Serene Scenery Sunday

Ha roo, everypup and everykitty!  It's me, Zim.  Is everyone feeling serene today?  As Dave told you yesterday, I had one of my zen-like moments at the park the other day and I thought I'd share it with you.  I hope it will help you find your own calm, peaceful place.

It came over me after Dave and I saw those geese and the duck.  That sense of serenity washed over me ... and I knew if the geese and their duck friend would just give me a chance, I could win them over.

I'm going to the other side of the lake.  Follow me.  Follow me over there.

And they did.  Ignoring the people fishing, a few other dogs, and others... they followed me.

One of the guys from Canada came over first.  I kept very still, so I wouldn't scare him.

Hey, Goose!  I'm Zim.  Thanks for trusting me.

He must have been doing some goose recon, decided I was OK, then brought the local guy over.  He was a little shy at first ...

... or maybe he was imitating Gus' sister Callie.  (Ha roo roo roo!)  But he eventually warmed up to me, too.

I don't speak Goose and they don't speak Siberian, but we did share a very comfortable silence between us.  A serene silence.

I went into Zen-overdrive so they'd round up their friends and bring them over.

I'll just turn my head, so you don't feel threatened or anything.

As I'd hoped, they brought the rest of their little flock over.

We had a nice time, just relaxing with each other, sending calm non-verbals to each other.  It was such a special time.  I hope to come back to the park again soon.  I hope my new friends will remember me!

I'll come see you gooses again soon!

What a beautiful time we had.  I hope each one of you finds that same level of serenity today!

Play bows,
Zim

  3. Hi Zim, you must have been very peaceful for those geese to come so close to you. No barking, or growling - we would never have managed that - especially not Bailey!
Isnt it nice when we can all live in harmony!

  6. Zim, You have inspired me to try to remain calm for at least 35 seconds every 1 hour. I think I can do that. I also feel compelled to go do some puppy yoga and then put my feety feets up in the air.

Thanks for sharing your peaceful moment of wild life watching. You are such an inspiration to us all.

    Thanks,

    Your pal,
    Ozzie

  7. Zim - that was a very serene post. I kinda think I would like to eat a serene goose. He or she would probably be very tender........being so serene and non stressed.

Good on you for keeping them serene.

Harmony though is good. Have to confess though, I ate one of Oswald's distant but very Scottish relatives this arvo, well I chewed it a bit.

We are totally over run with rabbits here.

My J says it cannot be helped, we had two rabbits a few weeks ago, and now we seem to be over run with 'em.............I have no idea why this should be!

    love and licks, Marvin xxxxxxx

  10. Wow, I don't think I've ever gotten that close to a goose. I'm not as calm as you so they always swim far away.

  11. Zim,
I'm not quite mature enough to practice zen with our feathered friends. I'm still into playing tag with them.

  13. OK, Zim, first its that you are very good with small children, then its good with frightened dogs, I am sure you would be good with old ladies like me, and now with ducks and geese. You are amazing! Have you ever considered joining a monastery and becoming a Lama? Bringing peace to the world? Writing books on peaceful sharing? I think the world is waiting for you, Zim!

    Kisses,
    Stella

    Heya Zim and buds,
We think Joe Stains got it right; you are the Goose Whisperer. You must have been emminating sereness to have them follow you and then come so close. None of us would have been able to pull that off. You have a unique talent.

  17. Zimmie, tell your mum to hire the DVD of The Castle, an Australian film. You'll find lots of serenity in that too :)

    You are totally awesome. Really.

  18. That's so cool that they came over to say hi! I like to get into that position right before I pounce at the duck and chicken next door! :)

I think I'll go do some yoga poses before I go out and scare...umm...play with the duck and chicken! :)

  22. Ah, sweet serenity. What a wonderful time you and the gooses -- uh, geese and ducks had. We need a lake so we can practice serenity.

Instead, we have Jan running hither and zither, vacuuming and knocking things over. Can we come visit your lake?

  23. Wow, the Zim Zen is powerful. Exactly what did you do with Dave during this time so you work so intently?

  24. So Zim does Zen - very peaceful and serene indeed. We could all use a little peace and serenity. Hope your water friends come to say hi again.

  30. Zim, you sure have a way with the animals. I bet the geese would have come even closer if your mom hadn't been scaring them away.
