Learning Sentry Duty

Greetings to all!  It's me, Maggie, here with today's post.  I'm learning new things every day here at Ao4 Headquarters - like that we have a place called "upstairs", that it might not be a good idea to jump Aunt CamCam if she's sleeping, and that I shouldn't pounce on Daddy's socks and use my cute little puppy teeth on them.  Hmm.  Actually, we might still be working on that third one.  And maybe the second one.  And oh, is "upstairs" fun!!!  Anyway, what I seem to excel at is Sentry Duty!

Cam has been working really hard with me.  Here I am, learning the ropes:

"Good girl, Maggie.  Now that you've done your business, check the AO!"
"OK, Aunt CamCam!"

I wasn't sure what we were checking for at first, but Cam explained that I'm to look for anything that seems out of place.

"What about up there in that yard?  I see a person!"

That was just the kind of thing Cammie wanted me to notice.

"Very good, little one.  Now sit and stare!"

You can tell how alert I am, can't you?  Aunt Cam thought I had progressed to the point that I'd dazzle Zimmie with my sentry skills, though, so we had the Changing of the Guard, and I came back out with him.

"Zimmie, there was a person at 10 o'clock!"
"I don't see anyone now, Mags."

He said we should re-scan the entire AO to make sure all was clear.

"You're a natural at this, Maggie T."
"Thank you, Zimmie!  I'm very much in favor of a strong defense, you know!"

He said I've come a long way in the three and a half weeks I've been here!

"Thank you, SGT Zim!"
"Gotcha covered, kid."

I love doing Sentry Duty with Zim -- and with Cammie!  For some reason, when all three of us pull duty together, things aren't quite so calm.  We sure do have a good time, though!

Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher
