The other morning, Mom and I came outside to find a gloomy, blah day. But as we looked around, we saw these tiny, beautiful splashes of yellow in the trees! Look:
Four and twenty Waxwings... |
Aren't they lovely? The ornamental fruit trees were filled with Cedar Waxwings, stopping by to have a snack!
Don't they look sweet?!? They were across the street in our neighbors' tree - then they came into our next-door neighbors' tree. I thought we should go have a closer look!
Mom said we needed to approach slowly and quietly. I did my best to accommodate:
Me, tip-toeing over to see the birdies! |
Here are some of the shots we got:
I love how yellow the tip of his tail is! And check out this next guy:
He has a mask like us Siberians do!
This guy on the right's snarfing down one of those fruits:
Dave gets told, "NononoDAVIDno!!!" when he tries to do that. (Even though our tree is gone - click here for the story - our neighbors have plenty of fruit-dropping trees.)
I was happy to walk around under the trees while Mom shot her pix ... and then ...
"Look out below!!!" |
...then I thought it would behoove us to move along.
"Come on, Mom, let's move over a bit!" |
It's been a while since we've shared one of our sunsets with you - so here's a look at our Friday evening skyline:
Sunset over the Flint Hills |
Gorgeous, isn't it? I hope you feel nice and serene now!
Tail wags,

Same thing happens here. The birds get all the fruits and I just get MANGONO!

Pretty birds! Love the little yellow tip on their tails!
ReplyDeleteGood thing you moved out of the way and didnt get pooped on! :)
oh those birds are so pretty. We had a flock of them here by the house. Two men arrived in a car outside, and Jeannie wondered what they were doing, as they got out, and began taking photos of our house!!
ReplyDeleteOf course my J was at first very cross, and she opened the top bedroom window and yelled at them,"what do you think you are doing? Taking photos of my house, this is a private residence!", of course the men apologised, but it wasn't the house, it was the Waxwings in the trees they wanted pics of!! And of course by yelling at them, the Waxwings flew off!! Spoiling the photo. Well, she is scary when riled I guess.
Lovely, lovely skilled photos of the Waxwings, your Mama is vey clever. Lotsaluv, Marvin xxxxxx
And Stormy you are looking good too!
Those sure are some pretty photos and birds. The only birds we see around our house are just those big black birds. :(

All of your photos left us breathless. First, because the birds in our neighborhood are all brown, except the grey pigeons in the park. (If mom and dad drive further south about three hours down we get more colorful birds. Now why can't they fly three hours further north?)
ReplyDeleteSecond, because you got skills!
Mocha Barney, Ashley Pumpernickel and Winniechurchill
