Photo Finish Friday/We (All) Needed That!

Woo, everypup and everycat.  It's me, Dave.  Before I get to THE photo that helped us cap off the week, I have an update on our neighbors' situation.  The good news is that our neighbors whose house was on fire were indeed out of town.  The bad news is that at least $340,000 worth of damage was done to their home and belongings.  The cause?  Fireworks, just as we thought.  The couple who own the house had nothing to do with the fire - and now their home is gone.

A total loss.  All because someone else was irresponsible enough to set off fireworks in a neighborhood where we live fairly close together and when we are in drought conditions.  We here at Ao4 Headquarters don't set off fireworks - but there but for the grace of God -- you know.  It could happen to any of us.

We don't know if whoever did this will be held responsible or how actively our city officials will pursue the investigation.  We just know this tragedy could have been avoided if someone had shown some common sense and had restricted their own activities.  They didn't and now their neighbors have suffered a tremendous loss.

OK.  Sorry ... let's get on to something Zim and I did that made us boys AND mom feel better yesterday.  Since it's Photo Finish Friday -- check it out:

Me and Zim - splishin' and a-splashin'!

Ha woo.  RIGHT through the sprinklers!  I have to say, since I was on the sidewalk and not in the wet grass, it felt really good on my feety-feet.  Zim liked it, too.  And ... truth be told, I think Mom liked it as well!

Keep cool, everybody!

Luv,
Dave

  1. That is so very sad for that family. Please keep us posted as they rebuild.

Mrs. Master is wondering if they figure out who is responsible...will that person's home owner's insurance have to pay for it? That makes sense to us. TERRIBLE!

  4. This is something that happened in my neighborhood a few years ago. Three boys went into an old apartment building late at night, set off firecrackers and ran. The firecrackers started a fire and burned the building down. It was a beautiful old building, and we were grateful that everyone got out with no loss of life. Neighbors on all sides were moved to a school while the fire was put out. These boys were teenagers and should have known what a terrible deed this was. Just another sad story!

  6. Holy moly! I take a little blogging break and look what happens. I am so mad at whatever miscreants set of those fireworks that I could spit! What a horrible sight. That home! Gone forever. I feel so sorry for the owners. I am glad that nobody was hurt and that AO4 HQ is OK. Such foolishness. And for what?

  10. We feel so bad for your neighbors. We're glad that no one was hurt but still, to lose their home to something so preventable is unthinkable. We hope they are able to rebuild.

Our sisfur Sadie would have enjoyed walking through the sprinklers too so we know she's smiling down on you boys!

  12. I couldn't agree with you more. It is always the ones doing it that never have to pay the price, always the innocent have to. Your poor neighbors. I hope the Red Cross and other organizations are there to help them through all of this.
We actually have a firework on our roof right now. Grr..it could so easily happen to any of us and I am always so scared around this time of the year.

I did a little splish splashing today too, but it was in a stream.

  16. It's good to keep your feet cool. Such a shame about the neighbour's house but at least no-one was injured.
