Thinking Thursday

IMG_2301CamMags
"Is it just me, or is everyone else glad Independence Day is behind us?"
"Actually, I'm behind you, Cam ..."

Cammie!

PS:  For those who may remember our great-brother Dave's post from six years ago (Another Reason We Aren't Fond of Fireworks and the follow-up on Photo Finish Friday), there are many reasons we don't care for personal use of fireworks:  the noise, the debris all over the neighborhood and in our yard, and the danger.  And now, with us being in "severe drought" status, you'd think the City would restrict the sale and use of fireworks.  But no.  Mom shot this video off our deck last night with her iPhone.

This morning, it looks as though no homes were destroyed, which is a blessing.  The fire was within a housing area, though.  When will our City wake up?

  1. Amen!!! Oh do we 200% agree with you. We heard some cities in Colorado banned fireworks due to such dry hot conditions.
Same conditions here and thankfully the ones who in the past set them off in the neighborhood were out of town. One year they directed them into the neighbor's yard 2 doors down. Boy did he give them an ear full the next day.
I don't understand the fascination with fireworks...never will.

  3. Those noisy bangs went on here until 3:00 a.m. We did not like them when we were outside, but as long as we stayed inside, all was good. Ban the fireworks - who needs them!!!

  4. that is just scary. while the banging isn't a great thing, at least we had rain here for a while before everything lit off

  5. Wow - that is beyond scary! We wish that stoopid fireworks had never been invented.

  6. Hello, I totally agree with your feelings on fireworks-while pretty, with the drought every one is going through you'd think that cities would stop holding the shows. Our old dogs used to freak out at the noise, but thankfully Hunter and they others aren't scared of them-but we are home with them, so that might help.
    Have a great afternoon.

  7. We are lucky that the big booms don't bother us because there were quite a few very close to our house last night. There was a story on the news last night (CBS) about a city (we think it was in Colorado) that was putting on a drone display instead of using fireworks because of the fire danger. It would be nice if more places could use the drones instead of the noisy boomers but that still won't stop the neighbors from using them even though they are illegal where we live.

  13. Boy do we agree with you!!! We live near an indian reservation that is allowed to sell fireworks that are illegal off the reservation. Our dad strings hoses out just in case some idiot starts a fire. There were 3 or 4 fires started, thankfully were put out quickly, A couple of years ago a man set off some illegal fireworks and started a fire that burned down his neighbors house! We do not enjoy the fourth of July

  14. Here in the city, we dislike the 4th of July because we are so scared of the booms and it goes on for days! Some crazy folks set off fireworks in our park which is very close by. Kiki, who is very scared, spent a whole day and night under mom's bed---she wouldn't even go in the back yard to do her business!
