What I Do

Ha roo, pups and cool cats!  It's me - Zim!  As you know, Dave works very hard as our Mom's Guide Dog for the Color Blind.  Here's a recent shot of him performing his duties:

Some of you might be wondering what I do to keep myself busy while Dave's working in the Studio.  Well, fear not!  I'm hard at work, too!  Oh, I don't do color stuff - I'm on Guard Duty!

I like to position myself on the stair landing, so I can deal with any intruders who might try to use the steps.  No one gets in or out of the downstairs without going past me! Mom shot this pic of me the other day with her iPhone. You can see what an exhausting job I have!

"Zzzzz...."

Well, OK... I might have been taking a break at that point... but only because I had been working really, really hard! (Or maybe because Mom takes us for a long walk before she goes down to the Studio... I'm not sure.)

Here's a look from another day:

I was so hard at work that Mom commemorated my act in a special effects photo.  It's a tricky maneuver I'm performing; how about another view?

I'm a professional; do not try this at home!

As you can see, Dave and I work equally hard while Mom's in the Studio!  He's got her color choices covered, while I stand guard!

Play bows,
Zim

  1. Zim, I hope your mom appreciate the good work you do. When my mom does her sewing, sometimes Wilbur intrudes and he likes to lay on Mom's lap, or lay on the fabric that Mom wants to sew or lay right behind the sewing machine. You get the idea, he's basically in the way. Maybe you should hire yourself out to other Mom's in need. My mom might be willing to pay you some super smelly treats in exchange for you to keep Wilbur out!

  12. Hi Zim & Dave,

I am feeling really, really awful - I only just now realised that you lose Ammy and Stormy!!!!!!! I'm so so sorry! I feel like a terrible friend! I don't know how I missed that! We've been going through a really busy time in the last couple of months and I haven't been able to visit my friends as much as usual and had to do the "Mark All As Read" on Google Reader a few times - so I must have totally missed those posts!! Aaaarrgghhh! I'm so sorry! You must have thought I was the most cold, unfeeling doggie when I didn't come over to leave any words of support! I hope you can forgive me.

Anyway, I'm grovelling over now to say I'm really, really sorry and I shall miss them terribly but I can see from your recent posts that you're continuing their great legacy! I hope your humans are doing OK - I know you'll both be helping them lots.

  14. You're working too hard, Zimmie! I mean, do you get insurance, breaks, snacks provided on the job? Are you a member of the union? Do you get holidays and sick leave? These are all important questions.

  15. You guys really know what service means, don't you? Like my Stella, who acts as my ears in the house, barks at door, and at phone, lets me know whatever is going on.

You guys are all noble critters and I am proud to know you.

    Kisses,
    Jo

  19. Hi Zim! Yes! Can definitely understand the difficulties of these duties. Bravo, very well performed!
In response to your comments to my post....unfortunately, the Avalon birthday fiesta was a bit of a last minute arrangement, and I did not have a chance to enchant her with a gift. Sigh. Must say, we LOVED the hats (did not eat them)...and my mom loved them too (she had much trouble giving hers up :)) Have a great week.
    Love hearing from you!

    Sweet hugs,
    Sierra Rose
