Sunset over the Flint Hills |
I feel relaxed already; how about you?
Oh. That's me. And my mom. Being VERY serene. Woo.
Out in the gardens, there are still some nice things going on. The Day Lilies are trying to make a come-back. Either the heat or the drought or something did a number on them this year, but check these guys out:
Still giving it a go!
The Rose of Sharon bushes are also still blooming:
AND our lavender plants are going strong!
OK, maybe not so much "going strong" as "have survived the hottest part of the Summer". It's been such a rough growing season that Mom is just thrilled with anything that has survived - especially the new plants like the lavender!
Here's another very serene photo from earlier this week:
My kid brother Zim, going on a car ride |
He hasn't even left the garage yet, but check out that look on his face! He LOVES car rides!
And now for one last photo for today - this is something that has everyone and everything feeling WAY BEYOND serene. Are you ready?
RAIN!!! |
That's right - RAIN!!! Pouring down rain! It was raining like cats and dogs and puppies! Bucketful after bucketful!!! As many of you know we have been in "exceptional drought" conditions - and over the course of the last couple days, we probably saw 4 glorious inches of RAIN!!! Maybe more!!! Needless to say, it's brought great happiness and serenity to the area!
I hope you found lots of things that made you feel serene this week!
Luv,
Dave

So many serene things Dave! The sunset and flowers are very pretty! You are so handsome! Your brother is so happy! Yay for rain! Mommy's aunt and cousin by Tuttle Creek were happy about the rain so we hoped you were getting it a little further south of there too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all your serenity. The rain is especially nice. As long as there is no thunder a nice downpour is great when you have been without for so long.

Your plants had a ROUGH start... butt they did Well under the tough situation.... RAIN???? YOU ARE GETTING RAIN????? That is WONDERFUL. The poor parched plants will be slurpin it up like thirsty pups after a long run. YEA fur the much needed RAIN.
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy that you're getting your rain, Dave!
ReplyDeleteYour sunset is just magnificent!
Love ya lots,
Mitch and Molly
Yay for rain! Are you allowed out in the rain? Teddy goes out in the rain, then protests (usually with his claws and teeth) that he has to get towel dried.

Hey guys, I was wondering if you guys were adult rescue dogs??I ask because I have a feature on my blog for interviewing cat and dog rescues...and wonder if you might be open to volunteering for me to interview you IF you are rescues? You can see my first canine interview Aug 21 with Chancy. paw pats, Savvy
