My Cool New Threads

Woo, everypup and everycat, it's me - Dave!  A special thanks to all of you for the get well wishes!  I'm still not 100%, but I'm feeling a ton better than I was!  I'm trying real hard to do all the stuff my mom and my vets told me to do - and to not do the ten million things on the "no-no" list.  Which brings us to yesterday's picture...

Zim and I weren't really going for a walk!  I'm on "only out to the yard/only on lead" for a while; Mom snapped that photo on one of our potty trips.  We were just at the edge of our yard and she made us turn around.  Needless to say, I wanted to keep going!

Here we are, after Mom got us turned around:

"Hey, Zim.  Whatcha see?"
"Fluffy Black Cat is over in her yard! Maybe she'll come see us."

Zim always likes seeing his kit-cat friends.  She didn't come over, though, and Mom wouldn't let us walk over to her yard.

"I don't think she's coming, Zim."

Oh.  Did you notice my cool new threads? Here's a better look:

My cool new threads

My senior student rigged it up for me the other day at the vet school.  I need to wear a harness instead of a collar - something about the neck bone being connected to the back bone ... or something like that.  I didn't have one of my harnesses with me, so she built this out of two slip leads.  Isn't she clever?    I actually like this better than my regular harnesses, so Mom is letting me keep this on.  (I just have my collar on so my tags are with me!)

Anyway, what do you think?  Do I look OK in red?

Luv,
Dave

  3. I think your look very regal in red. Don't you just hate the 87 million don't things on the list. But if it gets you back then stick to it. And Zim, dog MOM wishes I would be more like you with cats, all nice and friendly. I'll keep trying.

Ya know, i step away from the computer for a few days and find out about THIS? Dave! Please take it easy!

Now about that bed thing... your mom is so clever. you'd think after all these years, she'd be real siberian clever huh? Zim is so funny to upstage her there! LOL!

But seriously, we had the same issue with Juno... NO jumping for her hips. so we've always had the rule of no beds or furniture to keep her safe in the long run. and for 3 years she and Loki stayed off furniture. only this year, she'd been feeling so spry she started jumping up on the bed and being cutesy and coy and of course i gushed and loved it which only made her jump on the bed MORE. but I decided it was just a bad idea to encourage for her hip/low spine problems. so i "re-encouraged" her own bed in our bedroom and only gave her extra smooches for going into that bed. and if she jumped on our bed, i would simply pick her up, place her in her own bed then tell her what a good girl she was and smooch and make over her. You know what happened next? it took on 3 times and she hasn't jumped on the bed since and instead hops into her own bed and awaits my praises and smooches. which she will always get for going in her own bed. but yes, we do understand the need for huskies to claim the human bed... oh boy do we EVER get it!

hope woo feel better real soon Dave!

  7. Dave, we think you look great in that red harness. Handsome as always. I am curious to know what Dave did to hurt his back. Do you know or was it just one of those things where you wake up in the morning and he was lame? Isn't having senior dogs fun?

  12. Hey there:

I think I have discovered your problem, Dave. In that photo showing your new red threads (which look great by the way) it looks very much as if there is a small tree growing in your shoulder area. Get that taken care of and you'll be like new.

But in the meantime while you are semi-laid up, why not write some Haik-Woo. I miss seeing some new work from you and I really enjoying reading your old stuff.

    Good luck!
