...

"UMPH!"
"Me!  I'm the Shark!!!  BOOM!"

I turned the tables on the Great (Red and) White Shark!!!

"OH, NO!  It's the mama Great (Red and) White Shark!!!"
"That makes you the ... baby shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo ..."

Sorry.  I had to say that!

Anyway, we swam around playing shark attack for a while, then the little one needed a break.

"The other Great (Red and) White doesn't like to swim in these waters.  I'm safe in here."

"True.  ... but I can wait." 

That's the shark activity from here.  Any sightings in your area?!?

Shark Attack!

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  Is it Shark Week?  No, it's too early for that, isn't it?  I don't mean to alarm anyone, but I've had a sighting already!

Long-time readers of the Ao4 Digest know that we have a bit of a history of sharks here in our corner of the world.  It seems the Great (Red and) White frequents our area.  Hopefully, this link will take you to previous reports; if not, please enter the word shark in our search engine and you'll get there.

Anyway, Mom and Dad moved our carrier (AKA 10 Downing Street) downstairs into the Studio.  We went down to check it out yesterday.  Since the door was open, I went in to have a little snooze while Mom did her quilt-y things.  But SUDDENLY ...

"Oooh, this looks ni---"
"BOOM!"

It's like I had been lowered down in one of those shark cages -- only someone left the door open!

"Just when I thought it was safe to go back into the Studio ..."
"You're going to need a bigger carrier.  Ha roo roo roo!"

"SHARK!  SHARK!!!"
"There's no hiding from the Great (Red and) White!"

Hmm.  Fortunately for me, the Great (Red and) White had just eaten lunch and was almost as ready as I was to settle in for a little nap.

"Just let me catch a few Zs, then it's back to the shark attack."
"I really need to figure out how to shut the door on this shark cage."

Thankfully, the shark moved off to hunt in other waters after her nap.  I think I'm going to like having the shark cage down there.  I mean "10 Downing Street".  I mean ... you get the picture.

Shark Cage

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie!  You know, Cam and I have really been enjoying having 10 Downing Street transformed into a shark cage!  We love to race down the stairs, then Cam dives into the cage, and I do a shark attack.  It's great fun.  Then we take a break.

"Zzz ... "
"Zzz ... "

Oh.  Except that sometimes ...

"Thaaaaaat's right.  The shark has taken over the shark cage!"
"I've got to learn how to shut that door!"

What can I say?  We both like being able to "den" in there!

Pool Shark 2

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cam.  Last week, I had to fight off a shark attack in the bedroom ... and this week ...

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water ...

"GASP!"
"Ha-roo ... Cammie!"

That's right - SHARK!!!!!!  It's a Great (Red and) White!  I'm sure it's the same one I spotted last year.  As Police Chief Brody once said, "I think we have another shark problem!"

Something's Missing

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  The other day, Maggie and I went downstairs to help Mom in her Studio for a while.  At first we helped by playing with our bones, then very shortly after we got the treats out of them, we played a bit, and then settled in for a nap.  Only ...

"Wait.  Something's missing."
"Really?  Everything seems fine to me."

"No, really.  Something's ... wait.  Where did the shark cage go?" 
"Oh, that?  Hmm.  Maybe some pirates took it!"

Pirates?!?  In the Studio?  That seemed unlikely.  I hadn't seen any pirates down there.  But then I looked a little closer at Maggie and ...

"Harrrr!  All I need now is a skull!  I've already got the crossed bones!"

I can't really wrap my head around Maggie being a pirate, but it would seem she is responsible for the shark cage not being there any more.

"I couldn't help it, Cam.  I missed 10 Downing Street too much!"
"I understand, Mags."

She loves to sleep in 10 Downing Street at night, so Mom and Dad (not pirates) moved it back upstairs for her.  We might get another shark cage to put in the Studio.

Pool Shark?

Hello, everyone.  It's me, Cammie!  As many of you know, there have been many reports this Summer of shark attacks.  We've looked for sharks when we go past the Kansas Ocean (there's no swimming allowed there), but haven't seen any.  We do keep a close lookout for them, though, because you never know - and it always pays to be safe.  I'm even on guard when I'm in our pool.

"Does anyone else hear the theme from Jaws playing in their heads?"

This gives an all-new meaning to the term "pool shark".

My Tutorial, Cut Short

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie.  Our mom has a sinus infection.  I mean she actually went to see a doctor, which means it's a whopper of a sinus infection or else she'd blow it off.  The doc loaded her up with all kinds of meds and she's been a bit wiped out.  She is a non-napper; she just never naps!  I don't mean to brag, but since I am an expert in this area, I thought I'd help her out!  Time for a little tutorial!

I got her to lay down with me.  We held paws for a while and then ...

"That's it.  Relax, Mom.  Wait.  Do you hear the theme song from Jaws, or is it just me?"

Anyone notice the triangular fin behind me?  My Spidey-senses were going off big time!

"She's right behind me, isn't she?"

I knew without looking it was the Great (Red and) White Shark I'd seen in this location many times before!  I sensed the shark circling ...

... and knew she was about to strike!

"BOOM!"

That pretty much put an end to my nap tutorial.  Mom said we made her smile, though, and that helped her feel a bit better!

