That's "stormy" with a small "s". Although I certainly got the most out of the night, too...
Tail wags, pups and kitty cats! It's me - Stormy. Spring has sprung here in Kansas, and that means Storm Season! I made sure Mom stayed up to enjoy the whole thing, start to finish. While we still had daylight, she took some cool pictures that I'll share with you.
All day, we'd had winds gusting up between 50 and 60 miles an hour, then the warm front and cold front collided. This was shortly after 1600:
We were under severe thunderstorm warnings, high wind advisories, and a tornado watch.
Dave thought the clouds were cool shades of purple. We got massive amounts of rain and hail - reports in our county were of golf ball sized hail, but ours wasn't quite that big. If it had been, I wonder if Dad would have gone out and knocked a few around? Ha roo roo roo!
In this next picture, you can see how hard the rain is coming down, the water hitting the deck railing, and the hail piling up.
I sent Mom out onto the screened in part of the deck and had her open the door. Here's how deep the hail was at one point:
Anyroo, night fell shortly after that, so I have no more photos to show you. Well, here's one more Storm picture:
Ha roo roo roo! With my favorite meteorologist in the background. (Sorry it's fuzzy; the lighting was dim.)
As I said, I made sure Mom didn't miss anything all night, which I'm sure she appreciated. I know she appreciates a good storm. And a good Storm. :)
Well, the BIG 'S' Storm is always good!ReplyDelete
PeeEssWoo: Dave is khorrekht about the purple! KHOOL!
man toots!! Love the purple clouds one and the ice cubes on the deck are wild!!!ReplyDelete
I would be scared senseless with all that wind hail and rain. I am scared of storms, I could never live in Kansas.ReplyDelete
Them storms look really scary but kinda pretty too.ReplyDelete
oh, peeess I has gived you an award over at my blog, it be the second post down now.
My goodness - you certainly know how to have a storm in Kansas!ReplyDelete
We would both have been very scared but we loved looking at your pictures - especially the angry sky!!!

Very cool photos. I'm glad you're safe. My Missouri grandparents just built a safe room. Do you have a safe room? I wonder if a safe room keep out the cats.ReplyDelete
Whoa, you really did get it worse than we did. Great pics, though. And just think, it is just the beginning of the season.ReplyDelete
Woos, the OP Pack
We enjoy a good "S"torm too but the little "s"torms scare me. Brice is a good brother and barks at the thunder and makes it go away.ReplyDelete
We're glad the weather didn't get any worse. Say, a tornado. But you sure did have a variety.ReplyDelete
Can you pretend that all of that hail was snow and go play?ReplyDelete
hehe, cute last picture. We had lots of wind, too! Mom said we had to be careful so we didn't end up at your house!ReplyDelete
Your mum kept my mum posted about the "s"torms so I knew you were all okay. Coll pictures though!ReplyDelete
Haroooo to woo Stormy! I can see woo took good care of the hoomans in da house. That's a lot of storming!ReplyDelete

That was so considerate of you to make sure Mom didn't miss any of the action! That purple sky looks spooky.ReplyDelete
We are sure glad that you got to enjoy the storm.. That certainly is a lot of hail. The weatherman said we were going to get rain but he was wrong again..ReplyDelete

I think your purple sky is bewootiful! My Mom says sometimes when the Storms are bad, the sky gets green and very strange looking!ReplyDelete
Do you ever have that?
Wow, we don't really get hail here. Sometimes, they have it on the Big Island, but it's very rare. Did you go out and eat some of it? I would have. :)ReplyDelete
I love all the cool storm and Storm pictures!
Those Kansas storms are what made me high tail it out of there! I got an email from my aunt in Manhattan about the hail. Meanwhile, my dad near Topeka was disappointed that they didn't get more of a storm. He's an oddball.ReplyDelete
The sky looks scary and that is a lot of hail!
Storms make me bark like crazy!
Kisses and hugs
Sounds like it hit all the way from your house to ours too. We aren't happy tornado season has started so early. Glad you all are safe!!ReplyDelete
You got much better storms than us. We didn't get any hail, darn it! Mom is just so excited she had the roof fixed so all the rain stays outside!
Those sky pictures sure are cool!
Thor and Marco Polo
I love storms! They are good fur snuggling :)ReplyDelete
Big licks to you
WOW! What a storm you had, Stormy! I'm sure glad you guys weren't caught out in it near Lake Kansas. Or near the Giant's. Those purple clouds are cool, as long as pointy things aren't reachin' down.ReplyDelete
....and there's no better Storm than you! What a dedicated blogger, sending your Mom out to get all those cool pics, you deserve a HUGE bone....and a belly smooch!ReplyDelete
Lucky you were all safely indoors ... we've never had hail in our neck of the woods ... I reckon its because of the heat ... by the time them snow balls hit the grown its since turn to water ... maybe that's why we got tonnes of rain ... boy, it pours by the bucket!ReplyDelete
licks and wags
Tuffy of Dog WOods
WOW look at all of the balls of ice that you got!ReplyDelete
Did you get the chance to play with them after?
Lucie would have eaten them! BOL
Lots of Luv & kisses

OMD....you definitely got some hail! Those clouds in the sky looked very vicious! Hopefully there were no tornadoes though!ReplyDelete
WOW at that hail! And I think it is important to point out that Storm has a smile on her face while doing the hail storm!ReplyDelete
