Prey Drive

Woo, everypup and everycat.  It's me, Dave.  As many of you know, we Siberian Huskies have a high prey drive.  It's true.  We were born with it and just can't help ourselves.  So it will come as no surprise to you that the other evening ...

... right in our own front yard ...

... I spotted some prey and did what came naturally!

Careful.  The following photos might not be for the faint-hearted!  Proceed with caution.

Me.  Stalking my prey!

I stalked it, silently and patiently.  Then when the prey least expected it - I leapt into action!

"Gotcha, you little...."

Then those high prey drive instincts died down a bit, and it hit me.

"Squee-Kee Moose ... is that you?"

Squee-Kee Moose?!?

"Ha woo.  Silly moose!"

Good thing I realized it was him - or he'd have been a goner!  And any other prey that might be out in our yard - BEWARE!  I am a fierce and mighty hunter!  Woooo!

  1. geez - we would have hated to be reading a eulogy for squeekee moose - glad you stopped yourself in time.

  2. Squeak Mouse should stay indoors where he will not be mistaken for prey. That was a near thing. At least you recognized him as a friend before you commenced with decapitation.

  3. Thank goodness you realised in was squeekee moose in time :)xx

  4. What was Squeak Moose doing OUTSIDE.. my mom NEVER lets US take our squeaky toys outside. YOU are Lucky.. and so is HE..

BEWARE PREY!!! DAVE is on the LOOKOUT.

  5. Dave, you are so cute when you are stalking your prey. Well, come to think of it you are cute all the time ;-)

    Cindy & Nina

  6. Dave your a mighty huntsman, and it is good that your recognized your moose before it was to late.
    Hunt Well!

  7. Ah the mighty hunter shows itself again. Poor Squeky Moose almost didn't make it.

That will teach him for sneaking outside into the front yard.

I bet he doesn't do that again for a long while.

  8. We love the last picture of you laughing, Dave!

    Love ya lots,
    Mitch and Molly

  9. We didn't know that Sibes were cat-like in hunting prey. No wonder we love you boys so much! We're glad you realized it was Mr. Moose Davy!

eeerrrrr..ummmmm...Dave...My Mom is worried about the impression that some USA states, some countries, may have that Sibes are so prey driven that they should be on the BSL lists, like Lennox in Belfast...what do you think??? We worry 'cuz Sibes are the 4th most dangerous breed on Insurance companies lists in USA...

  12. we believe you, Dave :) we were worried for Squee Kee there, for a second!

  14. Hehe... You made me laugh again. That last photo would have been perfect for the olympic raspberry event. Your tongue is so pink and cute in that one.

    Love ya!!!!

    I'll be back,

  15. I notice you're still keeping a paw on him. Just in case.
