Storm Cast

Hi everypuppy and everycat. And Jasmine the Goat, too! It's me - Ammy. As many of you know, I am the Chief Meteorologist here at Ao4 HQs and have a mighty keen sense of knowing exactly what our weather is going to be. I have been trying to train Zim for the longest time. He's really pretty good, but he has a bit of a problem focusing. Let's take yesterday, for example...

We had "some weather" blowing in, Dad was out on the golf course, and Mom thought we should check to see how the storm was moving, so we could give him an accurate forecast if he called home. Zim said he was game for the task, so I let him handle it. I was watching out the windows - so here's how it went down.

Here he is, out in the yard.

Zim not checking the skies
Zimmie. Not really keeping an eye to the sky.

Umm... the storm is behind him. But he wasn't pulling on the leash, so Mom was able to snap this cool picture of the clouds:

cloud formation

Isn't that pretty? But what is Zim doing? He looks very serious here...

Zim checking something

...and like he's studying something very carefully! "Way to go, Zimmie! Is it the clouds? A nose to the wind? A change in temperature? A..." ...wait a minute. He's zeroing in on something. He's...

Zim spots Oswald
"Oswald!"

"Oh, Zimmie! This is no time to commune with your bunny friends!"

Oswald 2
"Hey, Zim, how ya been?"

Oswald 1
"Yeah, I've been hanging out more in your neighbor's yard this season.
They're growing veggies out back. I'll show you where they are."

Zim waits for Oswald
"Yeah, I've missed you, buddy. Veggies, huh? Cool. I'll just sit here and wait..."

Sigh. Talk about getting distracted! Thankfully, Mom made Zim get up and come home. Honestly! He forgot all about the storm coming and whether we should warn Dad about lightning!

Mom let me come out and make a weather call:

Ammy, Chief Meteorologist, Ao4 HQs
"Hmmm...."

I checked the skies to the north...

27 JUL 09 skies to the north

...and decided we had about 20 minutes before we would get smacked. Dad probably had 30 where he was. He called in and Mom gave him my prediction and guess what? He was just able to finish 18 holes, get his clubs in the SUV, and get into the vehicle himself before it started pouring rain! And that took about ... 30 minutes. Pretty good, don't you think?

Ammy
Who's your source for accurate weather forecasting?

Zim needs a bit more training. In a bunny-free zone. Sigh.

Call me if you need any storm casting done for your area!

Love,
Ammy

PS: Before I close, I would like to thank our dear and very handsome friend Ludo for this award:

Thank you, Ludo!!!

He said, "Ao4... especially Dave and Zim. They always teach me so much when they post and give me such good advices on life, if ever I has a puzzlement about something they my first place to go." Isn't he so sweet? The boys really appreciate his thoughtfulness and love being able to help where they can! Thank you, Ludo!!!

  1. I am wracking my siberian brain. Isn't there a test that has something to do with a rabbit dying? Obviously not a weather test.

  8. Hmm we dont think Zim is going to make it as a weather pup. He completely forgot the approaching storm when he spied Oswald - this is not a good sign.
As always we are loving you pictures. Very clear and lovely colours.
Zimmy looked very handsome and his blue lead was very nice!
Loved the cloud pics. Thank goodness your Dad could get round 18 holes in time - we anticipate meeting up with him when he plays at the Open next year!

  10. Woo is the best with the weather! Zim is just such a social sibe that it is hard for him to focus! Besides, we girls DO use both sides of our brains!!!

  11. Aw, Zim is so cool. The whole Zen thing with Oswald. Not everyone has the innate talent to be a meteorological person. Zim will probably wind up the Ao4's staff psychologist or something like that. Not everybody can do weather AND stand-up, Ammy! You are so talented in those directions.

    Kisses,
    Stella

  13. Someone definitely has something else on their mind instead of watching the clouds. Now we agree that Ozwald is much more interesting.

  14. Hi Ammy!
You really are amazing at predicting the weather! Zim may need a bit more training but I can't think of a better sibe to teach him!

  15. Zimster - Can you teach us that sitting pose. Your right leg look very spread out. Kind of like a recliner sit. Very zen/zim.

  16. Great forecasting Ammy! It appears that Zim might not be the Sibe to train to watch the weather since he doesn't look up much when there's Oswalds to see on the ground.

  17. Hang in there, Ammy, he'll get it soon enough. Right now, Oswald is more enticing than a storm.

  18. Looks like Zimmy is not really worried about weather!
Here you don't need a weather specialist. It is hot, then hot and later hot!

  20. LOL! Silly Zim! I love the picture of his ears zeroing in on Oswald. Too cute.

You always have such impressive looking clouds. We've had some pretty good ones east of you too, but I haven't taken many pictures because you can't see them at the house (trees) and I never have my camera with me while driving. It's nice to be able to see your clouds.

    Ammy, excellent forecasting job!

  25. Hey there, Zim
You are really gorgeous buddy! Forget the weather, but that dark sky backdrop really highlights your gorgeous coat! Mind you..that bunny's coat looks cool too. Why didn't you chase it, dude?
I must also say, we love that GREEN grass. Here in SA, everything is so dry at the moment, waiting for fire. For us, any rain will do, even if it means scary weather.
Lots of licks to the entire gang!

  27. Hi Zim!
You´re really good at being the weatherman. Even with the bunny around. If it were us, we start pulling on the leashes and barking at ANY bunnies, squirrels, birds, etc.. around.
    Wow! That cloud looks angry!
    As always, AMAZING pictures!

  30. Zim, I love that last photo of you. Great shot! Ammy, I would be even more distracted than Zim was looking at Oswald. Matter of fact, there is no chance anyone would have had time to snap a pic before I chased him away. Oh, what I wouldn't give to be able to catch one of those fuzzy things! So, give Zim a break, he was able to resist taking off after the little varmit!
    Love and hugs,

  33. We have tons of rabbits out here, so no weather predicting here for sure. We just know that is going to be REALLY HOT until about November :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Can you predict when we will get some cooler weather? I'd love some snow, but maybe that's asking for too much.

I think maybe Zimmie should just stick with being a critter whisperer.
