Bonne Fête de Saint Nicolas!

Hello, everyone!  It's me, Cammie!  Mags and I would like to wish everyone a happy Saint Nicolas Day!!!

"Yeah!  Happy Saint Nick Day!"
" 'Bonne fête de Saint Nicolas', as they say in southern Belgium!"

In parts of Europe, children put their shoes (wooden sabots) or small baskets at the hearth with treats for Saint Nicolas' horse and maybe even leave out a glass of wine for the saint himself. Mom bought the sabots we are posing by when she, Dad, and our great sisters lived in Belgium. On St. Nicolas' Eve, St. Nicolas rides on horseback over the rooftops, dropping gifts down the chimneys. In the morning, shoes have been filled treats!

"I checked our sabots; all I found was greenery.  And it's not very tasty, either."
"He did leave us treats, though ... didn't he?!?"
"YES, of course he did!  I have them right here!!!"

Whew.  I was afraid we'd come up empty-pawed!  Mom had already taken the Stinky Goodness treats out of the sabots to give to us.  We were duly rewarded for our sweet poses - and for being such very good girls!!!

Did you leave your shoes out last night?!?  Bonne fête de Saint Nicolas, everyone!

Cammie!