Lower Deck

Hi everybody! It's me, Ragnar. We all went out on the deck the other day after Mom cleaned it. It's shady in the mornings, so it's not too hot back there. Mom thought we'd want to go onto the lower deck, where we have more room, only ...

 

"C'mon down, Ragnar!"
"I dunno, Mom.  There's something scary down there ..."

I know what you're thinking. It wasn't because of Bart the Bat. Yes, he was down there - here's a bad iPhone shot of him:

We don't bother Bart and Bart doesn't bother us. There was another predator down there, circling around like a shark, ready to grab me!  I could sense it!  Take a look!

"Oh.   Hello ... Raggi.  Want to play a little game?"

Oh, sure.  She looks innocent and all, but don't let that fool you!  She's got teeth like a shark!!!

Just kidding. I couldn't resist coming down -- we had a fun play session on the lower deck!  Come to think of it, I hope Bart enjoyed our Snooter Jousting event!

I Thought Shark Week Was Over!

Greetings to all!  It's me, Mags.  There I was, down in Mom's Studio.  I had just finished playing with my Pickle when I could have sworn I heard the theme from "Jaws" playing!  Before I knew it ...

"Argh!  It's a Great White!!"
"Gotcha, Mags!"

Well, kind of grey and white ... but he IS great!

"You'll never take me down, Jaws!"
"You're kinda already down, Mags ..."

 He had a point there!  But I was able to twist free from him and ...

"Try me now, Raggi!"
"You're on!"
"You two are playing sweet, aren't you?!?"

Are we "playing sweet"!?!  Is she kidding?  We always play sweet!  We love each other!  

We had a great play session, then took naps.  Mom seemed to get more done once we were in nap-mode.  I have no idea why!

Diversion

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie.  The other day, Maggie and I went downstairs to help our mom in her Studio.  She was engaged in a very tedious, long, irritating process called "ripping out".  It seemed to involve removing 4 very lengthy borders from a quilt she is making.  Mags and I thought she needed a pleasant diversion!

We did our best to entertain her with a round of CROG (Crazed River Otter Games):

"BOOM!"
"BOOM!!!"

Does Maggie look more like she's playing Shark Attack there, or was it just my vantage point?

Mom seemed to enjoy watching us play and even put down her seam ripper (backwards sewing tool).  That's when I made my move.

"Break time, Mom?  I think you know what to do!"
"Wait ... let me get into position!"

She knew exactly what I needed - and I knew it would help her relax, too!

"Oh, yeah, Mom!  Right there!"
"Me next, OK?"
"My sweet, sweet girls!!!"

"This is so wonderful!  Just what I needed!"
"Don't forget about me!"
"Let me put down the iPhone, Mags ..."

Mom set down her phone and did double-duty.  It was so relaxing!  Before we knew it, Maggie and I were totally rejuvenated and ready for Round 2!

"A little more CROG action, Mags?"
"You're on!"
"And ... back to ripping ..."

Mom said we were the perfect diversion and had all of her borders taken off before she knew it!  What can we say?  We are Siberian Huskies and we are a Working Breed!

Buckingham Palace

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cam!  Before I get started, remember when we had the Shark Cage in the Studio?  I liked that a lot; I could use that as a nice retreat.  Maggie really missed having 10 Downing Street in the bedroom, though, so Mom and Dad moved it back upstairs for her.  They said we could look into getting another den for me!

So ... the other day, Mom had been working on a small quilt in her Studio.  When she finished, she brought the quilt upstairs and Maggie and I both posed on it:

"This is nice, Mom!"
"Yeah, I like this side a lot!"

The side we're sitting on was Dad's rucksack cover from Desert Storm.  The other side is PINK!

I happen to love pink, but Maggie isn't too keen on it.  Rumor has it that Mom tried to get Maggie to pose on the pink side while they were downstairs, and she wouldn't.  You know - because it's pink!

The very next day, Mom said, "Let's hit the Studio, girls!" and there was talk of stuffed Pickles.  I ran downstairs and ...

"WOW, Mom!  Is this for me?!!?"
"Yes, Cammie!  Your very own den!"

I loved it immediately!

"This is the perfect place to play with my Pickle!"

For now, we have the desert camo side up, not the pink - but it is fully reversible.  I thought with the desert camo I might blend in really well and ...

"I wonder where Cammie is?  I can't even see her."
"Ah ... peace and quiet!"

I've decided since Maggie has 10 Downing Street upstairs, this will be known as Buckingham Palace!  It seems fitting, don't you think?

Table Shark!

Ha roo, pups and cool cats, it's me, Zim!  So there I was last night ... something smelled incredible in the kitchen.  I'm not normally a chow hound, but I found the smell irresistible.  I waited until I thought I could make a move.  It came right as Dad got up to get something, oddly enough ...

"Up, periscope!"

and then ...

"Preparing to scan the AO..."

I gave the area a quick scan.  The smell was so strong, it was intoxicating!  I knew I needed to make a move sooner rather than laterrrr ...

"Oh.  Hi, Mom."

Hmm.  The target was too well guarded.

Yeah.  

"Oh.  Hi, Dad.  I was ... err ... just ... uhh ... can I pull your chair out for you?"

And no, of course I didn't get any.  But I did get an extra piece of Stinky Goodness after I had my dinner!
